So over the last month, the number of active members on this board has dropped from 420 to 340, almost down by 100 members. And yet, every day I'm seeing plenty of new members signing up. Why aren't we increasing in our activity? Why are we losing vetern members? Why won't n00b members post? What can we do to make EvBoard less bored?

Come on guys, this is depressing.

I'm guessing some of the decrease in activity spurs from the fact that peoples lives are picking up pace. Over the last month or two. College and high/middle school resumed.
I know I've been super busy lately. But I still try to check in from time to time.

hmm I don't know why people won't post. When I joined, I was automatically addicted. You guys are so fun, and there are some great discussions here. I wonder if maybe some n00bs think this is such a close-knit community, by reading the threads and getting the sense of how personal we are, that they feel like they would be unwelcomed? Maybe a lot of the new members just got into Ev and only come here to look for info. Don't know why they'd bother to join if they don't plan on posting. I don't really know what to do to make this place better, I love it the way it is. I'm sure if/when a new album comes out this place will start hoppin', but I don't know what to do until then. Maybe have Vince pose naked with nothing but combat boots and make that the site's banner?!

Out of curiosity, does anyone know where that Active Members estimation comes from? How does the site determine whether someone is active or not? At what point do they become inactive and drop off the list?

I think it's either not logging in or not posting for two weeks or a month. Something like that. XD

Maybe the newbies don't post because they are all obsessed with Ev and they figure that we don't actually talk about Ev all that much?

I dunno, we still have heaps of people here, plently of new posts and all that, but yeah,the newbies dont stick around, it's like one post and they leave. We need to figure out a way to make them stay.

Not being able to have a joke in a thread is a downer for me. Constant deletion when its unnecessary makes me not what to post. but I think from me, thats what some want!

Yes, I think it's one of the reasons why newbies don't stay long here. First and foremost, they join EvBoard since it's an Evanescence forum and they think they'll find here people who share their views and who love the band as much as they do. But most of the board members either don't like Ev anymore or say that they love the old Ev better. So, there are no discussions about the music or anything relating to the band. They get bored and go.. guess where? EvThreads, I believe, for there are loyal Ev fans.
(No offence guys. I understand that tastes differ and everything changes, but it's still the Evanescence board and that's the reason why people join it.)
