Yeah that would kick ass, but I don't think I'd be able to go, if the ticks sell fast (as I expect) I won't be able to get mine, plus I'm not aure whether it's for all ages or restriced to 18+ plus I don't think my rents would let me go anyway, this bites!!

Yay! Guess who tickets to a meet and greet with the band before the concert? That would be me! God bless MTV :)

Really how'd u score that????

Scarlettfish
12-16-2003, 03:54 PM
MTV Most Wanted held a competition last week, which I entered and then forgot about completely. And yesterday they rung me up and told me that I won. Yay! :)

mknell
12-16-2003, 04:28 PM
So what exactly do u get
I don't mind not having it for Sydney because it'll be like the Linkin Park Meet & Greet & be right before the concert meaning you loose your spot & don't get 2 be right up front where I'll be. Meh I should stalk em instead lol

Scarlettfish
12-16-2003, 04:51 PM
Um, I won a few CDs (nothing especially wonderful, apart from Fallen, unless you're into Delta Goodrem), tickets to the concert (which i already have, but what the hey) and tickets to the Meet & Greet. I haven't got the details yet,but I'm assuming it'll be before the concert. I don't really mind not being in the front - I'd hate to be caught up in the moshpit - so it's really all good. I'm so excited!

Hey everybody!

I don't post here often, but I wanted to know if anybody was planning on meeting up before the Hordern show? I am planning on being there hours before teh doors open to secure a front row spot so if anybody wants to meet up, I'll be more than happy to say hello ^_^

Have fun guys! :D

So please, if there is ANYONE who has 2+ tickets and for some ungodly reason can't go, please, can I buy them from you? I been trying to win them off the radio and no such luck...god i'm desperate. lol

First one to post after the show? :D

It wasn't a bad show I thought. First support band was better than the second IMO. The rhythm guitarist in Finger Eleven was a madman even if he barely struck a chord all night.

Ev's show was short but sweet. I think the highlight was the bridge in My Immortal. You could feel some magic coming.

It would have been nice to hear more lead vox in the mix. I was standing behind the mixing console and was tempted to lean in and get the levels right. 8)

It was sooo cool!
Listened to the cd on the way home and the bass from the car speakers felt so... pittyful after the bass comming out of those speakers

Pros:
2nd band was ok
My Immortal <-- song rocked!
Finger eleven rhythm guitarist <-- gotta love the guitar swinging

Cons:
I didn't like the first band much...
Would have liked to hear Amy a bit louder
The sound garden song didn't do much for me

Wow, I thought that was amazing. I'm too tired to do a full review right now, but it was just perfect. Amy looked amazing. And I got to see them perform Breathe No More, 4th of July and Bring Me To Life at the soundcheck! Yay!

:D AWESOME!!!!!!it doesn't get any better then this!!...Yeah,I agree that the mix for Amy was down, but that didn't matter....getting to see EV perform was special!

Highlight for me was Breath no more, and My Immortal...pure magic!....and Amy's outfit...bliss

I liked Finger Eleven better than the first band...but thats me!

Can't wait till the next one!!

ENJOY!!

The concert was AWESOME!! I agree with andy lee, she sure could sing much louder. I luv Farther Away, so that was the highlight for me when she sung this and My immortal was sweeeeet.

I felt quiet sorry for the 1st band. No one really paid attention to Full Scale, Finger Eleven and Evanescence topped the night.

Being my 1st concert, Its one unforgetable night...

So bloody awesome! I should've gotten there earlier though *dammit*

We finally arrived at the Hordern Pavilion. I could see on the didgital marquee of Fox Studios "Evanescence Jan 11 at the Hordern", in the car we saw the long line, and I mean long. We had to cross the street and join the end which wound around like a loop to the entrance. We talked about GG, and we felt we should've been more excited, but we were anxious and paranoid, so yeah. There was this guy behind us with this get up that made him look like he came off the Underworld movie set, minus the fangs, and he, a guy and girl (who looked more punk) were talking about music, *the guy with the get up hoping Dirt wasn't supporting Ev* Marilyn Manson, Australian Idol, how he thought Shanon should've won, 70s music, how it's coming back (me mentally concurring with that), that guy was hilarious.

Anyway, we finally reached the other side of the road, now at the ticket barrier, tore tix, looked at the merchandise, we both got these cool Evanescence T-shirts ($50 each though, and the more I think about it, I wish I got the one with the Ev siwrl on the fornt and the Evanescence World Domination Tour with the places they had toured on the back) and went in and it was the opening act, Full Scale, an Aussie band, they weren't bad, the front man was quite energetic, shirtless, loved using the f word, then a break (comment by me, "and then there was light").

We slowly edged closer, then it was Finger Eleven, pretty good, break. I finally figured out they put a black curtain so we couldn't see the drum set, instruments, etc because we kept hearing the instruments and not seeing them. So these two talls guys stop in front of us, tell us they'll move once it starts, then poor Ally had to stand behind the one who took off his shirt, poor girl.

Anyway, it's 9:30pm, the background music stopped, lights went down, cheering, curtain opens, there's the black Evanescence swirl with Amy infront of it on a slightly raised platform, Rocky Gray on the drums infront of her and the swirl, John LeCompt on my left, and basically I couldn't see the other guitarists because they were on the other side. Amy came down and people's hands and heads were in the way, we were about 12 rows from the front, but I could see snippets of her. Evanescence opened up with Haunted, then Going Under but the rest of the set list I'm going to mention might not be exactly accurate because I couldn't remember the order, but here's what I estimated it to be:

Haunted
Going Under
Everybody's Fool
Breathe No More
Farther Away
(a song by Sound Garden, forgot the title)
*my film runs out when they change the setting slightly so she's on the keyboard :(, I hope the pictures I took actually had them in it, rather than the sea of heads and hands infront of us*
My Immortal (with the band of course, hehe, Amy almost said "fears" when she meant to have sang "tears" but doesn't matter :)
Bring Me To Life (now if ya didn't know this song, then what the hell were you doing there)
Taking Over Me
Tourniquet
Imaginary
My Last Breath

They left the stage after My Last Breath, but the crowd were cheering and chanting "encore" and "we want more" and they came out and Amy said something along the lines of "okay, one more" although her voice sounded a bit hoarse before it steadied, then they did Whisper, so freaking good! Then the lights did go off, we decide to have a closer lok at the stage, but decided screw that halfway to it, and head back out, still enthralled, we were so psyched, I mean, sure we were partially deaf and stuff, but that didn't matter. I told Ally, "My right knee and leg may feel shotty, but I don't care." After being a bit lost as to where her dad was, *Ally, "maybe we should ask someone, someone who's not drunk" but she see's the sign that says Driver Avenue, and we get in, wow, and I told her, "I'm still in there". This was one of the best nights ever. I want to relive this night. Once again, Amy Lee is THE most rocking chick in the world!!!!

Sorry if that was long, you tell that was my first concert eh? ;)

Cool pics btw. and I agree, I was listening to Fallen afterwards, and my bass system didn't compare to the concert :D

MasterPlan
01-11-2004, 11:32 PM
How many of you noticed that Rocky was just walking casually amongst the crowd between bands? I didn't see a single person recognize him, or at least ig yhey did, they (like me) didn't feel like bothering the guy.

Scarlettfish
01-11-2004, 11:35 PM
The set list was:

Haunted
Going Under
Taking Over Me
Everybody's Fool
My Last Breath
Farther Away
Even In Death
4th of July
Breathe No More
My Immortal
Bring Me To Life
Imaginary

Then they left the stage, and came back out a few minutes later for the encore, which was Whisper.

Excellent concert! It rocked! Amy sounded amazing. She really loves Imaginary - you can tell, because she put so much energy and emotion into it. Although for my money, My Immortal was the best performance of the night.

Because I went to the soundcheck and the Meet & Greet, I also saw a bit of 4th of July, the whole of Breathe No More and a bit of Bring Me To Life at the soundcheck. It was amazing! Mostly it was just Amy at the piano, but she said hello to us and was really cool about us being there.

Once again, this show rocked. Basically the same setlist as the Brisbane show, minus a few little improvs and Zero.

I stayed about halfway back for the entire set. Wasn't really up for a mosh with heaps of people cause I was spent from the night before.

I must say, Breath No More was fantastic. And Bring Me To Life (despite being played ad-nausiem on radio) and Tourniquet are just two of the most rocking songs. They just went off. Loved it, and am dissapointed I can't get the time off to go to the rest of the tour.

I took many short videos, and I can't recognise most of them because the sound is static due to the massive bass system 8). However, I did recognise My Last Breath coz she sung it so beautifully!!

This is in 3 parts coz the camera can only take a few seconds of video each time, and the quality is real sh*t.

I thought John played lead guitar now?

All in all, it's shiny, shiny pop that's about as goth as U2 is gospel, which probably explains the audience - nary a cape and a mere handful of PVC corsets to be seen amidst the generic T-shirted teen crowd, who sang along faithfully to the radio hits and stood politely during the album filler. But if Evanescence survive the difficult-second-album syndrome, Lee could well prove an interesting musical force.

  GRRRRR

What a pathetic critic. There is no album filler in Fallen and the other songs he didn't recognise weren't even on Fallen

Scarlettfish
01-13-2004, 03:07 AM
I don't know what concert that critic was at, but it wasn't the same one I was at. Everyone sang everything, not just the singles. Imaginary and Tourniquet, for example, were probably the two the crowd got into the most. Oh, and Whisper. Album filler my ass!

Hhhh. Sounds like there're a few people who didn't like Full Scale (amazing, I got it right - I kept getting their name wrong all that night). I personally felt that the lead singer was way too full of himself (perhaps that's what they should call the band), and his little speech about "this is a country of contraditions" and all his 'fight-the-power-the-Man's-keeping-you-down' was really rather pathetic. I mean, was anyone stirred into action by that? I'd like to see what he does to make a difference. If a band member going to put forward their political (or other) beliefs in public like that, then at least put those beliefs into practice, like Midnight Oil and Pearl Jam. Otherwise, they're just all the talk. But anyway, I didn't think their music was much chop either - couldn't understand him 95% of the time - and the way he kept calling the crowd 'motherf-ers' really got me cranky. Does he expect that to get us all excited for him? Fair dinkum...
Anyway, Finger Eleven were better, but I was disappointed they didn't play their song off the DAREDEVIL soundtrack, 'Sad Exchange'. 'Nuff said about them.
Evanescence, however, were amazing. Those versions of 'Tourniquet', 'My Immortal', and 'Bring Me to Life' were truly awesome. I don't think I've ever heard them sound so good. And even better, they didn't feel like they had to put on a glitzy, over-the-top show - the music spoke for itself. Now THAT'S a real band for ya!

I'd have to say, one of the best shows i've been to ever! 2nd only to foo fighters.
I got to fox studios at about 12:30 in the day just so i could get up the front, if i wasnt for my friend i would have been in the right up the front middle. but i still got first row, but i was in front of the mixing desk, could still see every thing. My immortal was the high light, and whisper was cool too. Amy's vocals could have used a boost though. I also rocky wandering around, the girl next to me got a hug from him, i didnt really want to bother the guy. i noticed about half way though the set some guy dive out of the crowd with a camera pointing at the stage too, lets just say the bouncer was not a happy chappy.

All in all awesome night

Sorry bout the lengthy post.

:D I was at the Sydney concert, and it was absolutely awesome! I was about three metres from the front of the stage, just left of the middle, and I can honestly say it was the best concert I have ever been to! My view was unfortunately blocked 97% of the time by some very tall fans, but being so close, I didn't have to see everything, I swear I could feel the power of the music and Amy Lee's enchanting vocals.

I had been hoping all night that they were going to play "Hello", and they didn't, but when Amy played the first few chords of "Breathe No More" on her keyboard, I had a major spack attack on the spot! Everybody started cheering even louder - if that was humanly possible - and myself included, and it was so funny when she spoke back to us; "What? You don't know this!" She sounded highly amused, as were we all. (I'd been playing that song to death for months before that night.)

Even though the venue was small, I felt that the Hordern Pavillion gave us a much more intimate performance, compared to if it had been held at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. I felt so privilaged to be there and to see them up close and personal. It made my year! Rock On, Sydney! Live On, Evanescence!

I went to the Sydney concert and I have to say that it was simply amazing! I wasn't able to get up close to the front, but I still had a blast. Amy was beautiful as always and her voice was stunning, and the band was mind-blowing. I'd have to say that the Hordern was definitely the better venue. Like someone already said, it provided a more intimate performance.

I was reading through the earlier posts and I don't remember them playing "Breathe No More". I love Breathe No More, so I would have remembered them playing it. I know that they played "Even In Death" and not many of the people there would have known that song. I swear that they didn't play BNM. =|

Ahhhhh!!!EVANESCENCE CONCERT RULES!!
I only joined here yesterday and am so disapointed I didn't earlier!
Well I went to the concert, obvioulsy. For what I was wearing well...I had a purple skirt on,docs, and my Evanescence t-shirt from Hot Topic.Ooo also I did my make up the way Amy had it at Rock Am Ring,'cept mine was pink & black.
The show? How awesome was it?I was alone most of the night because my friend was moshing but I started to cry because I thought to myself,"Your seeing Evanescence!Amy is right in front of you!SCREAM!!" Unfortunately the people around me were so boring. They did nothing!!I was waving my arm about then I turned around and everybody was so still.I felt weird so I put it down.I ran out of film in the first 7-9 minutes after I figured out I had to WIND or is it winde? the camera.
Finally for the supports.Finger Eleven was so boring but Full Scale were so cool.I never thought an Aussie band could rock.
And umm I bought a t-shirt to.My second one,woohoo.
Evanescence please come back to Australia!!

I should have stayed back to see if Ev walked out later on, but I didn't think of that did I? Lol. Next time Ev come to Oz I'm going to be at the doors of the venue at 10am the day of the show. australia is pretty huge their bus couldn't have gone from brisbane to sydney in one day, well maybe it could, but the band would have been in terrible shape, not fit enough for a concert

Good on you. I wanted to get there at about 5pm so that the line wouldn't be that long and we could still get to the front but my friends didn't want to go to the front and were like you're going to get squashed and you won't be able to see anything. And a fun thing though was when Finger Eleven came on the stage and started saying "we came all the way down here from Canada for you guys, and you probably never heard about us" I was screaming at the top of my lungs "DUDE!!!!!

LMAO!!! Ok, that was posted a while ago, but I just couldn't stop when I read the "Would have liked to hear Amy a bit louder" part... Then you wish you were where my girlfriend and I were... We had the speaker blasting in our left ear about 2 or 3 meters away from us!! lol, our ears have been ringing for at least a week after the concert, lmao!!!

Does anyone have more pictures from that concert?? I saw the ones posted ... hum, well the first ones that were posted, the second batch just appeard as red 'x' s... And well if you went to see the pictures from my blog, you most likely noticed that my camera sucks (coz really, we were way closer than that, my camera always makes things appear like they are way farther than they really were...) and we can't see Amy all that much...

i was at the sydney concert and it was my first time at any concert. I absolutely love evanescence so i made sure that this one was my first concert. i got to the hordern pavillion at around 6pm and started to line up. My friends and i thought that we were at the end of the line but as the time for the doors to open came closer we realised we were wrong. the line went all the way around fox studios and was growing even more by the time i went in to the pavillion. My friends and i got right up the front and stayed and listened to full scale but then went outside to get something to eat while finger eleven was on. we came bak in and stood right up the front again. when evanescence came onstage evry1 started to push forward towards the stage and me being probably being one of the youngest ones there (Im 14) was squashed up against complete strangers. i got separated from my friends and "go to kno" some other pplz in the crowd very well. half way through the performance i ran out of breath so i tried to walk out but didnt get anywhere. the pplz around me told me u cant walk out of the mosh pit u have to go up and ova the top of evryone. they asked me if i wanted to get out of the mosh pit and i just said yes, they picked me up and pushed me towards the front of the crowd. the security guard right at the front between the edge of the stage and the front of the crowd picked me up off the top of the crowd and carried me around underneath the seating stand things to where the first aid part of the pavillion was. when the security guard picked me up off the top of the crowd i was right next to the edge of the stage and then as Amy was singing she bent down and there i was in the security guards arms. it was sooooo cool. then in the first aid part they checked my pulse and gave me heaps of water. then i wasnt allowed to go bak in the mosh pit but i was allowed to go and sit on the steps around the side of the stage where some of the security guards stood. i sat there for the rest of the night and had the best view. i will never forget the Sydney Evanescence concert!!

i was at the sydney concert and it was my first time at any concert.

Was my first concert ever too!! oh well... first GOOD and REAL concert actually... I just went to a local band's mini concert (like 300-400 ppl tops) when I was 13 or 14... blah, nothing compared to Evanescence... In Australia no less!! lol

Oh and all this lining up... I think it was about 4:30 when we got there and there were so many people there already but no one had really started to line up, so we just stood there for a while, then decided to go to the bathroom across the street, then when we came out everyone just started to line up and the line was quite long already, so we ran to take a place and people just kept comming... lol, at some point we couldn't even see the end of the line and people arriving would say "OH CRAP!!! There's such a long line, DARN!!! Told you we should've got her earlier!!" lol, it was funny!! My girlfriend, my friend and I spent the hour and a half in line up reading what was written on people's shirt when they walked by, LOL!!! Some of them were so darn funny!! And I was trying not to talk too much because whenever I did, people turned around and either smiled or gave me a weird look when they heard my oh so wonderful canadian accent... lol

Did any of you saw that girl with the fairy wings?! The wings were so darn cool!!! lol I want fairy wings...

Tourniquet: although it's good that you had fun, take care at other concerts. Being trampled upon or jammed up against a crush of fans is NOT cool or fun whatsoever. You especially have to be careful in mosh pits where total retards do a "death circle": everyone charges in literally aiming to crush people. I haven't been in one, but a few of my friends have and it was almost fatal to them.

Anyway, on a more cheerful note, I plan to take the entire day off and line up in the morning the next time Evanescence comes to Sydney :)

I'll be there too with my girlfriend!! How about we meet then and dress like Amy and get a guitar and piano and sing out loud ev songs to make the wait shorter! lol... And try not to get arrested... Although I don't know if that would be illegal in Australia (I find some of your laws pretty strange, but in a good way so I don't complain!) but I know we'd probably get arrested for something like that here in Canada...

I know. Although I saw Frenzal Rhomb and Bouncing Souls last thursday night at The Metro and I'm going back there next week to see Dropkick Murphys. This thursday I'm seeing George too. Seems like March is the gig month. Oh, and I'm going to Live and Local as well, haha.

@ Livo and Fairy Dust: That's exactly what I'm going to be doing next time Evanescence come to Sydney. I vow that I'm going to be at the front of the stage next time.

Still can't believe how good the gig was. A Perfect Circle probably would have been as good if it wasn't for the car accident on the way and the hospital after blah blah... but now i need more gigs! i need gig's to live! but none of the bands i like are touring :( Come back Evanescence!!!

Even though no one has posted in here for awhile and the Breathe No More discussion was discussed realier in the thread I'm still going to add my bit.Breathe No More was the only song I didn't know out of the whole setlist and when I was sent a copy of the song from a friend I listened to it and that performance came back into my head. And it's funny because that is the only song I can remember with all the cheering and clapping.

Also .:Tourniquet:. I have to say you definately were not the youngest there.I too am 14 bit I seen like an 8 year old on some guys shoulders.I felt really bad because he could get hurt being so close to the front.Anyways....

:) To refresh your memory visually, I've updated my website, and all the vid I recorded are there now (you can actually hear Breathe no more without so much static as there are in the other videos).

So none of the band went over to the fans after the show? Were there many people that stayed back? I should have stayed back, but I didn't think of it did I? I was still too excited, lol. And I was hanging for a mango smoothie so I went to New Zealand Ice Cream to get a smoothie and saw a friend from music camp that was at the show as well, so that was cool.

Me and my friend Mel were going to stay to see if Amy and the guys were going to come out and say hi, but we really had to go because of where I live it's a really long drive from Fox Studios. So, sorry, I didn't get to meet Ev. I would have loved to meet Will and John, but my timing to leave was pretty crap!

There was a girl with fairy wings? I didn't see her. I did see, however a girl that had a white tank top on, or it could have been an off the shoulder top and she had "Going Under" written on it in black paint.

This is a true story, it happened to a friend of a friend of mine. Apparently these guys who turned up at the door at about 1pm to wait were invited inside by the band. The band performed a few songs to them, one being MI. I was told that the guys were crying with happiness.

So, anyone know anything about this?
