Haha oh I know what you mean. That's what all my friends say about Evanescence. When they first became big out here, my friend came to me with their Bring Me To Life single and said "OMG I love this new band. They also have a new song called Immortal that you HAVE to hear!" The annoying thing? I had told her about them for AGES before they became big. Just because they suddenly became popular she assumed they were a new band. I dread the day when she'll come to me with a LC CD going "OMG have you heard of this new band LaTunas Doil? I just LOVE their song Lie is Heaven. They're my favourite new band!"

You should hear what they say on nick.com about their own "Ev fanclub"...it is SAD, and this is what they actually typed:

After that, I made a username on that site, and I added:

LIEK WOAH! Annnyways, EVANESCENCE (not Evanscenc) isn't exactly NEW, because I've listened to them for over 2 years now, before they hit the mainstream. My favorite songs by them are Breathe No More and Surrender. Breathe No More would've been on Fallen, but it didn't make the cut.

And then the same girl replied again, and just plain PISSED ME OFF!

If nick.com didn't have so many moderators around, I would've been flaming at that girl to HELL! Next thing you know, she's gonna "liek, totally luv" Lacuna Coil. If she goes around talking valley about them, I don't even think you would want to know what would happen.

It also seems all people are going to know about are Heaven's a Lie and Swamped, them being the videos, and people might think Comalies is their only cd. People should realize that while the bands that have just become popular are gaining new exposure, they are not by any means new, which is why you should go and do research on the band that you like.

For example, you'd never know that Maroon 5 was a different band before they became popular. They were Kara's Flowers 5 years ago. And they had a completely different sound.

Cold from what I understand has been around for 15 years. Most would think that they'd only been out for 5 or even only 2 years due to Year of the Spider which has really been their most successful CD to date.

Any time you see a new band remember that they're not new. They're new to you

But that's the main reason I hope they don't go mainstream. I don't want the 'liek, whoah!' try-hards attaching themselves to the kick arse band LacunaCoil/LaTuna Doil/Hakuna Broil

That's the reason why I am really happy to have been the only person in my school to have known about Lacuna Coil. The only people I would've been ok with liking LC are just these two boys, only because they're independent (sp), and they are known to listen to a variety of things. I remember hearing one of them sing songs by A Flock of Seagulls. I wouldn't mind if these two girls in my class listen to LC either, because they listen to Evanescence already, and they don't act "LIEK OMG!" towards them. I've gotten one of them into Breathe No More, something I would've wished to do on nick.com.

So, more to the topic, if the general public were to hear one amazing song by Lacuna Coil, what would you want it to be?

Hmmm. That's a tough choice. I would probably want them to hear Comalies. Not just because it's one of my favourite songs, but just because the lyrics, the music, EVERYTHING is amazing. Not everyone would like it because of the reason part of it is sung in Italian, but that's what makes it even more unique.

I would say Tight Rope. Everybody seems to love that song, and the drums kick everybody's ass. Its just that simple.

I don't know anything about Maroon 5, but Cold has been around for a long time.. they were called Grundig before, but had to change their name due to an audio company having it copywrited. (Did I spell that wrong? It doesn't look right..)

..and back to Lacuna Coil..

Century Media changed their flash intro from whatever band they had before (I can't remember) to a LC flash intro. It's nothing spectacular, but somebody might want to see it. *shrug*

I like LC songs with Italian in them, because as everyone knows, or should know, they're an Italian band (if anyone says they're American, just so they know: TIME IS MINE, I'VE GOT THE BLAAAADE!!!). Comalies' Italian part sounds beautiful, aswell as all of Senzafine. If anyone has a problem with that, they need to, I won't spell this right, stazito (Italian for 'shut up').

Now you see what I do. Yet, some people aren't as intelligent as I, so they try to dress like the band/musician, buy their consumer products just because it was the band/musician that made them (Lies ), and go around saying stuff that was mentioned earlier in this thread, trying to sound as if they know more about the band than anyone else. The American Pop Culture fanbase is very strange nowadays, even stranger than ever before.
