I borrowed their debut album from the radio station I work in (I love college) and it's a pretty good album. For those who don't know about 30 Seconds to Mars, the band has Jared Leto, actor of really good movies such as Requiem for a Dream and Prefontaine. The AMG rating on this album is 4.5 stars out of 5! I like Capricorn, Edge of the Earth, Fallen, Oblivion, and Buddha for Mary (even though Buddha for Mary is probably the strangest song I have ever heard).

I like them. When I first heard that Jared Leto was in it I was surprised. VH1 said that this was one of the few bands that an actor was in that doesn't suck.

I heard Capricorn last year not even knowing he was in the band and I liked it. I heard that Jared was in the band on the same special and I had a similar "really?" reaction. They are really good when you compare such actor to singer artists as J-Lo, Nick Cannon, and the scourge of good music everywhere Hilary Duff.

Ive been listening to these guy for close to a year now, and love it. One of the few cds where you can listen to the entire album, and really like all the songs on it.

I really love these guys. Every single song that ive heard so far has been brilliant. I have to thank budha for mary for putting me onto them a few months ago. Im currently in the provess of getting their cd off ebay as i haven't been able to find a copy for sale in Australia. I really look forward to a follow up album.

30STM is awesome.. a friend I talk to online reccomended them and so I downloaded Capricorn (Brand New Name) and I'm so gald I did.. this band kicks ass, they're great. I got their CD :D ... ahh the wonderful feeling of liking bands that aren't very popular...

OMG, OMG, OMG!!!! MORE FANS - WOOHOO!!!! So, ah…are any of you guys/gals members of the Echelon? Any of you post in their forums?!

Just as an FYI, they really, really, REALLY don’t like the “J-man” or his day-job mentioned in the same context as their band. This is understandable, when you think of all the other actors/actresses who *tried* to pull off the “I’m with the band” bit, and didn’t do so hot. They don’t want to be compared. They want people to like them for their talents as musicians and the music they produce, not because they have a… well known front-man. I myself didn’t know “he” was in it until after I’d bought the CD (that my guitarist Rienzo made me go out and buy) and was like, “Whoa! Sweet!”. We are working on three of their covers – “Buddha for Mary” (Album-version, NOT demo-version), “End of the Beginning”, and “Echelon”. And yeah, I sing it, so obviously we don’t sound like them – me being female and all – but it’s for promotional purposes, so whatever. We do a good job with what we’ve got and we do it for them. That’s all that matters.

Also, I don’t know if any of you know, but this last spring Solon left the band and was replaced by Tomo – who, might I add, was a FAN and Echelon member before he ended up joining them. So if you do buy the CD and see the special footage on the end (which is hilarious), that’s not Tomo. It’s Solon. Tomo is pretty darn humorous in his own rite too, as I finally got the chance to appreciate. Hopefully on this next album, they’ll have some footage of him too in there. J-man takes his video camera EVERYWHERE – LOL! You’d be amazed…He’s quite amusing to watch.

I saw them at Lollapalooza in Seattle back in August. The concert was simply orgasmic. They’ve grown so much just in this past year. It’s amazing. After much conversation with Matt and Tomo later that night after they were done playing, they persuaded me and a few other Echelon members to also go to the Oregon show the very next day. I have this HUMONGOUS six-page or so review in their Pantheon forum if anyone is interested. I have the same screen-name there, so it should be easy to spot in the archives. Just saves time for those of you that actually care. I tend to be pretty long-winded at times, but everyone who read the reviews found them entertaining. Anyhow, they do kick some serious ass. They already have a number of songs they’re working on for the next album, and I’m sure more inspiration will pile during this brief hiatus overseas. The one they played at the concert was SOOOO beautiful – much like the experience when I heard the newer version of “My Immortal” at the Mary-Moore. I cried. What a wuss, eh? What can I say, I was moved.

If you haven’t checked ‘em out yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! Go buy their CD! They’re fantastic! I wouldn’t promote them otherwise!

Oh Brandon, you poor thing! I'm sorry we scare you - lol! I'm Washington's Division leader for all the echelon over here, and we have our own website (that I built from scratch: http://30secondstomars-wd.tripod.com if anyone wants to see) so yeah I'd say I'm a pretty hard-core fan. But I promote just as hard for Evanescence too - even if I don't have a site for them too (I have a hard enough time just managing ONE), which is why I only e-team for them and no others. It would totally drain me otherwise.

LOL - I guess we can be a pretty scary bunch if you don't know us very well :D You're right; just about every piece of my street-clothing either has homemade Evanescence stuff on it or homemade 30STM symbols/glyphs/logos. Pretty crazy. At lolla, I made a homemade Echelon shirt - the one with the big "X" on the front (they wanted us to wear them at the show so they could easily spot us, so we're told), and I put glitter and stuff on it. After they were done playing at the Oregon show, we were all standing under the merchandice booth for some much-needed shade, when I suddenly realize Jared's video camera is about three inches from my boob, and I'm like, "Wha...?" He goes, "Shhh! Don't move!"...so I stand there like an idiot for what seems like forever while he does whatever it is he was trying to do. Fun times, I tell ya. Those guys are so freakin' funny.

Members of the Echelon are definitely hardcore fans. 30 seconds are lucky to have them. But they deserve it to. Great band, and really good live, can't wait for the next album.

Hey...pst...about that new album... yeah...sometime around March. They don't have an exact day yet, but will let us know as the release approaches.

One of those crazy Leto brothers finally posted on their boards the other day. They're are hoping to develop an active journal thingy (in addition to their forums) working soon after they get back from overseas. And they HAVE been working on/recording songs even while they've been miles apart - thanks to modern technology. So my thinking is...my prediction was correct in regards to ALL the members being involved this time instead of just the two tweeks. Which is awsome news considering all the different influences they all have. I can't wait to hear the new album!

I actually bought the cd because it was cheap(like 10$) and because I loved Capricorn. I almost never do impulse buys on cds, but for once I don't regret it! I LOVE that cd!! Best cd I heard in a long time. It was on infinite loop for a while at home! Hopefully someday I'll get to see them live!!

I love their album...and love the songs Buddha For Marry, and Edge of The Earth. Sadly enough I didn't get a chance to see them live.

Well, hopefully you'll get to this time around. They're sure to announce some new dates after the Roxy. They're DEF worth seeing!

30 Seconds To Mars album "A Beautiful Lie" is in stores August 16, From what I have heard so far from it it is another kick ass album! Go get it when it comes out guys!

I am liking this album. I got it this past weekend. I love the lead single, The Kill, the title track, The Battle of One and their cover of Bjork's Hunter.

yeah, i've seen them five times before the album dropped, and man. they're kicking a lot of ass around the states. try to see them when you can.

i love the album. i think they did a spectacular job on it, and ''battle of one'' is easily one of my favorites. others are 'attack,' 'the kill' and 'fantasy.'

In a cruel twist of fate, both shows that they had up in this area with Chevelle and Taproot took place while we were in LR.

I wasn't able to go to the Used show either.

I like the new cd, a little different from the first one but nothing wrong with that. I can't really say which song I like the most since I don't remember the titles of the song yet and it's on random most of the time. I'll still hope they drop by Montreal some day.

The band has easily snuck up to being one of my favorite bands. It sucks that I only got my license today. They were pretty close to me the other night. I can't wait to see them live.

I got to see them twice...the first time, they were opening for Incubus and they played at my college. I had never heard of them at that point, I only knew - from my boyfriend's teasing - that Jared Leto was the singer. I thought they were pretty cool then, and I got to be their photographer for the night since I was the entertainment photographer for the college newspaper...

The second time, I saw them open for Chevelle...and I got Jared Leto to sign my ticket, which was nice :)

I like their first album better than the new one though. When I first heard A Beautiful Lie, I didn't really like it at all...it's growing on me I think. The whole iTunes thing is kind of a pain, since I normally listen to music on that and my iPod.

I love them to death, ever since my friend sent me "Fallen" at 2:30 in the morning on March 26 [I went out later that day and bought their album]. I was completely blown away by how different and amazing they sounded and was surprised to learn that Jared Leto [whom I wasn't necessarily a fan of at the time, I just knew who he was] was the lead singer. Since then, my love for them has grown immensely, leading me to have a collection of over 50 songs and to have joined the Echelon and MARSarmy.

I got the chance to meet Matt, Tomo, Jared, and Shannon when I was on vacation in New York because they played Irving Plaza with Chevelle. My dad and uncle stood outside with me for 3 hours and I met everyone. I'm not sure how many of you are Echelon members, but if you remember the tile contest they had . . . well, I was the winner of it, and Matt and Tomo were excited to have met me [ahahah o__o;]. They were also soveryveryveryveryvery nice.

In terms of their albums, I'm a muchmuchmuch bigger fan of their first than their second. It took me over 30 listens of their second one to finally start liking it somewhat. :x It just wasn't my style. By now, I like it very much, but it still has nothing on the first album. :]

And if anyone's seen the video for Attack . . . did anything in it look familiar to you? As I was watching it the first time, I noticed that the wallpaper in the background of the room the girls were in was one I had seen before. Then I saw the headboard to the bed and was like, "Noooo waaay.":

okay, that's. ... wow. what can i say about that!? when i did promo for the guys in arizona when they were on tour with the used, tomo was telling me about the video [ obviously prior to it's release ] and said it was filmed at this hotel in los angeles called the 'alexandria.' supposedly, it's haunted, so all the more reason to film there. and then the ev photo? that ... WOW. LOL. that is AWESOME.

i just came to the realization that i've gone to 5 30 shows in the last three months. i've never done that with any band, and it blows me away to think about it. they're such nice people, though. and i love their music. adore it, really. when i first heard attack, i was like 'wow, jared's certainly got his range up.' [ i've been a fan since last sept. still kinda new. ] it grew on me, though, and when i heard the leaked album, i adored it from the get-go. there's a couple of songs that still take some adjusting to, [ like 'from yesterday' ] but i love 'em too.

What is everyones names on the official 30stm boards ? Mine is Xris.

I borrowed their debut album from the radio station I work in (I love college) and it's a pretty good album. For those who don't know about 30 Seconds to Mars, the band has Jared Leto, actor of really good movies such as Requiem for a Dream and Prefontaine. The AMG rating on this album is 4.5 stars out of 5! I like Capricorn, Edge of the Earth, Fallen, Oblivion, and Buddha for Mary (even though Buddha for Mary is probably the strangest song I have ever heard).

I saw 30STM the past 2 nights, great performance both nights. These guys just love doing show. On Friday I got the cd signed from the guys. I didn't go to the table last night because the pit was pretty crowded and didn't want to loose my spot for Seether.

I talked with Tomo after the show on Friday and I asked him if they were planing a headlining tour. He said they are planning on taking December and January off, and then start a headlining tour in February :D I can't wait to see them again.

YES! I certainly hope they start showing South Florida some more lovin' on their headlining tour - considering the only shows they're doing [and have done] within somewhat of a reasonable distance of any fans that live in Ft. Lauderdale or so is the Miami show in Coral Gables next Tuesday and the Buzz Bake Sale in West Palm Beach in December [which I totally spazzed over yesterday].

And yes, I am completely bitter about them not coming here more often. Especially when some people have seen like 27562 times because they happen to always come through their city on a tour. :[

I don't know, I saw them live last night and they were alright, I just couldn't understand anything Jared was singing. While on the subject: Jared is a dick. It looked like he treated us as people who were below him. Stage-wise we were but we're people just like he is so he could have a little more respect and be more human. He jumped out in the crowd and starting running, he punched me in the face and my friend in the breast area and kept running (wasn't really a punch, he just had his hand next to his mouth and moved towards my face). Anyhow, I don't like how he's acting. Whatever.

I'm sure he didn't "punch" you guys and act that way on purpose. when there's a lot of people at a concert then stuff like that can happen because it's so crowded. and i'm sure he didn't mean to come across as conceited or whatever it may have seemed like. i'm sorry you didn't have such a great experinece at that concert Hroth.

I've heard alot of people say that Jared is a bit rude. Who knows why though. Maybe some people pay him more attention then the other members and it pisses him off ? I also heard that Tomo and Matt are alot nicer then Jared. I guess I will have to see at my first show.

A lot of people just want to see Jared. When they were signing stuff after the set some people just wanted him to sign and moved out of the line afterwards. Kind of sucks for the others :( I didn't get the chance to chat with Matt, but Tomo is really nice and just loves to talk with people too. You don't see a lot of band members giving out stickers after the shows themselves. They love seeing and talking with fans.

Well, it blowed me away. I loved it and I haven't even listened to their self titled album so I would surely recommend this CD it to anyone that likes Evanescence and Chevelle.

i think that one has to grow with the artist autumnlullaby. Jared said that he didn't want to make the same album twice and he has my outmost respect for that.

their self titled cd has a theme running through it, it was very spacey and cool. so i think you would love it Kaprikorn, I definitely recommend you check it out.

i guess it's also all about relating to the music, both lyrically and melodically. i've heard ( rare, but have indeed heard ) hardcore fans really dig this newer album. and from the looks of it, they will probably have a different sound every album, but with the same overall ''30 vibe'' that can't be ignored, you know?

i just saw the guys four days in a row; thurs on the last call with carson daly [ which airs THIS friday, at 12.30! watch it! ], friday in long beach, saturday in vegas and sunday in hollywood at the virgin megastore. they rocked, and it was great to see them again.

[By the way: at the WPB show on 12/03, the DJ of our radio station was like, "So, do you ladies find Jared Leto attractive?" because the only Echelon there at the moment was all girls and we were all right up front, getting ready to watch the interview with the boys. We all looked at him and screamed, "WHO THE FUCK IS JARED LETO?!"

. . . Man, that DJ was shocked. It was amusing. SORRY ABOUT THAT, YOUR AVATAR MADE ME THINK OF IT.

So. Yes. I saw the boys last Saturday at the Buzz Bake Sale and basically had the best day of my life. ESPECIALLY [forgive my fangirling for a moment] when Shannon held up the entire like of 150+ people waiting to get their CD signed because he was staring at my shirt [It said "30 Seconds to Mars is GANGSTER." and featured a pic of all of them holding up gang signs.]. And then he saw that I had had something written on my arm, grabbed it, read the "WE <3 MATT" on it, said AWWWW, and then wrote "so does SHANNON" underneath it. That amused me for the rest of the day.

There was tons more, and I'll probably post it all later, but there was so much that went on that I can't even begin to go into it all. Such an amazing day. The Echelon are such amazing people ajkfhafjadg. AND THE BOYS. Oh god. It was my second time meeting them and it was much better this time around and just. Gah. They're so amazing and nice and Tomo gives the best hugs EVER. I had a squeezeoff with him . . . twice.

Alright here it goes . . .

Last night we left Groton at about 2PM. We ended up getting to Lupos at about 4:30 because we got lost in Providence. We finally got there and parked. We walked around and finally got in line and froze our asses off while waiting. Finally we got in and rushed to the front. We were really close, also next to other Echelon. (Jackey, BlackBird, Princess & Orgy) We sat through the first band which sucked so much. They had to have these stripper type girls come up and act like whores. After them was a band called Morningwood. The lead was right in front of us above the barricade. She started just shaking like anything and jumped on stage. I don't want to take up time talking about them because they weren't that good. But I know she went over to someone and said "We're not going to start this song until you clap. . . Oh your ass must be here to see Jared Leto . . . " Then she ended up getting going over to Princess (I think) and said, are those 30STM Gloves ? Did you hand make those like in your house. . . How PATHETIC!" IDK if she was messing around at all but for a new band acting like that she turned me off.

After Morning wood came 30. It was already getting so crazy that we were getting pushed away from each other and ended up standing alone. More like getting pushed. So they made their way to the stage after a while and everyone was going crazy. I'm not sure who came out when but they finally did. To tell you the truth I was so into it I didn't even remember the set list order but I know they played Beautiful Lie, Buddha For Mary, Battle Of One, Capricorn, Attack I think that is it. But it was AMAZING and painful.

After their set I made my way through the merch booth and bought the Mars Army Tshirt and the Mars Army Hoodie as well as the button pack. I also ripped a poster off of the wall. Then we went out to the buses. We followed all the other Echelon, There weren't too many of us. We got to their bus and saw Tomo. She started talking to everyone and we took a picture. He had told us that the guys were not going to be coming out because they were sick. One of the band members were looking out at as from the bus. Then Shannon, Matt and Jared came out of the bus. They started talking to everyone and taking pictures and signing autographs. It was really great. I was the only guy there I think. Actually I'm pretty sure I was. I got to take a picture with everyone but Shannon because he needed to get inside to do something with the rest of the guys. I got Tomo and Shannon to sign my Beautiful Lie album though.

After that they all went inside and we said goodbye and everyone walked out to the cars. Blackbird gave us the Capricorn Single and the old stickers.

Me, Robinane, and Megan walked with Princess to her car because she parked in the garage as well. I talked to her about various things that happen on the board. She is a really nice person. Thanks for the chat.

Anyway, I got my pictures back today and I actually got some really good ones. I'll post them after I scan. Man this band is AMAZING. I cannot wait for the headlining tour. I'm going to a few shows!

for those of you who didn't hear, jared hurt himself a bit last saturday at a show, and 30 cancelled their show in colorado today. i hope he feels better, especially if they all plan to do friday. i understand they're all under the weather. :[ poor guys.

i just realized i didn't come back after the show last friday. oops!

anyway, it was FANTASTIC. the guys did very well, the show was taped and i'm almost positive it will be featured on a dvd that jared promised to release.

shannon seemed well when i spoke to him; he was having some neck problems before, apparently, but i think he's okay now. tomo and matt were well over their colds and hilarious as usual. jared, however, wasn't doing so well. i was amazed he performed as well as he did considering. he really is a musician / performer at heart, being able to function with a bad back and a cold.

when i spoke to him, he said he wasn't feeling much better, but he was receiving treatment to help him speed up the 'get-well' process. shots, some sort of therapy and whatnot to ease the stress. he's also gaining weight for a role he starts filming for next month [ the john lennon assasination film ] and he laughed a lot, talking about how he's `gonna get SO fat.` it'll be interesting to see.

either way, the guys come back on tour february, i believe. so watch out for dates. ;] not to mention a [ HOPEFULLY ] new single.

You know, I originally didn't care too much for the new disc either. I decided to buy it though since I LOVE the first disc. I found the new one a bit boring at first, but I have actually grown to love it. I still like the first one better, but the new one is good too.

as for the single, it looked like the label was trying to set up 'from yesterday' or 'a beautiful lie.' jared asked us which one we liked better at the acoustic at virgin records in hollywood back in nov, and a number chose ABL over FY.

however, he then asked us which one we liked more .. ABL or the kill. and ... do i even need to say which one won? rofl. they DID perform the kill on carson daly, too, so ....who knows at this point. i love the kill, but i wouldn't mind ABL either.

i went to that taping. you can see me when they pan the crowd because i was positioned right in front of tomo's stand. they did `attack` and `the kill` that night.

yeah, virgin kind of sucks for pulling that, so it's not really the bands fault. besides, the album leaking three months prior to release only made the protection thing even more ... necessary, i guess. it's easy to pull them after you burn the cd once and then import from the burned version, though.

and, i don't believe itunes offers the extra two tracks, not to mention the secret song at the end of `modern myth` like the album does. so, all is not lost. ;]

Jared Leto's gained weight for the role of John Lennon's killer in Chapter XXVII.

There was something on the news about Lennon/Beatles fans causing a flap over the filming of the movie at the Dakota, where Lennon was shot.

I may or may not be attending this tour. As far as my knowledge extends, there are three Ohio dates thus far. I know for a fact that only one out of the three dates is during the weekend. I wanted to attend all three shows, but alas, I cannot simply because I am not 16 and I do not have my license to drive myself. I would ask my parents, but they have to work during the week. School is also another factor. =/.

Soo... I guess I am making my way to NYC for the show at the Avalon. Wish me luck because I am going to need it to get there.

I can't wait to see these guys when they come through Minneapolis. I got a couple of my friends into them when ABL came out (I was fortunate enough to know a guy at the local record store when their debut hit, but after awhile they became something I listened too infrequently after a lot of raving about them during sophmore year) and now everyone I hang out with listens to them and is attending the show! They're an amazing band, that's for sure.

Alright. I think that's everything. Was an awesome show. Jared took audience requests on what to play when he was solo. He said From Yesterday, but ended up not playing it. I was really hoping to hear that song, and possibly The Hunter (Although I knew there was less chance of hearing The Hunter). I took some pics and am getting them developed today. So I should hopefully have them on here soon, if they turned out halfway decent.

Does anyone know what bands are opening for them for the tour this summer? I got a ticket to see them June 3rd. I hope one of those bands is not Morningwood.
