I tried to like Lacuna Coil... I really did. For a while, I said I did like them, but I think I only said that because I thought I should like them, with all the comparisons to Evanescence and all.

But the truth is, they just don't do it for me. I had listened to some of their older stuff online, and couldn't really even understand what Christina was singing half the time. Then when Karmacode was released, I went out and bought it, hoping to be amazed, but I wasn't. The single "Our Truth" definately grew on me alot, but other than that, I wasn't blown away at all. The whole middle-eastern vibe was definately cool and beautiful, but the lyrics left alot to be desired, and I thought Christina Scabbia did have a pretty nice voice but they drowned it out in the music.

After all the buzz I had heard about this band, I had expected more.

Apparently, the US tour was cancelled. *cries*

From Blabbermouth:

Quote:
LACUNA COIL's previously announced U.S. headlining tour with SOIL and 36 CRAZYFISTS, which was set to take place in November, has been cancelled. No further information is available right now.

LACUNA COIL's latest CD, "Karmacode", was produced by Waldemar Sorychta and LACUNA COIL in Germany and Italy. The CD was mixed by Ronald Prent (RAMMSTEIN, H.I.M., IRON MAIDEN) and mastered by Darcy Proper (STEELY DAN, PORCUPINE TREE, R.E.M.) at Galaxy Studios in Belgium. The follow-up to 2002's "Comalies" debuted at No. 28 and spent eight weeks on The Billboard 200 chart. It has sold nearly 140,000 copies in the United States so far, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

From MySpace bulletin:

Quote:
LACUNA COIL Announce U.S. Tour; Launch New Single and Video

Due to overwhelming demand, LACUNA COIL will return to the U.S. this November as direct support to Danzig as part of the next incarnation of his highly successful Blackest of The Black tour. This is the group’s third U.S. run in support of Karmacode, their highly praised new album and will wrap up a highly successful year, which saw numerous highlights such as a main stage Ozzfest slot, a sold-out tour with Rob Zombie, a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live and a Top 30 Active Rock hit single with the track “Our Truth.”

The band says, “ We initially planned to headline the U.S. this fall, but Danzig made us an offer we couldn’t refuse, so we postponed our headlining plans until January. We can’t wait to return to America with another true legend.”

This tour also coincides with the launch of the group’s new single for the track, “Closer,” the third single from Karmacode. The radio mix and edit of “Closer” was done by Brian Malouf (Michael Jackson, Madonna, Pearl Jam), and the captivating video for the track, completed by the directorial team Fort Awesome (who also shot the group’s acclaimed “Our Truth” clip) can be viewed by clicking the link below.
mms://mp3.centurymedia.com/stream/lacunacoil/karmacode/lacunacoil_closer.wmv

Furthermore, LACUNA COIL has been nominated for the “Best Italian Act” award at the MTV European Music Awards 2006. Fans are invited to vote at http://ema.mtv.it (choose the “Italian Act” category and click “vota”). Do not try to vote more than once as your IP address will be recognized and your vote will be nullified.

Karmacode had a phenomenal first week at retail, securing the #28 spot on the Billboard Top 200 charts and debuting at #5 on the Hard Music chart just behind such acclaimed artists as Nickelback and Rob Zombie. The group initially left their mark on the hard rock scene in 2004 with their acclaimed album, Comalies, which opened several opportunities for them that were previously thought unattainable for an Italian band, such as two highly successful commercial radio campaigns alongside a breakthrough Ozzfest appearance, resulting in over 500,000 copies sold worldwide with a quarter-million in the U.S. alone.
I guess it's sort of good news. The headlining tour is only postponed and we can another chance to see them opening.
