I will never understand why people follow her like sheep when it's obvious she doesn't give a good goddamn about anyone else but herself.
AMY LEE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT YOU. Now shut up and go away.

This was supposed to be posted in the other thread but I'm not a PS: can someone quote it and post it there for me please?
I wanted to sit down and write up something coherent about my feelings related to Amy, and Evanescence, and perhaps how I see things progressing in the future. First, I’d like to make others aware that the displeasure felt by many fans who’ve been around for a while (or since the beginning) does not necessarily span from this event alone. I remember feeling extremely baffled when I first heard Ben’s side of the story as to how he left. It wasn’t in a huff, they’d even had meetings about how they were going to deal with the situation. She basically acted like a wounded dove or a damsel in distress to make everyone take her side. I think that “fan girls/boys” should consider the fact that she may not be telling whole-truths and that in most cases what is released to the public is done so in a way to keep the band (in this case Amy Lee) in high esteem. In terms of the situation with the manager, I find it very odd that she would have dealt with someone like that for as long as she did. Either she took statements completely out of context, or she can’t take a joke, or she completely fabricated the statements in order to get rid of someone who was still managing Ben’s career… and of course, Ben is the enemy, so why keep her old manager around. With Will, we were told that he left to spend more time with family, which was true, but there must have been enough negatives in terms of touring with Ev for him to decide to disband. If it was fun, if it was an experience that brought with it enough positives and made him feel fulfilled, then maybe he wouldn’t have left. The main event which changed my mind about Amy was the release of CMWYS. I believe that music can be a vehicle to heal: whether that be to rid one’s self of sorrow or guilt or anger. And, one can expect that in the event that a relationship should end people will write about it. What I simply cannot condone is PUBLISIZING the fact that it is about a certain person. Furthermore, there is a BIG difference between “I’m angry at you”, and publicly denouncing someone as being a drunk and putting them in a negative light to the point where it would hurt their reputation. Furthermore, I don’t really like people who are judgemental. I believe that depression, and addiction are similar. They both hinder a person’s ability to live well. And I’ve always said to myself that I would want to treat others with sympathy and guidance in the event that they should find themselves addicted to something. What really pissed me off about CMWYS is that it acquainted me with a side of Amy’s personality that I couldn’t agree with. Although the song and video were alluring I couldn’t help but feel… annoyed whenever I heard it. I’m not the type of person who can feel ok about profiting from someone else’s suffering… and that’s how I felt about that song. Although in interviews and articles about CMWYS the question about the inspiration behind the lyrics came up, I feel that if Amy had wanted to handle it differently, she could have. But, she seems to have a very vindictive side to her that she doesn’t really care to control. As long as she’s making money and it suits her, she’ll do it. Say what you will about Hilary Duff, I recently saw an interview with her and she was asked a similar question about one of her songs. She handled it like a dignified woman, and although I’m not a fan of hers or her music I can respect her because she didn’t let her anger over her split with Joel negate the fact that she was in a relationship with him for so long and that she cared about him. When I look back on the situation with Evboard it seems to me like it could have been handled differently on both sides, but what sticks out to me is the fact that Amy wasn’t willing to pay quite a small price (she's a rich bitch... keep that in mind) to keep the largest board dedicated to her band alive. It seems like she simply wanted to rid herself of anything that was tied to her past. And what made Evanescence so alluring for me was where they came from and the story their music told… and now I have to question it. Was Amy that much of an outcast when she was younger, was she wounded by the things she whines about in her music, is Ben really that bad? I don’t think it’s that cut and dry for me anymore. Amy seems to have been quite spoiled as a child. And not being in the popular crowd isn't really that painful, she has supportive parents... and honestly with regards to Shaun ignoring her, he was on tour when the break up happened... what was he supposed to do..."I need to quit my job so I can call my girlfriend non-stop"??? And Rocky and John’s departure just solidified it for me. As much as people want to say that you should pay attention to the music and nothing else, if I can’t bring myself to see an individual who is a musician in a good light it does influence my view of their music, because music is always a part of those who create it. |

Good points made in your entire post, bit I liked this one about CMWYS. When that song first came out and I had researched to find what it was about, and found out it was about Shaun Morgan. Seether is my favorite band along with Ev and I was kind of sad to learn that my two favorite bands were on bad terms. I also thought it was somewhat strange that Amy would accuse Shaun of being drunk all the time when she was also obviously drunk on the Anywhere But Home DVD. Also at the very end of the video, Amy laughs and then she keeps looking up at the camera made me very uncomfortable to see because it was a new Amy I had never seen before. I started to see some of arrogance I had seen with other pop-stars in the past. Furthermore, I know that Shaun has stated how he feels on the subject and that he would never hang up their ditry laundry for all the world to see. A few of my friends have stated that they bet Shaun is going to come up with a great retalitory song for Amy but I know he shall take the high road and not blantantly bash her to the press and the whole world. If he does have a song about her his lyrics shall be more subtle than hers. (which happens to be another reason why TOD is sub-par to Ev's other stuff. )
