Moderators oversee specific forums. They generally have the ability to edit and delete posts, move threads, and perform other manipulations. Becoming a moderator for a specific forum is usually rewarded to users who are particularly helpful and knowledgeable in the subject of the forum they are moderating.

I agree with what ToB said. I've been a member here for a shortish while... but everytime I come on I am hesitant to come back because of the attitudes of some of the members here. Being a mod myself, I know how frustrating it is to constantly see the same threads starting up over and over again. But there is no reason to be rude to newbies... I'm not at the board I moderate and it annoys me immensely when I see fellow members doing so...

We had a member on there that was bad about starting up multiple threads, and he was also a massive post-whore. I was kinda blunt and pointed it out to him. The admin made me a mod, which torqued off the member, and he hasn't signed in since. Thank you evboard for the experience in posting :hugz:

Truthfully, I'm not a mod anymore because I originally made a decision that my days at Evboard were done (the atmosphere here was too toxic for my tastes, so I left), so the decision was made that someone who no longer visits a board shouldn't be a mod. But then I decided to come back.


Lauren? I haven't heard from her in a while. I guess she's not online anymore. And I think that Michelle has chosen not to be a mod anymore.

I decided to retire myself as a mod, so to speak. I don't have the time to be a teenager and spend hours modding on a forum. I have way too much to be doing with my life right now, like making up for things I've already missed. I don't regret being a moderator at all though. It's been one of the most trying and learning experiences I've had, and I appreciate what it's given to me in the end, as well as the people I've met thanks to this forum.

Besides, there are better people for the job anyway. Like Dhamma.

Such big changes in the mod world going on recently. It's great to have some new faces though, even though it'll be sad to see some of the older vets go.

Right, from experience... It takes a lot of work and commitment to be a moderator on this site. It's not a fucking popularity contest, nobody loves you more for doing it... It's a job. And to be honest, there are easier jobs.

Michelle and Nelson gave SO FUCKING MUCH to be moderators of this board. I can't speak for Nelson as much as I can for Michelle, because I know Chelle more than Nelson, but... The following is true.

Nelson is one of those rare human beings who is willing to be true to himself and the world around him no matter what anyone else thinks. He's kind and honest and as straight as a die... That's why he was a Moderator in the first place and that's why he's not a Moderator anymore. He's got other areas to direct his energy.

Michelle is one of the wisest, smartest, funniest and basically most beautiful people I've ever had the pleasure to know (and lately, to work with). She has formed this message board into what it was for the last year and we ALL owe her a debt of immense gratitude... You, Me, ToB... everyone. And that includes the band. Evboard is the place it is today largely due to the efforts of this sassy young lady.

Don't even start me on Lauren... You know what? in the dictionary under "Perfection", there's a picture of Lauren. She has all my love, always.

Dhamma will be an asset to the board. He's smart, wise, funny and a good friend. BUT...
