Yes I'm a total hometown fan.
Things are nice and dandy down here in the NL Eastern. The Braves are really going to have to work for the Division Title this year with the Washington Nationals kicking ass all the time. At least it's more entertaining than usual.
The Braves have good bats this year even without Larry in the line up this time around. Our pitching is basically average. It's been nice seeing the Braves have to convert to a more cunning defensive/strong hitting team over the last few seasons. They're really going to have to kick it into gear by August. There's no way they'd survive as a wildcard team.
Even if they make Division they'll be destroyed in the NL playoffs. Such is baseball. The Braves have had their glory years now Braves fans have to buckle up for a few rough seasons. My money is on the Nationals for division but the Braves might pull it off.

What an amazing year for the Red Sox and the Yankees. Both 91-64 going into the last week of the regular season. You can't ask for anything more except for another gem of a series at the end of the season and maybe even again in the playoffs.
On top of that Cleveland and Chicago are also going to battle it out for the end of the season. 4 teams battling for 3 spots. Who makes it in?
I think it'll be Boston, Cleveland, and the Yankees. Somehow lol.

(My rants on the game shall start...)
Has anyone, besides me, been watching the game between the Indians and the White Sox?!?! It's top of the 13th! Game's tied 1-1! We (Indians) NEED to win; the Yankees lost, because they're mean like that... meh! I'll be up all night waiting for this game to end. Argh... the bases were freaking loaded and we got out, we are just retarded right now.
EDIT: ARGH! It's 3-1 White Sox now. I'm just so depressed; if the Indians do not win this for me, I will be so sad. Why must they always get my hopes up like this? Just to dash them ::sigh:: C'mon Indians... please please please win the game.
EDIT 2: I'm just going to bury my disappointment that is the Indians in the background where I can't let it upset me. I cannot believe they hit a home run in the 13th... way too little, too late. Man. We could have had that game twice... now we're an entire game behind instead of just half a game. :( I'm so sad. 3-2 that's just poo.
End.

Cleveland now has to win their game today. If Cleveland loses, then the fate of the playoffs is not in their hands anymore. There would have to be a sweep in the Boston-Yankees series by Boston for Cleveland to get in. Cleveland though has to win at least one game in this series to stay in it.

What a wild ending to the White Sox-Angels game tonight.
Kelvim Escobar of the Angels pitches what looked like strike three to end the ninth and then A.J. Pierzynski apparently not seeing or hearing an out call runs to first base and gets awarded first base after the home plate umpire reverses his own call.
The rule is if the ball doesn't reach the catcher's glove and the batter swings on strike three, they may run to first base. It's the only way you can get 4 strikeouts in an inning.
That led to a stolen base and a game winning hit by Joe Crede.
It doesn't really mean anything now since the game is over, but will this be enough to get instant replay talk once again going over the winter meetings?

The Houston Astros are one win away from their first World Series ever and The Chicago White Sox are looking for their first World Series in 56 years.
As of this post, they are three outs away.
Angels fans will likely never forget the name of Anthony John Pierzynski after this series.
In yet another controversial play, Kelvim Escobar tags A.J. with the glove but the ball is in his bare hand and therefore is safe at first base.
Joe Crede, who's been giving the Angels all sorts of problems this series gave them yet another when he hit a bleeder up the middle that gave the White Sox the lead yet again.
The White Sox at this point are up 5-3 with nobody out in the top of the 9th.
At this point, the Angels had better hope for a Boston like comeback. It's happened before and is not impossible...but at this point it looks like the White Sox are the team to beat. Period.
Edit: The White Sox have made it. Great accomplishment for the Sox.
Angels fans, as Joe Buck said, are among the classiest fans in baseball. Had a hell of a season and beating the Yankees is not something I'd consider to be an easy task.
Such a great series for the Sox. Great starting pitching and at this point while the Astros and Cardinals are both strong teams, I have to consider the Sox as favorites if they were to face either or.
They've got a rested bullpen that's for damn sure.
Edit 2: Mike Scioscia is officially my favorite coach in baseball. He was dejected obviously, but was classy in defeat.

Quite frankly if I were Brad Lidge, no offense to his talent as a closer, but had I been in his position, I'd have completely bitched out to Pujols. I would have intentionally walked the bases loaded...because if you think about it they could have given up a base hit and the worse thing that would have happened is that they'd have had tied the game.
Bottom line, I don't think I'd have pitched to Pujols in a situation with the game on the line like that.

The Chicago White Sox, down 2 runs in the 7th inning, load the bases up for Paul Konerko and Houston puts in one of their most reliable bullpen pitchers Qualls.
Konerko, reminiscent of the Pujols homer in the NLCS hits a grandslam and puts the Sox up 6-4.
You would think that was the death blow, right? Wrong!
Bobby Jenks came up and blew the lead with a 2 run single by Jose Vizcaino.
But the White Sox came up and made up for that with a game winning homerun by Scott Podsednik, putting the Sox up 2-0 going back to Houston.
What a game.
Scott Podsednik didn't have a homerun in the regular season and came up HUMONGOUS tonight. 2nd homerun in this postseason.
Even though they are up 2-0...anything can happen.

Well this series is all but over. The White Sox are just to damn good. There is no way the Stros' will rattle off 4 in a row...

Tell that to the Bosox...
I still don't think they can beat the White Sox. ;P

Considering they were the only team to EVER come back down 3-0 in a best of 7 series, I'm guessing it's not going to happen 2 years in a row. I bet we dont see anything like that again for a very long time. Sure it's possible, but HIGHLY unlikely. Especially when you look at the White Sox pitching and their clutch hitting. Plus they have won 15 of their last 16 games. They're just a better team, period.

As good as the Astros have been overall, they're overmatched.
They've had chances to win 2 games in a row and this thing could have been Astros 2-1, but the bullpen and in last night's case the starting pitching couldn't hold on.
If the Sox don't win tonight, they'll win it in 5.

Plus they can't hit with runners in scoring position AT ALL.

Why is it that any team with the word 'Sox' in it is good?? I know that has nothing to do with how a team plays, but still, I think that's kind of a weird coincidence...I really don't care who wins (since mah Yanks didn't even make it  ) even though I'm feelin' kinda bad for the 'Stros, since this is their first trip to the World Series, and they were so close, but the Sox are looking sharp. This isn't a sympathy contest, so let the best team win...

ROF'ngL @ the Git 'r Done sign I just saw.
Right now 1-0 Sox.
3 outs away.
Edit 1: 2 outs away and a runner on second. Chris Burke is up.
Edit 2: Holy fucking shit at Juan Uribe. That is the catch of the year...possibly quite literally. One out away. But there's still a runner on second. Base hit ties it.
Edit 3: One strike away. WHITE SOX WIN!@% Oh My God!

Those last two defensive plays Uribe made were amazing!! Especially the catch for out #2.
Congrats to the White Sox, they were definitely the best team and deserve to be champs.
Poor Astros, couldnt hit with RISP for the life of them. Since they scored their last run in the 8th inning yesterday, they left 18 men on base! Ouch!

Give it up for the Astros though. Great year for them. They kept every game close this series and had they faced any less of a team, I think they could have swept the other way.
The Sox though were 12-1 during this post season and their loss came in another very close game...they were pretty much untouchable.
It's been strange times since 2001. 3 of the last 4 teams to win the World Series only won the Wild Card and the last two teams hadn't won their last World Series since the 1910s and whereas it was the White Sox winning first and the BoSox winning in '17 and '18 respectively, it was the other way around in these past two years.
[edit] Curse those rechid 02' Angels!! We were 6 friggin outs awayyyyyyy!!!!!

The Cubs (ha ha ha, not really)
Two curses have been broken in just as many years. Maybe the cubs should start letting people bring goats to the game!

So the Mets made two big moves last off-season to get Beltran and Martinez, and have wasted to time this off-season. Carlos Delgado and Billy Wagner will now be sporting Mets jersey's in the upcoming season.
I'm sure this puts a smile on your face Chris. :)

Whoa, Johnny Damon is a Yankee!!! That'll be kinda weird seeing him in pin stripes. I'm also guessing the beard and the hair will get chopped too. haha.
The giants have picked up Matt Morris and Steve Finley so far. I'm happy with that. :)

Yes, he HAS to shave and cut his hair. Clubhouse rule.
I was upset at first, cause I love Johnny...but then I realized he'll be all ugly when they cut his hair.
So, no Nomar though, right?
