Hey everyone. I have this idea in my head for a tattoo, and have had the idea for a while...but I can't draw well at all...and I really don't have any friends who can draw, so I wanted to ask if anyone would want to put some time into drawing something for me. All I really want is an outline. My tattoo artist would probably redraw it in her own method...but I just wanted to see what it would look like...and have something to show her.

I will try to explain it the best I can...and I'll try to attach some pictures.

Ok. I want there to be a large, dark, bendy, kind of dying tree, with a fairy sitting and leaning against it...either with her knees together and feet apart (like when you are sitting while wearing a skirt), or leaning on her hand, almost like she is laying. I imagine the fairy looking somewhat like Amy Lee...with dark makeup and hair. Here's where it might get a little tricky: I wanted the tree/fairy/background to look like it's half dying, half growing, yet still keep an overall gothic/dark feel to it. Like the left half, her wings could be a little nicer and stronger looking, and the right side could be more tattered looking. The same would follow with her clothes, which I imagine as kind of dark wrappings, and boots. Maybe the growing side would have a few leaves on the tree or a flower growing. I thought about maybe having snow on the dying side and snow melting from the trees on the growing side...but I think that might be too complex for a tattoo. The background, while I don't want it to be too thick, could include a moon and some stars or mist...or both. I am just really interested to see how this would look.

You can use any method or materials you want...I don't really care. I know that this would be time consuming and whatnot...so any input, ideas, sketches or anything would be greatly appreciated!!

Out of curiosity, where exactly are you getting this on your body and about how big did you want it to be? The location and size would really affect the image.

Jane is right. The more detail you want the bigger it will need to be. Once your tattoo ages you will lose alot of the detail, so really the bigger the better.

Yeah, the reason I mentioned it is that I wouldn't mind drawing something up, but I'd like to have an idea of exactly how much creative license I'll be able to have with it. Really, if you're getting it to span your side (ribs) or your back, I can go all out for ya. But if it's just going to be a small thing, then the design would have to be drastically simplified.

I definitely want it to be a big thing. I was thinking on the ribs...spanning from underarm to hip...similar in size/placement to the tree tattoo in the picture I posted. Definitely want a lot of detail, so go all out, please!

That's FANTASTIC news. Have you thought about whether you'd want it in black and grey or color? Also, the last question I have is whether you want it to be more stylized or realistic?

I would like it to be more realistic looking...but I don't want it to look too much like a straight up snap shot...so you can be creative. I do want it to be obviously fantasy-based...so the tree and whatnot can be totally dark and unrealistic looking if you wish. For the fairy, I imagine her as a beautiful, somewhat realistic looking woman with wings...if that helps?

And for the coloring...I am thinking black, grey and some purple...i leeerves me some purple. I might add some other colors later to accentuate. Right now I am planning for it to be primarily black and grey, with bits of purple (maybe in the mist, tree outline and/or the fairy's eyes or something).

The first picture is one that I like a lot. I actually own a print of it, along with a couple others of that particular artists work. Unfortunately I can't think of the name right now...so that won't help.

Also want to add...I prefer larger rather than smaller wings.

I had free time today, so I gave it a shot. I haven't had a scanner though, so I had to just take a picture of it when I got done, so... the coloring looks a little weird from the flash. Kind of sloppy, but it gets my idea across, and it's something for your tattoo artist to go off of.
