I love this movie...however, I can't watch it that much. I mean...I can watch it and then I'll have to wait a few months or something before I can do it again.
The directing and cinematography were amazing....the acting was great. It's hard seeing Ed Norton as this buff ass skin head, but he plays it well!
what do you guys think?

I felt it was fairly good: it showed the effects of bigotry on everyone else very well IMO. It also showed how people can get caught up with those sorts of beliefs, like Romper Stomper.
I winced at the "BITE THE CURB MOTHERFUCKER!" scene though.

I love that movie!!! I tear up whenever it shows the part where Ed Norton makes that guy "eat the curb".... plus I've always had a little thing for Edward Furlong... ever since Terminator 2...

Exremely powerful movie. But, like you, it's one of those movies that I can only watch once in a long while. It's so intense and sometimes I hate to be reminded of how horrible people can actually be. This film was the one that made me a fan of Norton.
Edward Furlong was great in it, too, as well as the supporting cast.

yes edward furlong deserves to be recognized for his work in this movie too..he was amazing...and yes, the eat the curb scene is so...powerful. me, mike (sheep), and peter (evboarder before my time) watched it last weekend because sheep bought it on dvd...anyways, mike said that the first time he saw it that scene made him throw up..but he also said he was already sick at the time..heh.

I can't watch the infamous curb scene.
It's a very good movie. Edward Norton is an amazing actor. That little kiddo from Terminator didn't do too poorly either.
It is a hard movie to watch though. I don't think I've watched it many times in comparison to most movies that I own. It's kind of emotionally draining to watch.

The curb is scene is why this movie became instantly famous IMO, but that's not all there is to the movie. The power and the realness that it represents is really "beautifull", if any of my friends go like "I HATE NIGGERS!"(no offense to people here, if you are offended I'll removie the world) I make them watch the movie just to know that you COULD become Edward.

I loved this movie... Except the end. I felt it just kinda - stopped. I don't really know what I was expecting, but it didn't happen.
The movie on the whole is a brilliantly presented essay on modern bigotry. I advise you watch it if you haven't.
Plus, it's got Edward Norton in it - and he's a genius.

Reminds me a little bit of Amistad(a great movie), except on a larger scope. Speaking of movies that are difficult to watch, if you want to see a movie that will make you want to never do drugs, watch "Requiem for a Dream."
"21 Grams" is also a deeply emotional movie thats difficult to watch, but well worth it.

I can't bare to watch it. I know the story, and I know what happens. Kind of like...Braveheart...my teacher loves Mel Gibson to death but she'll never watch Braveheart past a certain point because she knows the story and that he's gonna die soon. I know what happens in that movie and I wouldn't be able to hold together if I saw it.
on another note.. I totally agree with Noose about the super market scene...that made me so disgusted and ashamed for whatever reason. I actually know the area where the filmed all of this..the boardwalk especially.

Don't get me started on Braveheart, chum!!
William Wallace was not an enthusiastic Australian dwarf, he didn't paint himself like a Chelsea supporter and the Princess the film would have you believe he impregnated was only 7 at the time he died.

American History X is a great movie. We watched it at school recently. It's pretty disturbing and hard to watch but sometimes those are the best movies to watch, you know?
As for the curb scene, I actually didn't watch that because the person sitting next to me had heard about it and she turned away, so I turned away too.
I didn't expect Danny to die in the end either, but I suppose it was a pretty fitting ending, it shows that hate is like a disease that infects everyone.

The main character's girlfriend rocks.
Romper Stomer is also a great film that has some simularities.

The ending where he gets shot in the bathroom has to be one of the most shocking endings I have seen, took me a-back. I felt so sorry for the main character (I have forgotten the names, I have not seen it for two years.
