(Sorry if this isn't the right place for this but i searched!)

Has anyone read this book? (by Linda Bray) I read it a few months ago, it was really good. Victorian Era, whole girls-not-wanting-to-follow-the-crowd thing. With a magical twist.

Actually, the main reason i'm asking is i have a book report on it due monday and i can't think of what i want to do for it... I'm supposed to pick some climactic scene and act it out. I don't know what scene to do. :/ Anyone who's read the book have any ideas?

Read it. It's good.

You all probably hate me for reviving such an old thread, but I love this book (and Rebel Angels as well), and can't wait for the third in the trilogy to come out (I've heard sometime in 2007).

For more information on the books you can go to:

Aaand, I just found out today that they are making the books into a movie. :D

Of course, it won't be out anytime in the near future, but I just thought I'd share.

No no no no no. I absolutely love you for reviving this thread. I love this book. I realy want to read Rebel angels! My library only had the first and I don't live near any book stores so I have to wait until my sister gets her car fixed so she can bring me to one. I had no idea there was a third comming out.I may have never known if you hadn't told me so I think that gives you good cause for bringing back the thread. Thank you Crystal Tears!:D

It's Libba Bray, by the way.

Rebel Angels is AMAZING. We find out a lot about Felicity, and the Realms. Also, we find out who Circe is. BIG INTRIGUE. You must read it. LoL. Can't wait for the third book to come out. Libba has a LiveJournal, FYI. There's a link on her website.

I LOVE these books! I found the first in a random book store last year on holiday and by the end of the holiday I forced my parents to buy me the second one for the airplane home :p
Does anyone know when the third one is out?

Hey I read the first book with my friend... can anyone tell me if the next one is enjoyable? *i really don't want to be disappointed like i was with the Pretties (i know its a different series, but to me the second book can never be compared to the first)* So if anyone can help me out... it would be greatly appreciated!!

I read this book because the corset on the front was lovely. I hated it about halfway through because they suddenly started introducing magic and I personally thought it was like utterly ridiculous. I don't know. Maybe I'll go back and read it again, because it's been a while.

There's a third one? *sighs in relief*
These books are great; my two favorite genres are historical fiction and fantasy and these books have both.

I have the book, but haven't read it. I should read it some time.

I think I saw this title on a really random bulletin on myspace under a category like "top books for the cliche 'misunderstood non-conformist high school (possibly pagan or wiccan) girl'", on some list of titles of high school stereotypes. Go fig.

Is it anything like that?

THe title makes me think of Wicked, the musical, btw.

That book sounds really interesting! I think I will have to look at getting a copy when I finish the book I'm currently reading.

I've read the whole series. It's one of my favourite book series aside from, like, Harry Potter. x]

My friend is Pagan, and she lent me this book. It's very well written, though i was hesitant on reading it at first.

Most of her books that she has deal with fantasy and magic. :p Which is pretty kick ass. :D

I love this book! Not as big a fan of the sequel though.

Would you still recommend reading the sequels of it though?

Yeah, it's still a good book, just not as well written as the first. It's called Rebel Angels I think.

Yeah, and then the newest is called The Sweet, Far Thing.

You should read them. I loved them all. ^_^

oh wow. I totally loved these books... i still havent read the third one though.. must get around to that sometime.
Haha... while everyone I knew was obsessing about Twilight, which I had already finished MONTHS before anyone else even started, I was lost in A Great And Terrible Beauty~
I love how:
1) its in the Victorian Era(loves!! frilly dresses and castles!)
2) its so well written and detailed
3) the characters are intriguing and beleivable(Twilights "perfect" characters got pretty boring after a while-_-)
4) you come to actually care about the characters
5) it has KARTIK!!! (im totally head-over-heels fangirl in love with him)
And the twist about Circe was really cool, I was both surprised and sad at the same time... they were one of my favourite characters but you know, i kinda guessed...

also, if anyone is interested, there is a movie of it that will be coming out sometime this year!
