hehe ^that made me laugh!

I'm rather new to the fandom of LC as well. I only have the Comalies CD so far but I would like to get ahold of more of their stuff too.
I get like that, find something I like then go a little crazy with it. Just a little.

You, know the only reason the media compares them is cause they both have a female fronted band! So media is quickly jumping on the oh this band is this and oh that band is that!!

I would like the Media, like newspaper and such to look deeper!! Lacuna Coil has been together for 10yrs! and the American media is acting like they are just coming out!! which i find pathetic!

Both bands are good!
theres no comparison!

SamanthaIsCool yeah it's only an r in cristina's name
I would put an h in cristina's name and would get corrected by some members of christinamultimedia.com forum and as well as on lc's fansite! haha!

my bad. i misread one of the artiles when skimming through. apparently some of their stuff has appeared on other dvds, but it doents look like they have their own. sry bout that.

looks like theyre putting it to a vote though. on the right hand side of the home page, http://www.lacunacoil.it/, theres a survey of what fans would like to see next. now one of these options is a new album. but didnt someone here say theyre already working on one?
(dont quote me on that, i could be misinformed again )

there are a few dvds out with lacuna coil videos on them. there is also the new england metalfest dvd with 2 or 3 live performances from lc's set. there are some amateur dvds out with live footage of lc shows from milano and paris, but the quality and length aren't good. they are more like previews. the show from rocktv in milano aren't all that bad though. *awesome live version of "tight rope" and "angel's punishment")

about the fan survey. that is from www.emptyspiral.net - the official worldwide fan club site. not the official lc site

criZ - the lc drummer - had told me that they were going to try to get a video for "daylight dancer" from the ozzfest shows (this was back in june when he mentioned this), but that didn't go through. so now they are working on the new album and will release a new single/video from that, not comalies

there has always been the idea about an official lc dvd though. the band would love to release anything they can for their fans, especially a live dvd. so we'll see how it all goes

i don't think i could've said it better myself. actually, that might be EXACTLY what i would've said .

i like Empty Spiral, but there are a lot of people there that just keep comparing Ev and LC. there was a thread there about all the comparisons, and i posted there about why they can't be compared, and these were my reasons:

-LC (IMO) is a lot heavier than Ev
-Amy is the only singer for Ev, and LC has both Cristina and Andi
-LC's lyrics are deeper/more emotional (again, IMO, and this isn't always the case)

so, yeah .

@Sparky - a lot of the newer members (and sometimes younger) post about the ev/lc comparisons. however, those of us who have been there a lil' longer tend to talk about actual news on lc. although i've got to say i choose to frequent the "open chat" forum a lot more (there are just some classic threads there )

and i'll say it again, about the only thing more annoying than the lc/ev comparisons is the constant debate with the same points being brought up over and over again.

oh well. there are worst things in the world than people comparing two bands

in reguards to the dead horse known as LC vs. Ev, there is one similarity. mood.
lets face it, there arent that many goth bands (yes, im refering ot Ev as goth and refuse to believe otherwise. sue me) that dont lean toward a punk style. id also include Nightwish, and a small handful of stuff from Blind Guardian in that catagory.
other than that, most goth rock consists of shouting rather than singing. (if im wrong about that, please recomend some other bands to me). its a rare combination of dark and smooth that, until discovering these bands, ive only been able to find in movie scores.
consider the demographic these bands have, and the fact that so many people are fans of both. there has to be some meaningful characteristic they have in common.

You probably know these:
Within Temptation (http://www.within-temptation.com)
Elis (http://www.elis.li)
Theatre of Tragedy
Leaves' Eyes

Sorry, no URL for those last 2- forgot their websites. I dont listen to them all that much.

there will probably never be an agreement to the labeling of bands. if you see lc as goth, that's your interpretation. (i'm sure their "gothfathers" shirts also help somewhat with this labeling ).

lacuna coil themselves don't particularly see themselves as a "goth" band, but that doesn't mean you can't think that. as long as you're enjoying the music, that's what counts so i wouldn't give much attention to anyone who feels it necessary to point out that any band is not a particular label you give them

i typically label bands such as lc as "underground". this is one label that lacuna coil can agree with.

but my point is ive been intentionaly out of the loop when it comes to music. it wasnt untill a couple months ago that i realized what ive been missing.

the labling discussion again. first of all, ok, maybe the word 'dark' would be more accurate than 'goth'. at any rate, i dont use lables to determine my taste before trying it. that's the 'picky eater' mindset that i ditched after finding out i liked listening to Ev about as much as Hans Zimmer. for example, for the most part, i dont like country. but that doesnt stop me from liking 2 of Faith Hill's songs.
the negative connotation of lables comes from posers. if youre trying to fit a lable, you probably dont diserve to wear it. but if you, on your own accord, just happen to match the profile of one, then so be it. the only problem there is that many of them mean different things.

yes, but finding such music is where lables come in handy. theyre nothing more than a tool to describe the music, not a limitation.
for example, my gut reaction from Nemo's suggestions based on my description of the style i usualy like:

yes, maybe youre right. maybe i am taking it a little too seriously.
isnt 'undeground' based more on exposure than style?

at any rate, i still think theres some commonality between LC and Ev i cant quite put my finger on. its the same missing link that i think Amy's found in the composers we both happen to like, and put in her own stuff. ive been trying to get her to tell me if its something that can be described, but the thread keeps getting burried. something that goes beyone genera and is, like i said, more along the lines of mood.
