Does anyone else here watch this show?

When I heard it was created by JJ Abrahms, the guy responsible for Alias, I thought I'd give it a try, NOW I'M HOOKED!!!!!


There's a whole BB for it at abc.com, but I'm surprised there wasn't a thread for it here. (Yes I searched.)


There's many-a-theory floating around about what's going on on the island:
They're all dead and/or they're in puragatory.
They're all dreaming.
It was some sort of massive conspiracy.
It was all some kind of experiment by a mad scientist.
Etc., etc., etc.

Anyone here have a better theory?



ANother thing that's been discussed to death on the LOST BB, are the parallels to Lord of the Flies.
Which LOST character = which LOTF character.

Anyone ... anyone ...

Who hit Sayid?
What's Hurley's back story? (I'm betting he's a comic book store owner)
Can Shannon be any more of a bitch?

I personally haven't watched it, but my aunt on the other hand...she is addicted. She loves it! At first the people at her work thought it was i guess a stupid show, but now they are all hooked. If they do rerun the season i will probably add it to my list.

I've watched it since the pilot..and this is definitely one of the best shows on TV right now. I'm not sure what exactly the secret of the island is yet, but I do think that it has something to do with second chances. Why did only certain people survive? It seems that everyone who is left was running from something or was in a bad place before the crash. Kate was a convict, Charlie was a drug addicted ex-rockstar, Sun was planning on leaving her husband, Locke had no feeling in his legs and Sawyer was a con man. Now by being stranded on this island where no one knows them, they have a second chance at life. Especially Locke, since now he can walk again.

It was also good seeing some actors that I recognized from other shows I use to watch:

Matthew Fox (Haunted, Party of Five)
Dominic Monaghan (Lord of the Rings)
Terry O'Quinn (The X Files)
Emilie de Ravin (Roswell)


Also, this is Evangeline Lilly's (Kate) first real speaking role..and I think she is doing an amazing job.

I had also heard that by the end of the first season, we'll know the secret of the island, so I have no idea how that will shape season 2 (*crosses fingers that the network picks it up*)

Someone else on LOST who's been in more stuff than I realized is Harold Perrineau. (Michael) He was in the Matrix sequels (Link), and Romeo + Juliet (Mercutio). I almost didn't recognize him without the dreads.


I knew that Evangeline Lilly was something of an unknown actor, but I didn't realize this is her first real part. WOW.

I was going to say too, that Terry was on Alias, he played Kendell! I love Kendell! And now I do recognize who Michael was.

And Emilie, she played Tess on Rosewell, I didn't like Tess much.

when i heard about this show i thought it'd be dumb. figured it'd be a cross between lord of the flies and castaway.


just so happens i accidentally taped an episode and gave it a chance. i think that was about 5 episodes back, don't know how much i missed. i think it might have been the one where they were running out of fresh water. i dunno...i work nights so i have to tape them and watch later.

but yeah, it's a pretty damn cool show. i didn't know there would be a second season, i was under the impression it was a mini-series. so i just assumed they'd either all die, get rescued, or give up and decide to just hang out there for a while by the end. a second season opens up a lot of possibilities; that'd be cool.


as far as what's up with the island itslef, i dunno if it's so much that it's haunted but rather that the people are. it's become pretty clear that they've all got something big going on that bothers them.

i was thinking when they broke into two groups, the cave people and the ones that stayed on the beach, that they might end up having some kind of fueding tribal thing going on like in lord of the flies but it looks like everyone's still getting along. with the exception of sawyer who's done nothing but cause trouble.

ad how are they supposed to find out who attacked sayid? unless someone admits to it. korean guy has been known to fly off the handle for dumb reasons, but he sticks with his chica most of the time.
i forget what locke was doing at the time. he's an older guy and he doesn't seem to feel too terribly out of place for a guy who's stranded with strangers. maybe he wants to live out his days there. maybe he likes it there.
maybe he brought them there.

i think of the theories, i like the purgatory one best.

Harold Perrineau pwns me. I think he's so freaking adorable. I can't believe there wasn't a thread started before now. But that's cool man, cool man.

I'm waiting for a Sawyer/Kate thing, because I think it's pointless that the two leads are made for each other... blah blah.
