Umm..hi. ^_^;;; I see that you've mentioned you draw...and being an artist myself (ok, I wish), I'd like to know what you like to draw, where you get inspiration, and have you always been into drawing? Or is it painting? Eek..that's more than one question, but I'd like to know, since I love you, and I love art. I think it's great that you're into it. ^_^

I'm pretty sure if amy reads this and reply's she can give you more of an answer but heres something she's quoted as saying during an interview around May '04. :)
I love to paint and I love to sculpt. My favorite thing to draw and paint, for the center of a lot of my art is the human body.
I think it would be *really* cool to maybe one day see some of amy's artwork since we hear alot about it in interviews and stuff, that would be awesome :)

careful now, curiosity is one thing, but dont go mimicking what she does and still call yourself a true artist. i can sculpt anything imaginable out of polymer clay, and have been doing so for about 10 years. im even waiting for the band to respond to "Is This Too Obsessive" so i can make depictions of them how they want to be seen. but thats the point. im an artist without vision, and tend to emulate ideas and suggestions from outside sources, with the exception of one major upcomming project.. whenever this mental image finishes forming. until then, i tend to look up to those that can make real art.
so if you consider yourself an artist now, and you can pull inspiration from your own thoughts and feelings, dont turn your back on that gift away just because Amy happens to prefer something different.
unless if course i misunderstood (which i tend ot do when im tired) and it is purely curiosity. on that point, id be interested to know myself. Amy, if your work isnt too personal, think you could scan in some images for us?

that was my first thought honestly, though i don't meant to discourage whoever posted the original message. People get inspiration from different things in life, and what may inspire you may be completely different to the next person. Though it is nice to see some more people interested in art.
oh well, hope you find you're answer - goodluck.

was that directed toward me or BacardiBreezer?
at any rate, you got me thining and i think i should rephrase:
dont go mimicking Amy's style of paintings just because she's the one who made them. however true artists can certianly draw inspiration from other artists, it happens all the time. i think my previous statement may have sounded like i was discouraging that as well. so if youre intent is to draw some inspiration from her, do it because you like the style, not because your favorite singer happens to be the artist.
keld88
09-08-2004, 04:54 AM
it was directed at BacardiBreezer - all i meant was that though im sure it would be interesting to hear about Miss Lee's work, people are inspired in different ways so if the intension was to find a way to be inspired into creating great artworks, its something most people do on their own.
of course, please excuse my comments if i misunderstood BacardiBreezer's initial post.
though i do agree with what you said (The_Muenks), many are inspired by other artists.
sorry for the misunderstanding - kelly

o.O actually, guys, I've been drawing all my life, and painting some. I don't sculpt at all, to be honest, except maybe a few times in high school. I've painted a few good things, but my focus is pencil drawing, and haha, now that I think about it, I haven't even drawn anything since I really got into Evanescence and Amy...so...really there's no reason to think I'm trying to mimic her *shrug* but I understand where you guys get that from. I've always been into drawing and coloring, and it runs in the family, so I figure I want to do that. It's one of those soul-satisfying activities that nothing else seems to accomplish.......sometime, I'll post some of my drawings, which are mostly cars, but some "abstract" objects...and if you saw them, you'd see no Amy Lee inspiration at all in there. This was just a question I wondered, having a love for art myself.
I hope I cleared everything up ^_^

I recently heard from a friend that amy's fave artist is Dali (dunno for sure if it's true though) and apperentley she says she likes his work because you can look at it once, come up with one meaning, then look at it again and see a totally different meaning. Anyways if it is true then I've seen some of his work and its very cool. I've never seen anything like it before, it's all like a big dreamworld. :)

I've got a feeling Amy's style is completely different than mine, if you guys think she does goth stuff. But that's cool - and diversity is always a good thing. Wouldn't be interesting if we all did the same thing...and I'd wonder about people >.>

i have trouble understanding paintings, just as i do poetery. but his work is among the few paintings i can actualy get something out of, expicialy the most famous one with the mealting clocks. i have an affinity toward understanding timed and reams that plays into an interest there.
FallenAngel_AL quoted her as saying she loves to sculpt? oh crap, this means my offer to make a figure for her might be moot if she knows how to make it herself.
come on, it takes me months to find inspiration for a new project.

Haha, thank you! ^_^ This is going to sound really lame to some of you, but it's actually from a video game called Chrono Cross. It's called the Dragon Tear, and it lets the owner trade bodies with someone else. I thought it looked really cool so I drew it. this post explains it well
http://evboard.com/showpost.php?p=406813&postcount=28
nope it didnt work ok heres what to do (im not used to giving instructions so bare with me!)
1) click post reply to start a new post with the attachments or just click edit on one of your previous posts.
2) it will bring you to the page where you type your message. if you scroll down the page a little, you will see a button saying "manage attachments". click that button
3) a little box should pop up with 3 options. "browse", "upload" and "close this window". if you click the browse button, browse to where you saved your pictures that you want to post, and open it (double click it) the little box by the side of the browse button should now have some writing in.
4) click upload and wait. something should show up underneath saying "current attachments" along with the name of the picture you have attached (written in white font).
your picture should now be attached! if you want to put more then one picture repeat 4). tell me if it works and btw your attachment can only be a certain size so if the pictures are too big to be attached (it will tell you if something you have tried to attach is too big) let me know, and ill see what i can do
am i too late?
Snow White

Amy, if you have the pictures uploaded somewhere, you can just post them regularly without having to attach them. Open up the pictures and get their URL addresses. Copy the URL addresses into the reply box and highlight each one separately. Then click on the mountain graphic that is underneath the size and color drop down menus in the reply for each URL addresss. That should allow you to post the images. Hope that helped. :)

Ay...
I usually draw (well, not usually, but when I need that escape that the concentrating in drawing provides I just sink into it and I don't stop until it's done...) but I couldn't paint anything abstract if my life depended on it! I just don't know how to portrait feelings thru colour and shape. So, I'm no speciallist, but Amy's or not, that painting is really beautiful!
I'm with Katya on this: she should have her own art thread on the board! Heck... in the way things are going, I think it would be cool to have an art-section (like a gallery, or a "book" of poems) within the board instead of scattered threads in the your stuff area, etc. A gathering of the Evboard artists... :)

Heh. I, for one, am asleep at 1 AM. 10 PM Amy's time. Because I have to get up for school in four and a half hours. And I'm DEFINITELY not on 3 hours later. lol.
So I ALWAYS miss the Amy-is-online times. Because Amy doesn't need a lot of sleep and I do ;) (j/k lol)

I was up chatting w/ people until like 4...*had to be up at 6* and then i thought "sleep is overrated"--I ran on empty in class today..haha it was "great"--so yeah she comes online "late"--but I don't sleep so I am always like "oh ok"

i completely forgot about the whole timezone thing. because when she posted i was like "no way i was on at that time". but really, i was at school. silly me. stupid time zones....!!!
Amy would you ever be interested in selling your artwork? you are truly gifted. wow. i love the colours. ack. so beautiful!!!!! you are talented in many ways. you are so lucky!!!
(it's easier if you make a www.photobucket.com account *it's free!* then just put your paintin there and copy/paste the [img] link. that's the only way i know how to do it. lol)

LOL yeah the timezone thing can suck.
That'd be really awesome, but I think you'd get some people who would buy it just because it's Amy and not because it's beautiful artwork. So they wouldn't appreciate the art for what it was.
Photobucket is mah best friend :D I put all my stuff on there. However, a word of caution to Amy: Images can only be 250 KB lol otherwise it'll make it really small and retarded. I imagine you have some kind of resizing program that you can shrink the images in, judging from your other one.
And another thing...save as a .jpg. It's a LOT smaller filesize than a .bmp. And .gifs suck when it comes to photos lol.

Wow, that's awesome, mkay.
P.S. Computers/technology isn't really a talent.
Not everyone can dismantle a computer and put it back together. Not everyone can create an entire website from Flash effortlessly. Not everyone can create works of art using Photoshop alone *cough*orgo*cough*. Not everyone can write a program for something that they want done.
I could go on, but I won't. I consider it a talent. There are several areas of talent. But to be successful in the computer industry takes brains and ability.
And, just for clarification, I was definitely being facetious in my above post.

according to an interview w/ amy and ben, the band originally planned to paint the Fallen artwork, but amy was too busy to come up with something perfect enough etc.
I think its also been mentioned as a possibility for the new album instead. :)

Wow, great to see you on the board amy.
I really like that painting, some how i'm not surprised that the artist responsible for it has also done some of my favorite music ;)
It cool how the branches have some life in them in the blue sky but look like blackened bone in the light. It's a great play of contrasts, and I love how the sunbeam bends almost into a blade as it crosses the branch. Definitely some powerful symbolism can be drawn from this. Very, very cool.

10-18-2004, 05:31 PM
Oh yeah, definitely we should have an art thread. I'd be all over that ^__^

Wow! Very cool - reminds me of Dali, with the sky that seems to go on forever... it has a real sense of depth! I especially like the orange/red drips, and the way the tree seems so alive.
It's awesome to be able to see some of Amy's art - you can really see a connection to her music.
I'd be interested to know what media she used. Personally, I love working with oil paints.

Can't believe no one has approached this yet...
For Amy
EvBoard Posting 101: Attaching a Message :D
1. Type out message in the 'reply' box.
2. Scroll down past the first "Submit Message" button.
3. Look for the button that says "Manage Attachments". Click it.
4. A small box will pop up. Hit the "Browse" button, find your file, and hit "Upload."
5. When it finishes uploading, hit "Close Window."
6. Repeat Step 4 if you have more than one picture to upload.
7. Click either "Submit Message" button.
Voila! You now have a message with an attached image! Give yourself a pat on the back! ;) :D
Troubleshooting
"When I try to upload the picture, it says that I've exceeded the 100 KB limit."
~You need to resize your picture. Open a photo editing program and shrink the image a bit. Also, saving as a .jpg, rather than a .bmp, will also cut the filesize considerably.

It's very pretty! Did it take many time? I have no time at all for my hobbies right now... They are asking for quite a lot of work at school these days... Anyway, we always get some weeks with lots of work sometimes... I have time to cook, though! I decided to learn to do so after I saw I couldn't live from spaguetti for the rest of my life... But there has been no guitar at all for this last weeks... mmm, too bad for me! Anyway it looks pretty good, I like it at least!

OK I know it's been said about a hundred times but that painting was amazing. If you ever decide to reply again after blessing us with one more peice of evidence of your tallent I have a few questions for you amy.
Dose writing lyrics make it easier or harder to express emotion in your artwork?
Has being in a band thats so sucessful taken all your free time and distracted you from your artwork?
Had you ever thought of becoming a profesional artist if you hadn't started the band?

Even though Amy, doesn't come on Evboard anymore......
I have always been a HUGE fan of her paintings, and drawings!!
she does incredable work, and it all comes from within, all what she is
feeling, and parts of her life.
She has amazing mechanisms to deal with what she is feeling, as well
when she is going through a tough time.
Amy sure does know alot when it comes to all of that, and sure has
grown so much inner strength!
