Some of us like to use commas, too. I know Ms. Rice has trouble with that sometimes, but it really is just common courtesy.

Everyone, stop being nasty to the n00bs... apparently, they take it to heart.

Anne rice is a great author. Well, she was... then she wrote "Memnoch: The Devil" and the whole Vampire thing went tits up.

She also writes fairly passable erotica.

And Stan isn't the worst poet in the world...

i read the original chronicles and i personally enjoyed Memnoch quite a bit. i might even venture to say that, for me, it rivals Lestat as the best of that series.

I bought The Vampire Lestat during a layover at the airport, waiting for my plane, and ended up not being able to put it down. I think I finished it in a day (if you count "not sleeping for two days because I was too busy reading it" as a day).

I love most of Anne Rice's books, mainly the Vampire chronicles and other vampire books. I havent read her newest book yet. She is definitely one of my fave writers though.

I've been in one of her houses, worked there as an usher one evening...

Anne Rice is one of my favorite authors. I've only read two of her books fully, which are Interview with a Vampire and The Vampire Lestat ... but I'm in the process of reading Queen of the Damned, and am wanting to read Piano. My godmother just bought me a book of her's entitled Blackwood Farm which looks amazing also.

I have so many books I want to read by her, and yet barely any time. Blah.

I adore Anne Rice's literature. Ive read through from interview up to Blood and Gold as well as a few from her other series (I really enjoyed vitorrio out of the two new vampire chronicles.) LeStat is certainly one of the best literary characters to come out of modern fiction and while i have a hard time picking favourites out of her work I think I would say Tales of the Body thief is my favourite (I dont suppose anyone ever saw the 12 part comic adeptation that was made of it? just curious because i have only ever been able to find 3 of the issues)

Sorry, but the coolest vampire character of all time is Alucard from Hellsing.

Memmoch was weird; it just seemed to go in and get stuck. It wasn't that I didn't understand it; it just seemed to go on and on and on. The Vampire Armand is my fave book in the series so far; I can't help but adore him.

I've read the books in the chronicles, up to the memnoc book. Some of them are great, some are just good. That's my opinion.

you know, i just read the first 7 pages of Canticle this evening and i found it very interesting that the first few pages of the book are just Lestat talking about how great he is and how all you ungreatful bastards never appreciated the Memnoch book he wrote for you.

well, i for one love M. Lestat deLioncourt and fully appreciate anything he gives us. the rest of you can fuck yourselves.

It's the same for me with The Vampire Lestat. I just started reading it and I can't put it down! Mind you I wish I could read all of the books, but I was at least lucky to find TVL in the library. They didn't have her other books. Damn library!

whoa, d00d, u could be hurt for that!
nol...for me, Memnoch wasn't that great. I just couldn't get in to all that talk about the Scripture, but I think that's because I didn't understand it all that well. I think if I read the Bible, and then re-read Memnoch, I might like it better.
Anyways, I've read Interview, Lestat, Queen, Body Thief, Memnoch, Armand, Pandora, Vittorio...Then I read Witching Hour, Lasher, and Taltos, yes, I have read the Sleeping Beauty Trilogy, and I finally read Merrick while down in aussie. I've also read Conversations with Anne Rice by Michael Riley and The Vampire Companion which is ginormous but interesting as well.
All that is over to course of like...4 years i think, but i read stuff in between as well, duh.
anywas, once i finish up with Look Homeward, Angel (by Thomas Wolfe, so far, I don't recommend it) I'll finally read Blood and Gold and then Blackwood Farm..and Blood Canticle
then ill read her other stuff...I think I have Eden, Ramses the Damned, and Cry to Heaven already.
um..yeah..im definently an anne rice closet geek.
i think my favorite in the chronicals so far has been queen of the damned..i wasn't able to enjoy interview because i pretty much knew the movie by heart..and lestat started off kinda slow i think, then picked up. but the mayfair trilogy was GREAT and i totally recommend it!
taht is all...for now atleast. hehe.

I love Anne Rice :D. But I have only read two books written by her. They were awesome.
One of them was "interview with the vampire", the movie was great but not as good as the book.

Anne Rice used to be one of my favorite authors. The first three Vampire Chronicles books are great (Interview, Lestat, Queen). Tale of the Body Thief was pretty good, but not nearly up to the quality of the first three.

I read The Witching Hour too, which was good, even though I wasn't expecting it to be so much flashback/history.

The book of hers that is very good, but no one has mentioned is The Mummy. And NO, it has nothing to do with the campy The Mummy movies. It's a really fascinating take on immortality in that it's almost an inversion of her vampire stuff. Ramses' immortality is fueled by exposure to the sun, he doesn't have to hide from it.

You may have noticed above that I said she "used to be one of my favorites". I stopped reading her stuff after I read Memnoch the Devil. I understand if other people liked it, and that's OK, it's their opinion, but here's MY opinion: IT WAS JUST SO BAD! It sucked on the level of Highlander 2 or Star Trek 5. The kind of thing where you're reading about characters you used to care about, but you realize that they're being drug out and paraded around for one more thinly veiled attempt to make a few bucks. And all the while you're sitting there thinking, "I remember when this used to be cool". I'm sorry, the whole 'meeting God' thing - Whoa, talk about ego! It didn't work for William Shatner and Captain Kirk, and it didn't work for Anne Rice and Lestat either.

Sorry about the rant. Her early stuff is very good, it's just so disappointing to see an author who's work you really enjoyed go so badly downhill.

I started reading her Sleeping Beauty trilogy, which she wrote under the name of A. N. Roquelaure. I wanted some good erotica to read, and someone suggested it to me. Erotica it was, good it was not. I finished the first one, but I quit after a chapter into the second.

lol..that was the only erotica ive ever read, so i had nothing to compare it to, so i thought it was ok.
the reason im bringing this thread back is because i was at the video store and The Feast of All Saints was finally made in to a movie! im not expecting it to be good, but ill watch it anyways..after i read the book that is.
still haven't finished look homeward, angel...blah its so bad!
ummm..what else..oh yeah!
has the mayfair trilogy been made in to that tv movie they were talking about doing? it was supposed to air on tbs or tnt or something like that..but i dont know if it ever happened...

Oh I adore Anne Rice. However though I did enjoy Merrick I HATED the character. Yet in any case I have read all of the Vampire Chronicles. As for Stan...true pitty he died :(

P.S. Queen of the Damned ( the film) butchered the book. Completely.

I'm in the middle of the Vampire Lestat. She is a great author and I can't wait to read the rest of the books. Only problem over here is that they are having publishing problems so there are some books that are sold out and I can't get them at the moment so when I finish Queen of the Damned I'm a bit stuck lol :)

That's OK. At least you got to read the good ones.

(Read my earlier post for my opinions on the later vampire books.)

just order them from amazon or borders.com or something..better yet im sure you can probably find them on ebay for cheaper..they aren't hard to find cuz the early ones are a few years old now..
the Queen of the Damned movie was horrible, but I disagree. It didn't butcher the book..the book is fine, the book is great. that movie just proves that only anne rice should write the screenplays if they want to make her books in to movies..
but c'mon, it was nice to watch staurt townsend be lestat..even if he wasn't a blonde frenchman..heheheh.

I ador the vampire chronicals. *Points to avatar and sig* I read like seven of the books at a time. You must love them, they are the type of vampires i thought are closest to being real my entire life. Beautiful and strong and smart godamnit! Anne Rice is one of the best authors ever.

I've read The Vampire Lestat a couple of times. I have read Violin, The tale of the body thief and all the three books about the Mayfair Witches. (The witching hour was the best in my opinion). But Im more attracted to her vampire stories. I just fished reading Pandora. I just looove Anne Rice :D
