Ok I've heard a lot of rumors going around about one of Evanescence's songs being about selling your soul to satan. Last time i checked, I've never heard a song like that, except perhaps for Whisper which i thought could loosely be interpreted as resisting the temptation to sell your soul to satan. If there is a song with that intent i'm curious to know which one it is, or if Evanescence intends their songs to mainly be interpreted individually by the listener. Thanks

Edit: I just want to say this was not something that I thought myself. This was a rumor that I heard and did not believe, but in case of the remote possibility of it being true i wanted to check it out. I have already heard the songs, (even read the lyrics btw) and that was the furthest thing from my mind until I heard the rumor. It never hurts to double check, you know what i'm saying?

What happened to that "outrageous rumors" thread. This would have been perfect for it.

People interpret songs differently, but there was no song written by the band where the intended meaning was selling your soul to the devil.

It's true.
The christian act in the beginning was all a ploy to convert everyone to Satanism. When that didn't work they just started using subliminal (or not so?) messages.

This thread presupposes three things.
1. You have a soul.
2. There is a satan.
3. Your soul is worth something to satan.

Right. After, and only after, those three things have been proved should we inquire as to whether any Evanescence song contemplates the economic exchange of your soul to satan (for what?).

You know, this is the third or fourth time that I've heard Ev associated with Satanism/selling your soul to Satan/something that has to do with death/Satan/etc. I actually think it's pretty funny, considering the entire Christian Band controversy. (Actually, the best I heard was that Amy is a Satanist and that all "her" songs are about death. That one made me crack up)

None of the songs are about that stuff. While they've told us where some of the songs have come from, Ev have said that they'd like us to take our own meanings from the songs, and if someone interprets a song that way...well then that's a bit weird, but it's all good for them lol.

BTW, welcome to the board. Post in the Introduce Yourself forum, if you haven't already, since you're new

It is pretty outrageous...that's why I wanted to check back with the source. I'm not just new to this forum, i'm also a fairly new fan and I figured the best way to get the right answer was to post a thread here. Thanks for the info.

I agree with Katya, I don't think the songs are about it either. I find it a bit funny too, I defiantley don't connect satan when I listen to ev songs.

I think people should just have there own meanings to the songs and if they connect the song with Satan it will be odd but thats what they think.
