Hi! =)
Ok..guys.. i have never seen this review around here..
Singer Amy Lee is mesmerizing 08-12-2004
Instead of my regular music review, this week I had the pleasure of attending a concert Tuesday night in Lubbock at the West Texas Canyon Amphitheater, or “The Amp” as it is most commonly called around here.

Four bands were scheduled to play starting at 7, beginning with Breaking Benjamin, followed by Three Days Grace, then Seether, and finally Evanescence. I was a little worried about time constraints when I was told that all four bands would be playing on the same stage.
I´ve been to concerts in the past where there was an hour-long wait between acts, but their road manager needs to be commended. They had the show so well organized that there was minimal waiting time between bands, probably 15 minutes at the most.
Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace did a great job as opening bands to give the audience an entertaining show while waiting on the headliners. When Seether took the stage, the place erupted from a somewhat subdued murmur to the full-on loud and rowdy rock concert that I had been expecting.
Seether, along with Amy Lee (lead singer of Evanescence) performed their current hit single “Broken” on stage together, much to the audience´s delight. Seether closed their set with a cover of “You Know You´re Right” by Nirvana. Being a huge Nirvana fan myself, I must say they did a fantastic job.
After being at The Amp for 3 1/2 hours, I was ready to see who I had came for, Evanescence. When I reviewed their debut album the week of its release, I had no clue who they were but knew I loved it.
In the March 13, 2003, issue of The Herald, I said their album “Fallen” was “one of the best rock albums I´ve heard,” Amy Lee´s “vocals are some of the best I´ve heard in a rock setting,” and that her voice “soars crystal clear over the blaring guitars.”
I was anxious to see if she was this mesmerizing in person.
After being 6 inches from her in the photo pit, I can say yes - yes she is! However, now I have to upgrade her voice from “some of the best” to the best in all of modern rock, whether it be male or female.
Amy took the stage belting out each note with every inch of her being, and I just knew there was no way she could keep that up. She´d have to wear out after a few songs, but she didn´t. She powered through an hour-long set and an encore and never once seemed to “limp” through a song.
The concert was also a great bargain at $39 a ticket at the door and the whole venue fell under the “general admission” category so that you could go anywhere you wanted. That´s just under $10 per band, for around five hours of music.
All the bands were entertaining Tuesday night, but Amy Lee and Evanescence put on a performance that those of us lucky to be there won´t soon forget. If you weren´t able to make it, you still have a chance to see some great shows still to come in this concert season (the best concert season this area´s seen in a very long time).
Nickelback (in Amarillo), Hilary Duff, Clay Aiken, Metallica and Van Halen are all happening within the next month. Combine those with Aerosmith, Shania Twain, Slipknot and Jessica Simpson, all of whom have already performed in Lubbock this year, and you´ve got a concert season that´s going to be hard to top.
