Maria lost to Venus in the semi's.

I at least got to listen to it at work online though. From what I heard, Venus was playing like the Venus of a couple years ago. To much for our golden girl I guess.

looks like it might be a davenport/venus final. they suspended play on the davenport game, but she was up 5-3.

I watched that, I was pretty annoyed! Venus played the best tennis I've seen her play in a few years now. The first set was a real scrap for the win, 7-6, with long drawn out rallies with awesome shots from both sides. It was amazing! Maria hit some absolutely fanstastic shots as you'd expect, causing the whole Court to explode in cheers...

But then Maria kind of lost it and that was disappointing, but she never gave up, not even when it was clear from the last few games where the game was headed, she made a lot of unforced errors which was a shame.

Well, I'll still support her in her other matches later this year, I still think she rocks

I was getting annoyed too. I was really hoping she would make it to the final on Saturday, it would of been awesome for her, and I would of actually been able to watch.*curses this timezone*

I could tell by listening to it on the radio that she was playing well, and not giving up. I could hear her grunting too.

I had to turn my computer down at work, people might of thought something else was going on. heh.

I watched the game yesterday. (I had no idea what was going on pointwise, because I don't follow tennis much.

) and I was hoping Maria would win. (Ok, so my rooting for her was pretty much one of those "ummm...yeah, I like her because her shoes are cool. I'm going for her" type of things.

) It actually looked like she'd win in the first set though. Venus was better for a bit, but then all of a sudden Maria just stepped up and outplayed Venus for awhile. It's a shame she had to lose it again. If she'd kept playing like she was halfway through the first set, she would have won, IMO.

I also read an article where they were discussing all the grunts that many players make. I guess the tennis league wants to ban the grunts, because oftentimes the player will do it to get on their oponents nerves, psych them out a bit, and hopefully score. I don't know about you guys, but Maria's grunting seemed to get on MY nerves more than Venus' yesterday.

I don't know much about tennis, but my favorite girl tennis player is Mauresmo. She is a good tennis player, and she is just cool. There is something about Sharapova that I don't like, sorry ^^
