Metallica
Hey all, I am going to see Metallica live in concert tonight and besides being totally stoked, i am curious as to whether or not anyone else out there has seen them lately live and what you thought of the performance... I will certainly let you know what i think when i get back from it... I've seen them twice before ('97 and '99) and interested to see if they still have the old fire for the live performances...

I saw them a couple weeks ago in Vegas. It was an incredible show. There should have been more pyrotechnics though.
But I'm not totally into them and I was f'in impressed. We were right in front on the floor. They played a great variety of songs, although I know none from St. Anger. Also, Godsmack put on a really good opening show. You'll have an awesome time. I haven't ever seen them perform live before so I can't say if this show is as great or better then their others, but it was most definately NOT disappointing. |

well i back from the show, and definitely a little more deaf... four words... THAT KICKED FUCKIN' ASS!!!!!!!! that is the third time i've seen them and i dunno if the passage of time has dulled my impressions from the previous two times or what, but they just seem to have gotten better since i last saw them live... that was an amazing show, the setlist was diverse and awesome, and i have nothing but positive things to say about that show!! Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! they're my favorite band for a reason folks, and that's it right there...
also, to give props to Godsmack, wow, they are the best opening act i've ever seen for a show... they had the crowd goin' hard, and they were just excellent... they put on this head to head drum thing with the lead singer and the actual drummer and i've never seen that go wrong before, and it didn't tonight either... they played off on each other beautifully... all in all, out of five stars, i give this night, ten!!!

I saw them at Reading last year - I was a bit disappointed. Although they didn't play a lot from St Anger (thankfully), the set just seemed to be too long for them, they went off stage a lot. I guess it's different for a real gig, and not just at a festival.

I'm aware they recently opened up a website where you can download their performances, but I wonder if they put up every show or just select shows.
