Thank you for your well thought out argument, and I'm glad you were able to meet the band while Rocky and John were still members. In response to your statements, I too met Amy and the guys. I don't think many of us have had experiences where Amy was a total bitch. Bands have to fake it if they don't feel like seeing anyone and they have to treat fans a certain way. Could you imagine the repercussions if someone from a band went off on a fan? I'm not judging Amy's character based on how she treats fans. Fans, in the eyes of celebrities are "lesser beings", at least to those who are egocentric. There aren't many humble souls out there. I was and always will be a fan of Dimebag Darrell (Guitar - Pantera) and to me, that is the quintessential image of someone who has had success and still respected fans and treated them as equals. No, I'm basing my feelings in terms of past actions and whether or not I like what I see and whether I can support someone who has acted a certain way towards those who are her peers. See here: http://www.evboard.com/showpost.php?...6&postcount=79 And this bothered me: Quote:

Rarely is someone fired for no good reason. I've fired people before and it was only for good reason. Btw, I was just reading Johnny Lecomp's Wiki page and it says he "checked out" of Evanescence in 2005 to work with some other guys - the future leaders of the world. If this is true, how can he say that he was working with Evanescence - maybe collecting a check for average strumming and typical cords (IMHO). If he was fired for no good reason then he should file suit for damages. I wonder what his severance pay was - like $1 million dollars or more, probably. |

And, John and Rocky were on extended vacation while Terry and Amy were writing TOD in 2005. So yeah, they had some time to kill. |

If John's guitar playing is mediocre, it's comparable to Amy's dime-a-dozen choirgirl vocals. I went to high school with people who could hit better high notes. Either way, Amy wouldn't be even close to where she is today without John OR Rocky. And it says volumes about her character [or lack thereof] for shuffing him off like he's nothing. Regardless of the talent issue, Amy still treated John like shit and THAT, my friend, is the point.

Wtf?
This was a very young band that was signed very quickly. All young bands are revolving doors where members are concerned and Evanescence appears to be no exception. Further, it was a band that, if we are all being honest, was never so much a BAND as more of a partnered solo act between Ben Moody and Amy Lee. It actually seemed to function something more along the lines of a NIN with hired guns to play already written songs. It was a mistake on Ms. Lee's part, in my opinion, to ever attempt to tout the band as a fully formed - co-writing band.
However, Ms. Lee appears to have a burgeoning list of enemies that were once intimate friends and it does not bode well on her incessant attempts to insist on her role as victim to the media and in her own songs. I find myself in a place of huge compassion for John LeCompt who sacrificed a lot of time with his wife and children to be more or less a studio musician for Amy Lee's band and then only to be treated unjustly in the end. I find it all very strange and self-serving. |
