You guys probably knew this already, but there's a small feature on LC in the new issue of Revolver with Ev on the cover. If anyone here is a livejournal user, I highly recommend joining the Lacuna Coil community. It's cool to read other fans' concert reviews [they even post pics!] and there's a fairly large base of LC fans to talk with. Nothing but good stuff.

I was reading a LC interview a while ago and they told their opinion about Evanescence
They said everybody was telling them Evanescence was copying their style so they heard it and thought Evanescence remember them but also remembers Linkin Park, although they also said they only heard one song from them back then (guess which one it was?) I think LC and Evanescence are the same style of music, but they have their own style. What many metal fans say about Evanescence being copycat of Lacuna Coil (I did say it at first) is some kind of jealous feeling or maybe only hearing Evanescence few times. In my case, in the 4th day I heard Evanescence other songs, I could clearly see the differences, but the voice is almost the same |

I think people say they sound alike simply because they're both female-fronted metal bands, despite Lacuna Coil also having a male singer. In more entertaining news, I'm gonna go see them open for Type O Negative tommorow! I have a feeling Type O will be kinda boring (sorry if they're not, I'm not to familliar with their stuff beyond a couple MP3's I got) but 45-60 minutes of Lacuna Coil will be awesome.

Hey, I just finally (after 3 years) got to see Lacuna Coil live in Cincinnati, Ohio on Tuesday night, and I was so pleased with their show. ) It was only 45 minutes which was the bad thing, but they blew Type O Negative away in my opinion. Even my friend said the same thing, and he went to see only Type O Negative. I thought they sounded very good live, and they really have alot of energy on stage. And after the show I got to meet Marco Coti Zelati (their bassist) and he was so nice. He talked to me for a few minutes and shook my hand and was just really cool. I'd love to see them be the headliner the next time because they deserve it. Also for anyone who is curious, their setlist was....

Went to the show last night in St. Louis, technically Sauget, IL. Let's see...I got a spot up on the balcony on the side of the stage before the show and during the opening band, New Death Sensation. After their first song one of them yelled "We're New Death Sensation, and we suck." The first step is always admitting your problem. After a boring 20-30 minutes they finally quit and I made my way down for Lacuna Coil. I ended up on the left of the stage behind a couple people for the first few songs, from where I was I could only see Cristina, Andrea, the one guitar player, the drummer, and occasionally the bassist and other guitar player when they stepped to the front and away from the speaker blocking my view. I was behind some short people though so I think my pictures are gonna turn out excellent, I'll have them developed tommorow. A few minutes into the set some people moved and I got right up by the rail in front of the stage, so more great pictures there but I closer to the speaker so I could see a little less. The setlist was the same as the above one for Cincinnati, but I think Aeon was just background music as they walked on stage, they didn't actually play it. The show was of course great, but unfortuantely there only seemed to be a few other people there to see them, when they introduced the only song they ever wrote entirely in Italian someone yelled "Senzafine!", so there were a few fans there at least. The crowd did seem to enjoy them much more than the first band. To compare, from the balcony I could see most of the crowd, except the rest of the balcony, during the first band I saw no more than five people kinda nodding their heads, once LC started Swamped people began surfing up to the stage, though not nearly as much as during Type O. Speaking of which during most of their set someone from Type O was on the side of the stage talking to people so he stole much of the crowds attention, I'd be lying if I said I knew what was going on over there as I was watching Lacuna Coil's show. Oh well, during Type O's set I saw Andrea on the side of the stage so I went back down to try and get him to sign my Comalies book, no dice, back to the balcony. Type O wasn't bad, although the only songs I recognized where the encore, I Don't Wanna Be Me, and Black No. 1. The singer/bass player was quite appreciative of the crowd and seemed to be a funny guy. "We consider it an honor and a privelege to be here, I'm sorry it's a week night but I'd be happy to write you a note of abscence for tommorow for teacher or fuckin' boss." During some song a string on his bass broke or something and he had to switch, the guitarist says "You're supposed to change basses between songs." To this he replies "Yeah, well you're supposed to change your underwear every month." There was much moshing and crowd surfing taking place, and with that at least once injury, and towards the end he says "I'd like to commend the excellent security staff for catching you guys, if they didn't you'd end up with a face like mine." Then he compared himself to Johnny Carson or something, I don't know. Anyway the show ends after an hour and half, two maybe? I don't wear a watch, but the show was supposed to start at eight, again I don't know if it did, and it was close to midnight when I got out, I think it was at least, I stayed outside for a while and it was like 12:20 when I left. Moving on, I go around the side of the club by the buses, there's quite a crowd gathering by one which I eventually decide belongs to Type O, I stand off to the side so I could see people coming out to go to the other bus, eventually one of the guitar players comes out with some girl and he looked like he was heading over to the crowd so I stayed where I was, but he instead goes into the bus. Later on Cristina heads into the bus as he's coming out, me and I think one other dude go up to him, he apologized for being kinda drunk and the girl with him informed me that everyone was drunk. This was ok with me and he went back inside or something. Time passes and Andrea comes out, he signs Comalies for me to and says Cristina's inside playing pool. Nice guy. Finally the rest of the band comes out and there's a few more people around by this time, they do some signing and then Cristina and Andrea come back out, so I get her autograph and get some pics with band and head to Steak 'N Shake. The end.
quick edit-that was a long post wasn't it? Anyway has anyone noticed that Lacuna Coil features two guys named Marco and two named Cristiano? It's like They Might Be Giants, they're both named John and everyone in their band is named Dave, or Dan. I think Dan. |
