Post Marcassa's Dreams

Well, here is my little thread devoted to my writing. I do draw as well, but not very well so don't ever expect such things to be on here. I'm only posting recent poetry and possibly some stories when I'm able to find them. The following are all written as Shakespearean sonnets. If you find that my meters/feet (iambic pentameter) are wrong, do not hesitate to correct me.

Flowers of a Façade
A wreath of the palest recollections
From which her stained palette she forever drew
Days of bliss- an ever imperfection
Of lurid shades beneath the impure hue
With ivory stones my absence she masks
Holding her the flowers rich of the new spring
The earthen rays of gold in all life basks
And through their auriferous crowning sing
The buds with radiance of life still
Stars of morning outcast in grandeur sweet
A fragile glimpse of a winter chill
An illusive night fraught with thy deceit
Now lay below me a semblant morrow
A lifetime of impenetrable sorrow

Winter Reborn
O Winter still sings mid flowers in June!
A casket of white roses doth She bloom
Wanton lands rest on absence rich in tune
From tattered weeds bearing Summer’s lost womb
Fragrant glimmers of ripe fruit flourish
She unfolds the light sky of life weary
A bouquet of pearl hues doth She nourish
Till the flowerets blossom black and teary
Within the snow-blown lands She sleeps anew
Mourning for the triumph of promised rays
Vain recollections of what She drew
When dull glisters would seethe the flustered days
To the rigid path of unborn floral
She waits in June with newly sprung laurel

Beauty's Final Insignia
I hold a mortal perfection that threats
Time dost dare take her to cherish and grow
What mercy that hath yet to reign now regrets
That 'pon her lifeless form death shall bestow
O thine angel smeared with aging’s advance
Cheeks that showed the ruing reds of fall gone
What love now doth look upon thee and glance?
Or not he look at all, lest life be drawn?
Mine eyes hath yet to muse upon her face
With fear, I do attain this brazen plight
A beauty needs not my heart to replace
All that contains her is worthy of sight
Even after my heart starts its slow decree
That which takes my love, hath no shame on she

The Wake of Winter
A breath of vividity, sleep sorrow
The Winter’s virgin lined in pallid hues
Awakes from Her damning rest, grieve ’morrow!
As the reddened heart envelops in blues
Oh, the Day returns to His lonely love
Her lips press still against the ever mourned
Solemn rays reposed at night come, His dove!
Luster of austere ardour lay them scorned
The early rising, but fades to the noon
Where once was teeming, now gives to bare ground
A wreath for Her parting, a last festoon
Pardons upon Her ripening chest crowned
Never, returns Her beauty, only woes
That seasons flower, that deadens a rose

I love your poems and I love the fact that there all connected to nature/seasons in some way.Is that were you get your inspiration from?

Thank you! I definitely get my inspiration from nature/seasons. I'm highly inspired by it in general. The literary movement of romanticism is easily my favorite.

I really like your poems, especially "Beauty's Final Insignia". I like the language you're writing in.

Thank you! That's one of my favorites I've written, too.

Beautiful job on your poems, Marcassa! I love the titles. And the structure looks very familiar... are they sonnets?

I wanted to pick out a favorite from the four you posted... but I can't. They're all too good. Keep posting!
