its been a crazy couple of weeks, but everything is going SO GREAT in the studio. I can hardly contain my excitement for this record, and I'm happier than I've been in so long I can't remember. :) I haven't had a chance to look through all of the drawing ideas for the epilepsy logo yet, but there's some really amazing stuff in there. Thank you so much, guys. I wanted to make sure everyone knows that I DO NOT have any music in the chronicles of narnia :( I did write music for it, that I love very much, but it was rejected for the movie because it was "too dark" and "too epic." My darlings, if I can't write dark, epic music, I can't live. I thought about it for awhile, and then finally decided that I simply will not compromise my art for anything. It is very sad, though, because I think the movie is going to be amazing. Its really good- I just don't want you guys to go and see it and be let down because you thought our music was in there. Thats so awesome Amy!! Except bout Narnia. I was jsut talking to my friend about it today, practically jumping up and down. But naturally I'm still going to see it. I've been waiting for this flick before i even existed!!

However, I am thankful that you and the guys are willing to take an extensive amount of time off working to make sure that we have an incredible album. Art takes time. Yeah, we heard about Narnia :( It sucks. They're using Alanis Morrisette now, I think. And someone else. I'm still excited for it, though...I looove those books :D

See, Amy, they saw you with pink hair and realized that your true nature was not all dark and gawth and stuff. So they didn't think you still wrote dark epic gawth stuff. Such is the attitude of the uneducated ;)

I'm really looking forward to hearing the new record, and the anticipation is killing all of us lol. I'll probably like it just as much as I like Fallen, even if it is different. Change is good, especially when it comes to music.

It's too bad that your music got rejected for the Narnia movie. I was really hoping that I'd hear some Evanescence stuff in the theatre. But changing the way you write music to be in a movie just isn't worth it. Write the way you want, and if people don't like it, then that's their loss.

As a matter of fact, seeing as how I do work in an electronics department, when we get the new cd I'm putting it in one of our listening stations right away. At least, that's what I relate to what you would probably have to do in order to get a song on the Narnia soundtrack - compromise your talents as a songwriter (which may tend to be too 'epic' or 'dark' in the eyes of the people who matter in this case). In the end I think that compromising your work in this way would just end up dissapointing everyone involved - because it wouldn't be 'you' as much (it would be 'you' minus some epic darkness, or something)...

And I applaud you for 'taking a stand' if you would - not that there's anything to take a stand against, but just to say 'this is my music, if it's not right for what you want then that's too bad...' because it would be far too easy to simply write something that they would be happy with but you wouldn't be happy with as much - and from my perspective at least, I would be unhappy with it because I would be expecting your music and would get something that wasn't quite. Not to mention many artists would probably do whatever it took to get their 'work' attached to such a major production, it's refreshing to know that you wouldn't.

I dunno - to me (I write a bit, not very well nor not much anymore) - it's hard enough to take the 'part of me' which is my song and put it into some form that I can share with everyone else. To then conform it to something that it wasn't would just be... unfair. Unfair to the song it could've been, unfair to the people that listen to it and don't get to hear it like it should be and unfair to me for not being able to display the song I really wanted to.

Hope that makes sense.... can't wait for the new stuff.

Well, Amy, congratulations on once again proving what is arguably your greatest quality - you don't conform to what others want, you stand on your own rock and be your own unique self. Hopefully you will get a chance to record and release that music some other time, I'd love to hear it. If not the new album, then we can wait. Good luck, with that, although I'm trying not to think about it, lest I start running aroung with excitement, banging my head against walls.

Seriously Amy, who cares? If they won't bet for your dark-epic songs, they lose. They did fawn over most commercial stuff. Instead you reach beyond the establishment to the music, to the new rising fans.

Anyway Amy, there will be many opportunities for musical scores in the future,
maybe you can get a track in on "Underworld: Evolution" or "Pirates of the Carribean II" which is coming out in July 2006!

Which brings me to this: I was at the theater last night to watch the opening day release of "Aeon Flux"
and I was sitting through all the damn previews stuffing my face with
popcorn when I heard "Going Under" coming from the screen!

I said, "HEY! That's Evanescence!" Needless to say, a bunch of people turned around and looked at me like I was retarded or something.
Apparently they are not familiar with EV.

But now, for the life of me, I can't remember the movie for which your sound track came from.
Can anyone help me out with this? It's driving me CRAZY!
All I remember was saying, "I'm going to see THAT movie for sure!"

I wanted to make sure everyone knows that I DO NOT have any music in the chronicles of narnia :( I did write music for it, that I love very much, but it was rejected for the movie because it was "too dark" and "too epic." My darlings, if I can't write dark, epic music, I can't live. I thought about it for awhile, and then finally decided that I simply will not compromise my art for anything. It's so great to see a message from you!! I'm so glad that you love the new music so much because then that clearly means that it rocks. About Narnia, it really looks like an amazing movie, I don't really get why they would tell you that what you made was "too epic" because the movie seems to be an epic itself, crazy stuff. I'm glad though that you are not willing to compromise your style for them, mad props! I wish you guys the best of luck with finishing off the record!! I'm pretty new here so I have no idea what's the thing with Narnia, but if they didn't want your "dark music", then it is their big problem :p Your writing is amazingly awesome as it is, and of course you shouldn't compromise it.

Just a correction to that, they have two seperate soundtracks. The one that Amy didn't get on, she was replaced by Alanis Morrissette. It's in Ev Chat.

I think my art teacher think I'm a little kind of werd.. I had a portable cd and sat on a lesson and listend.. Whit high volym.. So Everyone who was in beside the same table heard song and everything.. And sometime I sad

I've heard that Alanis Morrisette is doing the theme. I mean, Amy is a great songwriter no doubt, but that is some tough competition (at least in my opinion); although, that's not exactly the kind of movie I would envision Alanis doing. Some other people might, but not I.

Epic and Dark, Amy I'm so happy for this. It's not important if you don't make a soundtrack for the film, it's important if you MAKE MUSIC THAT YOU LOVE.

Can't wait for the new music, and to see Narnia. I remember it from when I was a kid. I bought the book the other day (the Chronicals, not just The Lion, The Witch..) just so I could read it before I went to see the movie, but now I'm contemplating reading The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrode incase I judge the movie off the book, which is what I always do.

Anyways, can not wait for the new stuff! I'm hanging out for it! Hehe

Wow, thank you for the update Amy! In your message we can see the excitement. And to here you update, it definately makes us excited too! Sorry about the Chronicles of Narnia music thing.... But it is completely understandable about why they rejected it. I'm the same way with my work-- If I can't write the way I do, thre is no way I would be able to live. My music and art keeps me breathing. It keeps me sane. But hopefully we get to here your song anyway.
Is there anyway that the song you wrote will be featured on the new album?
