Lacrymosa

The Open Door, Track #7
Written By: Amy Lee and Terry Balsamo
Choir performance by Millenium Choir

-Used in the 30 second trailer for The Open Door

A 22-cord orchestra led by Dave Campbell (with whom Evanescence had already worked for their performance at the Billboard Awards 2004) starts off in order to introduce a choir, which serves as back up for Amy’s singing.

Amy: ‘Dave Campbell is an enormous inspiration source for me, he’s so talented. The way he arranges orchestral parts is remarkable. It's the element of our music that makes me cry!''

The guitar solo of Terry in the middle of the song adds to its beauty before the choir closes with a note doing a decrescendo. Recorded in a chapel near Seattle, we have here the second pearl of the album.

Credit goes to julie for translation.

Taken from ToD News Thread.

The song features nearly the entire score as presented in Mozart's Requiem, part III - "Lacrimosa". The term "lacrimosa," or "lacrymosa" means "weeping" / "to weep" in latin.

Here are the lyrics for Mozart's original score, which are featured in the BG of Ev's song.

``Lacrymosa dies illa, qua resurget ex favilla judicandus homo reus.

Huic ergo parce Deus, pie Jesu Domine, dona eis requiem! Amen!``

Quote:
"Lacyrmosa"
It means "related to sadness." Which becomes obvious when you hear it.
Amy Lee: I saw Amadeus when I was nine years old and fell in love with Mozart. The part of Mozart's Requiem called "Lacyrmosa" is my favorite piece of music ever. I always wished we could cover it, but with programming and guitars and make it cool. It's our moment to try all the things I wanted to and couldn't, so I started messing with it in Protools. Terry wrote some riffs and turned it into this awesome metal epic.

------
LACRYMOSA

Out on your own
cold and alone again
can this be what you really wanted, baby?

Blame it on me
set your guilt free
nothing can hold you back now

Now that you're gone
I feel like myself again
grieving the things I can't repair and willing ...

to let you blame it on me
and set your guilt free
I don't want to hold you back now love

I can't change who I am
not this time, I wont lie to keep you near me
and in this short life, there's no time to waste on giving up
my love wasn't enough

and you can blame it on me
just set your guilt free, honey
I don't want to hold you back now love

"Lacrymosa it's a new song of Evanescence, during the writing of that song, Amy Lee acknowledged to have written frank words on a music pointing out a mixture of Whisper and besides of Going Under, the bottom of the song has a large similarity with Going Under, since Lacrymosa speaks about a relation in love which badly turned, of a man who forsook his wife after him to have made a "blow of whore"(sorry it's written):

"And you've left when I've cried"

A little further
"Too late to blame it on me, don't wanna hold you back now"

It acts of a very important passage of the song, because it shows a little the history. Amy Lee, after the departure of her love, will do something (to undoubtedly find some another), which will make react his ex-lover who will try to kill her after him to have to reproach for having been inaccurate.

"I will fly to remain what I've been"

It is rather glaucous. This murder east wanted because Amy does not want to forgive her lover and it cannot any more retain it!

My sky is what I deserve, remember...

The choruses has the end of the song are very bandaging, finally, it is like an improved Whisper"

Well now at least I know what she's singing...I couldn't figure it out from the clip.

Thanks!

*I love how I completely didn't notice the lyrics were right there for days...*

That part struck me. She's been saying how happy she is lately, and she used to seem really happy with Shaun, but that makes it sound like after their breakup she was really lost and depressed again, just like before Fallen.

reading the lyrics and listening to the song, it seems like Amy is really beginning to get over the whole scenario with Shaun. Just like with CMWYS, she sounds so empowered, moved on, and an improved person. An amazing song! *reps to teh Ames*

THANK YOU FOR THE LYRICS!! There were a lot of confusing parts in there, and unless you know the lyrics, it's almost impossible to figure them out

I guess I would have to describe this song as 'Old school evanescence'

It retains the very good epic qualities of 'Fallen,' yet it shows just how much the band has grown.

btw, TERRY IS THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO EVANESCENCE EVER OMGz THAT GUITAR SOLO TOWARDS THE END MADE ME CREAM MYSELF(done).

From the trailor, we know the song will be hard. I, personally, think this will be my favorite song from The Open Door. I love the choir and I like classical music.
