View Full Version : A request on colours.

Lirael

Yes. Colour is spelt with a u. ;)

I, among many others on the board, don't have 20/20 vision. With the normal grey on black, it is fairly easy to use. If you want to use colours for all of your posts, that's cool, but think about the people who want to read what you post.

Cause when people use colours like dark purple in their posts, people find difficulty reading it. Having to read posts by highlighting them so you can focus on the text gets really annoying. Really quickly.

Brighter colours are fantastic. Pale yellow etc are easier to read then the standard grey. But the darker colours, please please think of the kittens and make sure that before you start changing your posts to a set colour, that it is easy to read on a black background.

Or people like me will soon pretty much just ignore your posts :/.

\m/ Good point here.

Just say that some highlybrighter colours might be difficult to read, too. My eyes hurt with some of them. I don't know if it's just me and my weird vision. :\

But thanks for throwing it out.

Only if you are a freak who lives outside the US. We don't conform to your lame, oh lets add in a 'u' to color and favorite. :p

Dev is the exception though.

Dude.

The bastards that colonized my little barren rock of a country MADE the English language.

Cause they are English.

Check mate. Damn hick American. ;)

Psh, you know you want to conform to our stereotypical bling bling superpower culture filled with mindless idiots who want to get paid without doing any work.

And it all starts with Color.

It can be spelled either way and be right. :P

Hmm, I've never had a problem reading any of the colors, but I tend to ignore ones I can't read. I think I've only had problems if they're too bright and light-colored.. but it's rare. I think it probably depends on your monitor.

Hmm, I think it depends more on where you live. Try that in my school and you would get marked off by my professor for incorrect spelling.

Well let me put it this way...

If you don't live in the US you will probably spell it colour. We just like to go against the flow over here.

What I meant was that both spellings are correct as far as I know... it's not like the one with a 'u' is wrong. Sorry for not being clear :)

So how do you spell the word for the predominant color on this board? Is it "gray" or is it "grey?"

Whenever Lirael can't read the posts because the color is unreadable he has nothing better to do so he masturbates. And since he masturbates God kills a kitten. So indirectly, by posting in an unreadable color, the posters are killing kittens.

:cool:Though I'm American, I prefer "grey". "Gray" just looks so pedestrian to me. Grey is drab enough as it is; it doesn't need a crappy spelling as well.

Technically, however, I beleve the predominant color on this board goes by the name of "#666666". Curious.

Yeah, I spell it "grey" as well. I also spell "theatre" with the "re" instead of "er" ending. I had to add that one into my word processor so it wouldn't constantly tell me I was spelling it wrong.

But color... there's no U. Silly people :)

Cfw...

With Miles around, there'd be no Kittens left by now  ;)

Anyway, I live in Canada and I spell it Color

Good point. There are many dark colors I have a hard time trying to read, like a dark blue or purple.

Highlighting became a habbit for me. But the dark blue and purple makes me get up and get my glasses. . . [what a task!!]

You can spell it colour, you can spell it gray, you can spell it coloar, or gruy for all I care, just as long as I understand! What ever makes you happy.

the same point i gave to my teacher, it pissed her off because I spelled colour and favourite with a 'U" like I am now and In a ameria, but I told her how she couldn't mark it wrong because both ways wre right and part of the english language. 6th grae was a fun time to torture my teacher, may she rot in hell. Lol.

Well I'm sure she found plenty of other reasons to lower your grade due to spelling/grammatical errors. ;)

The only time I've got an issue with color is when people use that bright purple, and people quote it. That shit is impossible to read. >_< But that's about the only issue. If you have a flat screen, it's harder to read the dark purple against black I've noticed.

No actually when in school, I have rather nice grammar, as in check out this post, but when I have an idea I don't want to lose I type really fast and usually forget to spell check and end up making a fool of myself because of the grammar. So yah my being ironic sucks because a good idea or fast idea is always spelt horribly. And even more surprisingly, I made straight a's all year. Scary, isn't it?

Especailly when using an LCD screen, it kills meh. Usually I just highlight and it gets better, but not always. I hate it when someone uses yellow... *BLIND*

I wear glasses normally, but not when I read or when I'm at the computer because I don't want to screw up my vision further. I really appreciate this thread. People, lighter colours are fine... express your creativity in your sig or avatar. Please. Thank you.
