Origin, track 8

Ben Moody is credited to have written the song for Origin. Many Evboarders believe that it would make a great wedding song. David Hodges sings backup vocals. In an Evboard interview, Moody called this among one of the least favorite songs he had ever written. The story and the Claire Danes/Leonardo DiCaprio movie version of Romeo and Juliet is often regarded to be an inspiration for this song. There is an outtake of David Hodges singing the chorus horridly. If you are lucky enough to own an original copy of Origin, the Anywhere outtake is not after Origin ends, but before Origin begins. The only way to get to the bonus "0" track is to rewind the CD from the 30 second Origin intro that starts the album.

Anywhere

Dear my love haven’t you wanted to be with me
And dear my love haven’t you longed to be free?
I can’t keep pretending that I don’t even know you
And at sweet night you are my own
Take my hand

[CHORUS:]
We're leaving here tonight
There's no need to tell anyone
They'd only hold us down
So by the morning light
We'll be half way to anywhere
Where love is more than just your name

I have dreamt of a place for you and I
No one knows who we are there
All I want is to give my life only to you
I've dreamt so long I cannot dream anymore
Let's run away, I'll take you there

[Chorus]

Forget this life
Come with me
Don't look back you're safe now
Unlock your heart
Drop your guard
No one's left to stop you

Forget this life
Come with me
Don't look back you're safe now
Unlock your heart
Drop your guard
No one's left to stop you now

[Chorus]

Lyrics by: A. Lee, B. Moody, D. Hodges.

i can't understand why Ben would say he hates the song. hmm  i guess its just cuz some artists nitpick alot on their own work. THe outtake on Origin may not be good but i honestly think Anywhere is one of the most beautiful and passionate songs i've ever heard. The theme, the arrangement, the vocals everything just makes the lyrics sound so sincere. :) Anywhere is definitely gonna be my wedding song

Yeahhhhhh-eah. You're not saving that.

I still laugh every time I hear that. :)

Drop your guard
No one's left tp stop you now (Do-- one's left to stop you now)
Yeah e yeah yeah

You're not saving that

There's a lot of prejudice against the undead.

That's how the outtake/blooper, whatever you want to call it, goes. The line in parenthises is what David messed up.

I have an original of Origin, well it's supposedly and original, and that's what i hear when I rewind Track 1 which is Origin.

The guy who sold the CD to me said it was indeed an original by the serial code on the back of the CD and by the design on the CD Label.

crt bwe0002 x0a21c and the design on the back when you flip the CD over and with the label down should be the middle and bottom things from the capitial E.

Don't know why Ben hates this one but when I put the Cd in or sing it to my husband it seems to calm him down and stop his seizures

It's probably because he thinks it's cheesy by his standards. But we're Evboarders, and we like cheese. That and drama :)

Yeah, I mean, this song sounds so happy, maybe he doesn't like the song because it gives them a carefree-happy-lovey-dovey image.....er something....I really don't know why......

Gotta be one of my favourite pre fallen songs, which most of my friends are surprised at, they don't think I can do sensitive songs...

This is definately my favourite track from Origin, and one of my favourite Evanescence tracks.

It has beautiful lyrics and for some reason makes me imagine me on the coast, or by really beautiful scenery. I love her voice, love the lyrics and it's a long song as well. Just love to sing along to it. Great track :)

what does she mean by "drop your god"?

are those the lyrics, because if it is, that's the part i really don't like about the song.

"Unlock your heart, drop your guard" is ironically my favourite lyrics in the song, funny you should point it out. Basically meaning drop the barracades and let me in?

Great lyrics, would love to hear this performed live.

This was the first song on Origin I really started to like! Not counting Whisper, Imaginary, or My Immortal because they're on Fallen.

When I first heard the song, I thought she said that too. I remember thinking "how could people confuse them with a Christian band if she says that?" Then I looked in the Origin booklet and found out she says guard.

I love this song..sometimes it even makes me cry. The last chorus where she sings "We're leaving here tonight" really strong it just sounds so full of emotion and i love that. It either makes me cry or it makes me smile lol. Whatever emotion i'm feeling stronger. But i just love love love it!

I always thought that the "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" part after the song was part of it? But Chris didn't include it in the lyrics...are they a seperate thing unto themselves?

Hmms, I have the original cd, I'll have to listen to it. Is it while you're rewinding it that you hear it?

Yeah I'm dumb cause I can't figure it out.

No, see right after Anywhere if you wait for Lies to start, you'll just hear them singing "Yeah yeah" again for a bit and then Lies will start.

But if you have a walkman, the "Yeah yeahs" are considered track 8, and while it's playing the time isn't counting.

I think It's cool to put in a hidden track 0. I love the song. It makes me think of my former best friend and how we would get away from the world together. It took me a while to understand the "Where love is more than just your name..." part, but now it's my favorite line from the song.

I just heard this song and I really love it, but is the ending part where they say yeah yeah part of the song or the beginning for Lies?

That "yeah yeah" part is at the end of "Where Will You Go?".

I'm still waiting for an answer lol.

I just think of the "yeah yeah yeah" part as an extension of Anywhere.

I know you asked it. That's why I asked it again because I wanted the answer also!

That's the way I think of it except it sounds funny because the song kind of stops and then it does it.

As far as I know It's a WWYG reprise at the end.
That would explain the Yeah Yeah's, And I think i Dunno I don;t have My Origin on me atm But It goes into The next song..

Haha if this post made any sense you guys rock haha

halfway2anywhere
10-06-2006, 10:21 PM
actually, if you have a REAL copy of origin, put it in your CD player and you'll see that when the song "anywhere" finishes, it starts counting down a negative amount of seconds until the Yeah Yeah "where will you go" reprise is over and then it proceeds to the next track.

so no, the Yeah Yeah section is not part of Anywhere. its an un-numbered track between 8 and 9.

when you've ripped this CD to your computer, the CD-ROM sees that unnumbered track as part of track 8, therefore, adding it to Anywhere.

Ceez
10-06-2006, 11:18 PM
So, since it's a seperate track I guess it can be officially considered a WWYG reprise, yes?

Man, talk about playing sneaky little games on recordings.

This is a gorgeous song. I listen to it quite frequently because I just can't get enough of it. If it wasn't for "Lies," this would be my favorite of Ev's old songs. Amy's voice is amazing, the lyrics are stunning, and the entire song itself is soothing and affectionate. It was brilliantly put together and I really wish it was produced again in the future because I think it would be very popular among everybody.

I love this song so much. I always get bored if I stay in the same place too long, so I like to switch it up. This song makes me just wanna leave and go somewhere without telling anyone....but at the same time have the people I leave behind not worry about where I went you know?

Like when I get really bored, I'll take a bunch of random buses in town and go somewhere I've never been...but still it just doesn't cut it lol.

Anyhoo...
