Would you like them in English or any language at all?

Well I'm not really sure what your music/language preference is, but I really really want to recommend BoA (Korea, Singer) to you, haha. Well, she can actually sing, she speaks English, Japanese, Korean, and if I'm not mistaken, also Chinese. Hm. And she's cute too. :D Also, try The Trax (Korea, Band), because they did awesome when they performed with BoA once. I knew about them through that performance. (BoA sang in both Japanese and Korean with this korean band and a japanese dance group)

Also, if you listen to rap, you might wanna try Too Phat (Malaysia, Duo). They're a hip hop duo who recently made their debut in Europe, though I'm not sure how well they did. You might also want to check OAG (Malaysia, Band) out. They used to be an indie band singing in English but now they're more mainstream and sing mostly Malay songs. They still maintain their indie rawness so it's all good. Try Siti Nurhaliza (Malaysian, Singer) if you like diva-ish pop/rnb act because she's huge in this region.

Also, try Regine Velasquez, she's Phillipines' diva, no kidding. Also, you might wanna listen to Parokya Ni Edgar - great band.

Try Pru (Thailand, Band) if you like rock. Also, "Bird" Tongchai McIntyre (Thailand, Singer) is a pretty weirdish pop-ish dance-ish act, but he's kinda entertaining on stage and stuff. :D

Also, Utada Hikaru (Japan, Singer), but I'm pretty sure she's kinda quite knowned worldwide so you might have already heard of her.

From Indonesia, you can listen to Indonesia's divas - Anggun or Kris Dayanti if you like pop/rnb flavour. Or, if you prefer rock bands, try Sheila on 7. If you like ethnic/world/jazz fusion music, listen to Krakatau (Indonesia, Band). Try Mocca (Indonesia, Band), if you're all into jazzy/poppy, they're hot. :P

If you like Chinese pop, you might wanna check out F4 (BOYBAND). They were really big around this region when they first started. And they all speak English well to, being all 'westernised' because they've been living in the US or something. 5566 (BOYBAND) is kinda huge too, maybe not after Toro left the band though. But they got really spunky hairdo. :p

Also, if you can, try to catch the MTV Asia Awards 2005. You might be able to catch some really cool asian artistes there. :)

I spent about an hour writing and proofreading this a few times lol. I hope it helps. I'm kinda bored so you're lucky I decided to drop by here because I haven't been around for ages! :D

Are there any heavier/goth stuff artists or bands in Asia? That might sound really interesting. I really liked BoA's theme for Serial Experiment Lain, it's lovely, haven't listened to other songs that much. Then there's that guy who did music for the Silent Hill games, his music is awesome, just can't remember his name right now... But if you wanna check it out, just find a song by the name of Room 312. It's instrumental, hopefully that won't bother you, it's just awesome.

Actually, since Asians are very 'conservative' and such, most of the heavier bands are very underground. So I don't really know the underground music scene in the other countries, but here in Malaysia, we have a lot of great great underground bands. In fact, Rock The World V is the fifth concert for (underground) rock bands performances. Most of them though are just pure rock cling-clang music. :P

Some of the better ones are Naked Breed, Evenstarr, One Buck Short, Qings & Kueens, FTG, Love Me Butch, Prana, Cromok Tribus, Akur, Forget Me Not and Disagree. Here (http://www.musiccanteen.com/mc_artistlist.aspx) is where you can find the list of most of the local underground bands/singer. Not all are hard rocking head banging bands though, but you can read reviews of them by clicking the name and see if they are or not. :D

FTG, is one of the most metal band here. "Running With The Wind" is the only 'mellow' song they have out of somewhat 102 songs.

Try looking for Slapshock, Wolfgang, Razorback and Greyhoudz. They're rock bands from the Philippines.

lol, my friend is Japanese..She's currently obsessing over Porno Graffiti *lmao* don't mind the name..I guess some of their music is catchy, if you've heard of the anime Full Metal Alchemist..some of their songs were used...

Umm..Utada Hikaru has some pretty songs...

Or um, Nana Kitade, though I've only heard a few songs Kesenai Tsumi is a funky/catchy one.

There's also this group/singer (don't know much about her) Changin' My Life or something like that lol..she's done some cool songs like um, Eternal Snow...

and there's Myco, Myself is a good song...lol I'm rambling...Um yeah, I have no clue what your taste in music is, I only know some J-pop, which I don't really like that much anymore...x.x ..If you like Utada Hikaru I think you might like some of these..

I love Utada Hikaru, or Hikki as I call her. I got into her music when my friend (who is Japanese) came into school one day about 2 years ago and told to listen to some Japanese pop music. There is history lol! I love it!

I'm not really a fan of Ayumi Hamasaki, 'cause her voice kind of grates. Hikki is a much better singer I think...

I've only listened to Asian music when I was young, and nowadays I don't get the chance to listen to it. But there are a few English speaking Asian acts that are good like Raghav and Jay Sean

Twelve Girls Band - internationally known, they play classical music and Chinese instruments. My mom's got their most recent album and it's not bad, they got a cover of Coldplay's Clocks on there too.

Nami Tamaki - Japanese pop music..it's alright.

Jinusean - Korean duo, Hip Hop, they worked with Prodigy of Mobb Deep on a song befo. It's in english in that song tho.

Mountain Brothers - been around for a long time. Hip Hop group, with producer Chops, who had a real nice album with the likes of Planet Asia, Kanye West, Raekwon, etc. on the tracks, and he also received praise from the likes of the RZA, Premier, etc. He also just produced a few tracks off ODB's Osirius mixtape and some of the shit he produced for ODB might be on his Roc-a-fella debut album (which is still scheduled to be released)..

DJ Babu - DJ for Dilated Peoples, of Asian descent...? And there's a group too, Beat Junkies, I think he's affiliated with them?

DJ Q-Bert - ...1/3rd of Invisbl Skratch Piklz...internationally known DJ.

Beat Junkies - ...

DJ Krush - Blends Japanese traditional music with Hip Hop with respected acts featured on his albums...

Hiroshima - Jazz fusion...

Utada Hikaru has Timbaland production on her US album...I'm seroius too.

There's one Japanese rock band that made it to the US, I actually got a trailer for one of their albums on a turntabilism DVD..I don't remember the name but it's weird and I'm sure everyone who listens to late '90s rock has heard the song befo. There's more but I don't remember the names even...

A few good bands/artists that I've heard of are:
*Jay Chou (Hotness!)
*Jolin Tsai
*JJ Lin
*F.I.R (pop/rock, really cool, the name stands for Fairyland In Reality, or Faye(vocalist), Ian (keyboardist+producer+hotness) and Real (guitarist))
*S.H.E. (not a female/Asian version of H.I.M. but they're still good)
*Taiwan Roc (Taiwanese Metal band, the only one I know of so far, from what I've heard they're good. Kind of remind me of slipknot but in Mandarin)
*Malice Mizer (J-rock, disbanded in 2001, watch the Beast of Blood Video, it's really cool)
*Gackt (formerly of Malice Mizer...I think he's really hot in a weird way)
*Utada Hikaru (Spent most of her life in Manhattan and Japan, did the song 'Simple and Clean' for Kingdom Hearts, listen to her CD Exodus, most of the songs are about sex but she has a really pretty voice and the songs are catchy, especially "Exodus '04')
*Se7en (I don't like K-pop that much but just listen to 'Baby I like You Like That')
That's pretty much all I can think of now, but I 'll come back with more after my trip to C-town next week.

he just does instrumental music but I really love Nobuo Uematsu's work for the Final Fantasy games. He's a wonderful composer and the songs are so beautiful and inspirational. And on his official site you cn get all the sheet music for alot of songs for different instruments so that's really cool.

Utada Hikaru is awesome...I got hooked when I heard her song "Simple and Clean (English version). I've recently been obsessing over her new single "Passion" (it's not released in English, but the Japanese version is beautiful).
