They were ok, i wasn't thrilled with them. I like the songs and the music but the lead singer drove me nuts with these stupid arm movements he did.

To be honest, although Atomship gave a solid performance, the crowd
really came to life when the headliner (Ev) came on. A lot of people seemed
to either arrive late or maybe they were milling around in the concourse
because the place didn't look very full while Atomship was onstage. But by the time Ev was into its 2d tune, the place was packed, and Amy had the audience (especially the mosh pit) going nuts.

Myself, I will look forward to the day when Ev has enough material so
that they only use opening act....but we will probably paying more than 28.50 by then! I saw where Metallica is getting 77.50 in even larger venues, so I
can't complain at all about the 75 min performance for a LOT less bread.

That usually happens at a lot of concerts....most of the people usually show just before the headliner....I enjoy to see the (sometimes new) opening bands!

Ya so I noticed. I had never been to the venue plus I live
a couple hrs away so I wanted to get there early and relax.
Got me a free parking space and saved 10.00 too. :D

LOL if you have ever seen them live it is the funniest thing. the guy is cute and all in that weird kind of way and really nice as well but his performance kills me! He has this hilarious bendy microphone stand and he moves it around like a worm lol! its great. now whenever i listen to it with my friends i do the dance and they are all like : NO! THINK ABOUT WHAT YOUR DOING! NO!!! lol i guess you have to be there

LOL, yeah, that thing he does with the mic is freakin' hysterical. :D I saw them twice (at 2 Ev shows) and I laughed at that both times. I'm going to see them again in a few days. It's gonna be a cool show - Sevendust, Cold, Apartment 26, and Atomship. Actually, my friend and I are going to see Atomship more than any of the other bands. I love these guys! And I can't wait to see the mic thing again... :p I'm laughing just thinking about it.

Ooh, their cd comes out in 4 days!! LOL, yeah, I'm excited. :D

I got to admit, I liked their music....But about them live.......I got a few words for ya..WTF???? Seriously. Do you think you won't get booed on if you move around like you got something shoved up your a**??? Damn!!! I loved Default though!!!!! I was hyped up o "Wasting my Time" and I will be getting the CD of Atomship, just not going to their concerts for a LONG time. :) Peace

*hugs her Atomship CD* Good. Stuff.

I saw them open for Ev three times and they lyek totally r0x0red ;). I first found out about them through one of those mystery band e-mails from Wind-Up. I liked what I heard and paid a little visit to their (rather bare then, and still rather bare now) website. Later, I saw them open for Ev in concert. They were awesome live. The first show, I was like ok they're pretty cool. The second show, I upgraded that to liking them a lot. And, by the third show, I shot it up another notch. They're also really nice guys and cool to talk to.

I guess the singer's (Joey) movements were kinda weird, but I actually think it's rather cool that he was just rocking out to the music, ("spazzing or seizuring" as people like to refer to it as) and that he didn't give 2 sh*ts about what he looked like doing it...eh, it made for some good entertainment rather than him just standing there. :p

I first heard about them on The Punisher Album. Their song 'Time For People' is pretty cool. I havn't heard any of their other stuff. I heard they sucked major ass live. As the person who told me referred to them as Atomshit. Oh well. I'll find out for myself sometime soon though. :)

For anyone who's interested, Atomship.com has just recently been updated with a new design and added features. Also, if anyone saw them live in Birmingham or Donthan, Alabama, NYC, or Denver, live pictures from those shows are up. I was at the NYC show so it's definitely cool to see that those pictures made it onto the site.

Btw, The Crash of '47 is an excellent album, so I definitely recommend picking it up. I knew I would like it, I just didn't know I would this much(and might I add, the drumming is insane!).

...**PiMPSLaPS whoever said that**...

now that that's taken care of...

No actually, the show I went to, my friend Raymond and I were going to go outside and smoke a cigarette during the opening band performances, but we just couldn't get out of our seats when we heard Atomship. First off, the bassist is unreal, and they really have a lot of real energy, similair to Evanescence. They really connected with the audience, and had true emotion in the music and the vocals. Default, on the other hand, blew goats sideways in my opinion. Seemed almost choreographed, very impersonal with the crowd, and just had looks on their faces like "Yeah, you knew you came to see us, just admit it... We rock your sox..." I just didn't *dig* them.

I totally agree that Atomship has and gives off a whole load of energy live and I thoroughly enjoyed the performances I've seen. And, while I like Default, I also agree that their stage presence isn't exactly um, presentable. I loved hearing the music live and the bassist's braids being swung all over the place was rather entertaining, but the rest, like you said, was a bit impersonal.

Ok. First of all, I would just like to say that I am one of their biggest fans. Their album is incredible, and as you can tell from my avatar and my kick ass sig that goddessk made for me ;), I am in LOVE with them.

Now, I have a question for those of you who have heard the album, and are farmiliar with the song "Agent Orange".

I noticed that in one song, he says "can't you see I'm fuckin' cooking???" so I know that the CD is not censored. But, on Agent Orange, when he's screaming about the American flag, part of it is censored.

He says, "This is how you hold your American, American flag...
This is how you hold your American -censored- flag..."

Does anyone know what he says there? I do understand that they probably did that for artistic purposes, sort of their way of emulating the censorship of Vietnam, but I would really like to know what he says! :)

If anyone can help me, I would be forever indebted to that person ;)

Ha, I love that song. :D Ok, well, I checked the lyrics on their site... and they're wrong for quite a bit of the songs, so I don't trust 'em. What I get out of that part is...

"So this is how you hold patriotic flag.
We're all a bunch of disgraces."

But, if you listen really close (I suggest headphones), then the part where he says "Patriotic" also kinda sounds like it's got "methodical" (or something) blurred in there... and the "We're all a bunch of disgraces" part sounds like it may have "cowards" mixed in there with "disgraces". I dunno. I guess I kinda hear something different everytime I listen to it. And the part at the end, which is prabably what you'tre asking about... I have no idea. It almost sounds like it coulda been "god damn" before they messed with it... I don't know. I'd love an answer too!!

I was hoping they'd have done it live at the show I was just at, but they didn't. Hmm... he's kinda hard to understand on a lot of the things he says, isn't he? Eh, oh well. They rock!! Second only to Evanescence in my book. :D And yeah, I agree with everyone who's said that the cd kicks ass!

Yeah, that's a different part that he's censored... You know the part where he's screaming? "THIS IS HOW YOU HOLD YOUR -------- FLAG!" That's what I'm trying to figure out... I was thinking of ripping that clip into mp3, and sending it to goddessk so she can fuck around with it on Sonar... Maybe it's reversed ;)

05-17-2004, 04:22 PM
Yeah, I figured, after I typed all that, that the part you meant was at the end. I've been listening to it nonstop now.... and I still can't figure it out. I kinda doubt that it's reversed, but hey, your guess is as good as mine. :) If you and goddessk figure it out, please, let me know. It's driving me crazy now. LOL.

Ok...

Here are the sound clips, complete with the words he's really saying:

Clip 1 (http://www.goddessk.com/trans2.mp3)

Clip 2 (http://www.goddessk.com/trans3.mp3)

Clip 3 (http://www.goddessk.com/translation.mp3)

Looks like he's simply saying "fucking".

:D

I still think it was done for artistic purposes. Being that the government still won't really talk about Vietnam, I think it's their way of emulating the censorship. Kudos to Atomship for being that creative :D (I already knew they were.... lol)

Hey guys, these are the official lyrics to Agent Orange (of course I put stars in)

Agent Orange

This is how you hold your American flag.
This is how you hold your American flag.
So this is how you hold your patri-f*cking-otic flag.
We’re all a bunch of f*cking disgraces!

There sits and old man he’s writing and typing and paying his tax to the law.
I see him through the window sill.
There you are laughing and joking and waiting and praying for life to be free.
And I know that you mean him well.
Stands up anger and walks to the doorway where he can yell clearly at me.
And I’m not sure I know what he means.

Losing track of days.
Staring to sky.
As the old man yells.

So this is how you hold your American f*cking, f*cking flag!
So this is how you hold your funny little flag?

Losing track of days.
Staring to the sky.
As the old man dies.
As the old man dies. (x2)

I hope I got are the curses lol..anyway, here ya go!
