MTV’s VMA Talent List Keeps Growing

MTV: Music Television has expanded the talent list for its 2004 MTV Video Music Awards yet again.

The network said Wednesday that Shaquille O’Neal, Brandy, Nick Lachey, Shakira, Evanescence’s Amy Lee, Mase, Beastie Boys, John Mellencamp, Omarion and Queen Latifah will appear.

They join the previously announced list of Jennifer Lopez, Hilary Duff, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jimmy Fallon, Will Smith, Paris Hilton, Lenny Kravitz, Tony Hawk, Ludacris, Ashlee Simpson, LL Cool J, Jon Stewart and P. Diddy.

And OutKast and Polyphonic Spree have been added to the list of performers, which already included Nelly featuring Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Usher, Kanye West, Yellowcard, Lil’ Jon, Jet, Petey Pablo, Hoobastank, Ying Yang Twins, Terror Squad featuring Fat Joe and Jessica Simpson.

The 2004 VMAs will air live from AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami Sunday, Aug. 29 at 8 p.m. (EST), with West Coast viewers getting a tape-delayed feed, also at 8 p.m.

The Seether show in Orlando is the night before, and she'll be down there with them already, so it makes sense that she'll be at the VMA's while the guys are doing their own thing for a bit.

I actually used to really like hoobastank, then i saw them live(THEY ARE THE WORST BAND I HAVE EVER SEEEN LIVE)

I was a part of the 2004 MTV VMA Voting Academy. They called me several months ago and told me that I was chosen to be a voter (they'd sent out this thing through email and you had to respond to be in the running for it). I was part of the nominations, then I got to vote on the final ballot.

I'm looking for the file where I saved all of my votes...

But before, when people were saying they hoped the "My Immortal" video got votes, I know for a fact they got at least ONE vote. :)

I was a part of the 2004 MTV VMA Voting Academy. They called me several months ago and told me that I was chosen to be a voter (they'd sent out this thing through email and you had to respond to be in the running for it). I was part of the nominations, then I got to vote on the final ballot.

I'm looking for the file where I saved all of my votes...

But before, when people were saying they hoped the "My Immortal" video got votes, I know for a fact they got at least ONE vote. :)

Bruce Willis dancin to Lean Back with P Diddy, that shit was hilarious! (so was Chappelle) too bad it wasn't the crunk remix. And the actual Lean Back track don't got THAT much profanity except for the chorus where instead of 'people' he says 'niggaz'..like Syd said, they ain't takin no chances I guess.

^ they were pretty popular on MTV a few months ago. Every time I tuned to MTV I'd see one of their two videos half the time (Jet..since I was replyin to a post and then like 5 peoples posted right after)

Them and Hoobastank are the only artists that actually got higher on the Top 20/TRL/etc. lists, so it only makes sense.

I am never been more disappointed in MTV ever in my life. I HATE MTV!

Evanescence was at a severe disadvantage this year. When you voted, you did it online and there were links to the videos. Most had full videos. The Ev songs listed were 30 second clips.

And they had Evanescence spelled wrong on the videos for the first round of nominations.

Tell me how that's fair? If people weren't already familiar with the videos, the clips given showed nothing really interesting.

I think MTV SHOULD be an industrial suppies rep for the tri-state area. They'd probably do a better job of that than THIS award show.

Now, MTV is driven by big corporate dolts who couldn't care less about the music but rather the almighty $$$. You know why certain acts get the airplay? They presented the Breakthrough Video award during the preshow and they've already presented the Best Pop Video. It would've been awesome if she did win though. Heh.

I've realized for quite some time now that MTV is out to maximize their profits at the expense of, basically, stupid people. They are so influential that they can make hordes and hordes of idiots around the world believe that they are the defining factor in what is hot and what isn't, and that serves them right into their pocket. It's only going to get worse. Intelligence is a fading trend. (Was it ever a trend?)
