View Full Version : Amy-Lee and Make Up...

Heyy...

I searched the forums for a thread on this topic, but couldn't really find one... if there does happen to be one.. sorry... I haven't been that active on this site in the last 2 months for various reasons and I don't really expect to find negative rep. points.. all because I didn't read through every single page of this forum.... hmm anyways...

I was wondering whether anyone knew what brand of make-up Amy Lee uses... it's a bit of a weird question and I dont know if it's really answerable.. I mean Im sure there are make up artists who do her make up for videos and they probably use various brands or something... but maybe what she uses herself? Hmmm... I'd be interested to know... Seeing as I've always seen her in videos etc.. Im guessing the make-up Im really after is whats used by her make up artists and stuff... hmmm...

I dunno... like what foundation does she use, what mascara? Dunno if it's a silly question... but if there is an answer, Id really like to know :-)

Thanks,
Sarineh x

From the MTV Diary I think (if I remember correctly) they used MAC on her or at least for her eyes..

at least, somethin that is expensive and starts with an N

I would think that she uses a lot of brands. I don't know anyone who ONLY uses one brand of makeup.

Example: I use a lot of makeup from Bobbi Brown (because my aunt works there lol). I've gotten makeup from: Mac, Maybelline, Mattese, CoverGirl, Revlon, L'Oreal, Estee Lauder, Clinique, Hot Topic, Forever 21....the list goes on. Lots of stuff from CVS. W00t for Wet'n'Wild! lol.

So, I don't think you'll get a concrete answer. Why do you want to know, anyway? I don't think it's all that important...but whatever *shrugs* (not to rag on you or anything, I just wondered :))

Cool cool...

Well the reason I wanna know is because I guess it looks really good on her.. and I was wondering whether there was a specific brand that she used most... for example you might buy mainly mac products.. but have 101 other bits n pieces in other brands..

I dunno its a bit of a weird question... its just I love make up... but i never know what to get and iv tried loadsa diff. brands.. I know that the same make up doesnt always look the same on different people... but still... if I knew what brands amy used.. or at least if i knew she used maybelline mascara, mac eyeshadow etc.. then i could try it out myself .... kinda like if for every video or something, there was a make up analysis, that said... weve used blah blah blah for here eyes and blah blah blah on her lips...

You know...

Its not majorly important... but im interested, thats all :-)

Nars sounds right, expensive and with an N. A lot of ppl seem to love MAC these days, it seems to work well. I guess some beauty mag or teeny magazine would have to interview her and ask her this so we can know what she uses. I kinda figured her to be an Urban Decay kind of girl...maybe a little Hard Candy...

I use only MAC products because they are not tested on animals, they have a great organization for AIDS (Viva Glam), there products work on me :), and they offer the most amazing colors for eyes !! I noticed the shadows as MAC on the show. But, you can see that she uses a lot of colors for her eyes and mac is the only company that I know of that offers such bright colors that go on bright on the eyes.

 It's a girl question....Although i hear she hates wearing make-up in general.....
Like i asked once if she officially has her eyebrow peircing out but didn't get an answer LOL!!!!....I assume it's gone....I'm a girl and i was just curious...;)
I would imagine she uses alot of different kinds as well i mean i use everything from Smash Box to Wet & Wild myself....:) Hey people are always curious about what celebs are wearing no biggy i don't think ;)

Yeah... if I had to guess id say she used a lot of MAC eyeshadow and I would have thought Urban Decay came into it.. though you never know... she might use something like Dior or Chanel :-/ They do pretty bright cols.

I think Im gonna go with the MAC for now... NARS is wayy too expensive.. well it is in the UK anyway.. if I am thinking of the right company...

I guess this is a question I can ask Amy on the talk to the band part of this forum.. but like I said before, its a bit of a strange question and it probs doesnt have a definite answer...

Would be interesting to have a look in her make up bag though :-) I guess im mainly interested because I have a really similar complexion... and I think the cols would suit me, so it would be nice to try out the same products and see if i can achieve the same effect :-)

Any more suggestions/answers/ideas/analyses welcome.. lol

I guess some beauty mag or teeny magazine would have to interview her and ask her this so we can know what she uses.I guess we'll know when she wins the Cosmo Girl contest!! Before she says anything she should secure an endorsement contract! Hey the guys do for thier guitars and amps.

Woah MAC sound good. I wonder why I've never heard of their products before. They are available in the UK right? Are they in a particular shop or something?

you can order and browse online at www.maccosmetics.com... I know a lot about their products, I own a lot of their products. you can e-mail me if you want or send me a message.. I'd be happy to help you, and it's really not that expensive in comparison to other cosmetic companies

I just did a search.. there are 32 places that sell MAC in the UK.. just go to the site and go to find stores on the right side, and under country select united kingdom and then search, and there you go!!

Yup... MAC is available in the UK... I know there are loads of places you can find MAC products in London... I know they sell them in most big department stores who have make-up/perfumery departments.. sometimes they have their own stand like Chanel, Estee Lauder etc.. I know they have MAC in Selfridges... Bentalls centre... ummm... look for make-up departments and you should find it... You wont find MAC products in places like Superdrug or Boots though... it's a little more designer lol...

Anyways, if all that fails, try the internet (though I guess you cant use testers online and that'd be annoying)...

Gd luck...

If I can't find any there's always the good ole christmas list.

I'm just checking the site now, but it's taking an age to load.

Ok so far MAC and NARS are being mentioned a lot.. its worth a try...

Id love for Amy's make up artist to do my make up for me one day like she does Amy's.. just so I could see how it was done and how it would look on me... lol.. Im crazy like that... love amy lee, love make-up :-)

If Amy ever reads this (which I doubt she will)... hope she gives us some answers :P Maybe if we mention that she promoted the brands, we can get discounts?? *keep on dreaming* :p

yea.. NARS is it- Beth was using it on her on the MTV diary. It's an awesome brand, and it stays on FOREVER, but definitely expensive. ;)

<--is dangerous when she walks into a Sephora store :D

Hey, if she can afford expensive makeup, then she should use it lol. Hmm...Nars...I've heard the name but haven't seen the brand...good thing I'm working right down the street from Sephora this week (w00t for NYC!); I'll be able to check them out. I'm always on the lookout for good stage makeup (I do theatre alot), so I might as well.

I love mac too. They usually sell it at big stores like Macy's, the products are a bit expensive but are well worth it. At my local store, compacts go for around 30 dollars while eyeliners go for 12. If it's your first time using mac, i RECOMMEND that you go to the store rather than ordering online, mainly because they help you choose a definite color which maches your exact complextion, therefore making you look flawless.

(AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT MY FRIEND ,WHO WORKS AT MAC, TOLD ME)

I don't really wear make-up except for when I go out (or when my friend makes me her guinny pig), but anyways, when I do, it's usually mac.

I don't know about that--given their most recent video I'm guessing she's not too into that sort of thing! hehe It would be cool though. Hi, by the way. I'm kinda new. :p

Hi Caemissa! hehe.. I was joking about the discounts, though I wouldn't complain lol!

MAC and NARS, MAC and NARS, hehehe... I am so going down the shops today, straight after someone who can take me gets home (Im lazy, dont want to take the bus) hehe

I dont know how much more expensive NARS is than MAC, but I think it is... I really wanna try out there stuff though...

I guess the type of make up Amy uses in the videos isnt really something youd wear to go out as it would be especially ott for the video... but Id definitely try out the lighter version...

I want her eye make up like it is in the My Immortal video..... and I want all her Going Under video make up too! I soo need to get that reddish eyeshadow - Ive never used red make up (apart from on the lips)... but since I have a similar complexion to Amy with black hair, Im hoping itll suit me good :-)

I've never tried MAC or any of these others, but one we haven't mentioned here is Ecco Bella--it's all natural, and they are completely against using animal ingredients or doing animal testing. Cruelty free. Which is a big thing for me--but it's also just really darned good make-up! You can get it online or at various stores around the country. Has anyone else heard of it? It's my favourite. ^^

sephora is an evil store....all those products in there bascially hinge on all your insecurities, lips too thin? use this lipgloss. too pale? try this bronzer! sephora is an evil store in that everything screams buy me....

Ive never heard of Ecco Bella...

I agree with etherealprey... sephora is evil :P I went in there last week and one of the people who worked there got me to try Jessica Simpson's Dessert range... omg... YUMMY... I was licking my hands the whole time lol.... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

But anyways... back to the topic at hand... I think this is turning into a which make up is the best convo... but who cares lol...

If anyone can confirm Amys make up though, that would be cool... like in the vids and stuff...

if you want stage makeup then i really think you should just use the special makeup that's made for theatre. you have to add a little water to it and then apply with those wedge sponges. good stuff, especially under all that lighting =) i can give you names of good brands and stuff tomorrow if you like.
NYC should be FILLED with stores that supply theatre makeup, so you're lucky =D
Aww thanks, I appreciate it :) I've been doing fine with copious amounts of normal makeup lol but actual stage makeup would be fantastic.

Checked out the Nars and Urban Decay stands at Sephora today (I work right down the street from one :D \m/) and sheesh...you guys weren't kidding when you said expensive. $15/18 for a small eyeshadow. I was like  lol not a good place to be when you have no money on you!

Urban Decay has a "Heavy Metal" section though...superglitter eyeshadows and very dark, dramatic stage colors. I was like '...must...not....spend...anything...' lol.

Sephora is evil in the sense that it makes you want to buy out the entire place. lol.

Yeah...but hey. You're bound to get all kinds of opinions on makeup. You've got me interested now, though. lol. Once I get home I'm checking out the VMA diary to see if I can see the name brand ;)

The bright coloured eye shadows she wears like the red and the bright blue i'm pretty sure are Make Up Forever. They might not be but they look very much like it. It's gorgeous eye-shadow and not really very expensive. I have a dark blue and am hoping to get a red soon.

Awww thanks Jas! I appreciate it :)

Dude, brushes rock but finger painting is awesome. ;) hehe. I have brushes (Bobbi Brown, baby! \m/) but I actually like my fingers better for some things. Okay, I'll be blunt: the cheaper eyeshadows work better with fingers ;) lol. Wet'n'wild stuff = fingers. Bobbi Brown = brushes.

You know what's actually really great? Those gel eye shadows/liners that come as pencils. CoverGirl makes them (only brand I can think of offhand) and they're SO cool. Perfect for when you need to do your makeup in five seconds lol. My favorite shades are the dark and light silvers that CG has.

...Okay. Enough of my mindless chatter. This is what happens when it's 11:40 and I'm tired.

Dude. I'm SO watching the Urban Decay stuff online and seeing if any of it goes on sale because that is AWESOME makeup.

And Jas...me jealous. ;)
