yeah, i think i did. btw, i cant remember everyhting i sent, but theres more where that came from. this is falling a little off topic though, and id rather not discuss it so openly here. if anyone's interested, lets go with DPs advice for now and keep it to PMs. |

I was not a big fan of LC the first time I heard them, and I still do not like many of their fans who blindly hate Evanescence due to their mainstream success. However, as time went on the songs started to grow on me, and I ended up buying Comalies (Ozzfest version) and Unleashed Memories. I'll never like them as much as Evanescence, but the music is still good. My favorite songs are Heaven's A Lie, Self Deception/Aeon/Tight Roap, Humane, 1:19, When A Dead Man Walks, and Half Life. Cristina's voice doesn't come close to Amy's, but I like the interplay between the male and female vocalists.

um....yeah
@Nemo - i'll join you with the biting tongue thing. but i'll bite my *own* tongue. not yours. um.....moving on.
the expected release date for the new album is may 2005 according to maus and marco (guitarist and bassist players of lc). but as with all things, certain circumstances can alter this. as of right now though, there are no music videos or singles being focused on. they were going to release "daylight dancer" with the ozzfest video as a single, but they are finished promoting comalies. now the production of the new album is the main focus. ![]() although i'm really interested to see what they will play as their setlist on the 27th. there may be some new stuff...or there could be a mixture of the past albums/eps ![]() |

let me start by saying that this is neither a personal attack on your opinion, or a critisizm to either singer. merely an amatur's observation. first of all both of them have very nice voices, but from a technical standpoint, Cristina's got better control of her voice. cant say im suprised. she's been doing this about 5 years longer than Amy. i think Cristina does a better job hitting the low and midrange notes while Amy gets middle to high. the difference is Amy tends to go a little beyond the range shes capable of. listen to the beginning of the acoustic version of 'Going Under' and youll hear what i mean. and the way her voice cracks on the highest note in 'Hello'. though i thought she did pretty well on that song as far as going above her usual range. my mom couldnt stand the lack of the trill. an obvious mark of a self taught singer is the lack of a trill in the longer notes. a taboo that i think Cristina's broken several times. both of them sound like they exhale too much when singing. my mom use to sing, quite well in fact. she could even do some opera (though she didnt really prefer that style). so shes a lot more critical of singing ability than i am, and the first thing she noticed about Ev is the deep breaths between versus. i dont hear it so much in LC though. again, this is a mark of not having any formal training. the last thing i noticed was when i saw Ev live. Amy does the same thing Meatloaf does in that she leans over while hitting a long note. (though Meatloaf practicaly makes himself pass out.) never saw LC in concert (yet), so i cant vouch for that either way. its an instinct thats a lot like depending on poles to keep your balance when skiing without tripping over them, or locking up the breaks of a car and expecting it to still swerve. in other words, its a natural responce and a bad habit. actualy restricts airflow and makes it much harder to belt out a note. i really hope none of that came out wrong, because really, i love both. these are things ive noticed only because my mom's ability to catch it has rubbed off. personaly i really dont care. i think all it takes to be a good singer is a little passion put in the song, and both of them have that in spades. and ill be happily buying up every new album from either band asap and sight unseen. (for me thats saying something, because ive never paid for a disc i havent sampled first.) but there you have it. feel free to disagree or correct me on any of that. |

I've seen LC live a couple of times. They alter between using mic stands and not (depends on the song they are performing). I know within certain songs, Cristina like to take this stance: ![]() All of LC just *really* get into the show with the crowd's energy. "Tight Rope" live is fucking awesome with the synchronized headbanging. I could go on forever about LC live shows. I hope you one day can see them. There's only been one time I remember seeing Cristina's voice break. It's a bootleg from Lisbon '98 and she was sick. During the last part of "This Is My Dream" her voice was shot, but she recovered and worked with it the best she could. Anyway, all very good points the_muenks. I typically don't bother to try to be diplomatic because the chances of people's bias' getting in the way is too high. So very good job with your explanation. ![]() p.s. i'm now listening to lc live in paris...and cristina's voice is pretty consistent and clear. she really reaches a clear, high note (for her usual tone) in "self-deception". granted, she's not running a marathon on stage like amy does but still. good stuff, i say! ![]() Last edited by DonkeyPenguin : 12-02-2004 at 01:42 PM. |
