thank god, there are replies... so there was a pinoy thread here before... I didn't know that because I'm too busy for my school. homeworks here, homeworks there, homeworks everywhere and I only used internet for my projects before...

While I have not yet been in the Philippines, I am Deeply in love with a Philippina. And as soon as I have saved enough money I plan on moving there and hopefully live the rest of my days among such a wonderful people.

Is there any tips anyone can give concerning life in the Philippines? Or anything else. I am a very open person and want to learn as much as possible.:cool:

Learn Tagalog is a good start. Or Spanish

Whoa! Good to see people from my country here. I have my "Spanish origins", but that's almost disregarded, because it's been 2-3 generations ago. The only thing I carry now from that Spanish ancestry is my middle name - "Legaspi". So, heck with that, I'm Filipina. :)

After you've learned Tagalog, make it a habit to use "po" and "opo". It's a sign of respect. ;)

Unfortunately, I can't speak Spanish, but I can understand it a bit when I hear it. There are a lot of "Tagalog" words that are actually Spanish that people here say everyday (e.g. "kutsara" = spoon, "silya" = table), w/c became considered as "Tagalog" due to frequent usage. So technically, almost everybody speaks Spanish w/o even them knowing. :D
