Did not go, but here is what went down, Compliments of DrgnOfBadFaith
"Breaking Benjamins played first... and it was cool cause if you bought their cd for $10 you could go backstage to meet them for a whole minute! woot!
Then Three Days Grace came on and kicked some ass. Everyone loved the band.
Seether was next. They played Gasoline, 69 Tea, Driven Under, Needles, I'm The One, Hang On, Fine Again, Broken (yes Amy sang with em), Because of Me, and did a cover of You Know Your Right.
Afterwards Seether's drummer tossed a drumstick which hit me in the head. :D
After a long wait... Evanescence took the stage. Haunted, Going Under, Taking Over Me, Everybody's Fool, Thoughtless, My Last Breath, Farther Away, Breathe No More, My Immortal, Bring Me To Life, Tourniquet, Imaginary, Zero, and Whisper rounded out their set list. Show rocked. Amy sported a cowboy hat for her apperance with Seether during Broken, and wore her usual black tanktop and self made dress for Evanescence's performance. The stage was awesome and everyone loved the show."
Oh yea
"i forgot to mention in there that Amy spit on me.... but I doubt it matters"

Thanks Matt I <3 you. The forums scare me so I shy away from them...
But if anyone saw me... I was the skinny white guy who wore a bright pink shirt that said "Tough Guys Wear Pink." I was in the pit, but I made a few trips to the lawn area to hang with some of my less fortunate friends.
And yea Amy did spit on me while she was singing... Kinda gross... but... it's Amy. So yea. :D

I posted the message below to a new thread (my bad). In my very sleepy state late last night (long week -sigh-), I overlooked this thread and started one of my own which is now (appropriately) locked. I can't move the post here so I'm reposting it to the correct thread which I hope is okay. Sorry for the duplication. I'll try to avoid making a similar mistake in the future.
I'd like to reply to some of those who replied to me, and add a few more comments now that I'm (somewhat -grin-) more awake.
Thanks for correcting my referring to "Farther Away" as "Fallen Away". I have the song on (at least) two EV singles, and know better. BTW, that's one EV song that I have never been enthusiastic about, but last night was different. It really rocked -- great drumming especially, and the whole band seemed to be into it, more so than what had gone on before.
My focus in my review was almost exclusively on Amy Lee. The only mention of the band I made was "They were note perfect" (high praise actually). That's probably is unfair to these highly capable instrumentalists, but in all honestly there are a lot of highly capable drummers, and guitarists today in the field of rock. What is missing, IMHO, is the truly great vocalists, and even more so the great writers.
Amy Lee stands out as one of the rare (arguably in league of her own) vocalists, outside of classical music, who the shear beauty and expressive quality of her voice causes me to melt away into tears.
I also have the greatest admiration for those artists who are great writers. Lee and Moody assembled an incredible set of songs for their first wide-release CD, "Fallen". I have little doubt that Amy Lee is a true creative genius, a great writer of lyrics and melodies with a keen ear for orchestration and arrangement.
Some members of collaborative teams go on to great work by themselves and with others. I have no doubt at all that Amy Lee will do that, too. I have no doubt that she will eventually be remembered as one of the great songwriters and performers of rock music. It will be interesting to see if she ever attempts to score a movie. I think she is so gifted, she could do that as well. Finally, I wonder if she will ever try to act? Her video performances have been so striking, especially in the "Everybody's Fool" video, which completely changed how I relate and react to that song when I hear it now.
It will be interested to see how the rest of the band will contribute to the next CD. For now they are a backup band for a great star, Amy Lee. Think about it. If Amy Lee left Evanescence and none of the songs she wrote were ever performed by them again, would the band be the same? If any of the other band members were to leave, and none of their songs were ever performed, would Evanescence likely continue? Of course it would.
Finally, I think it significant that someone who is 50 something, who hasn't been to a rock concert in about 15 years (Heart in Houston), and who almost exclusively goes to classical music concerts would feel motivated to show up to a rock concert again. But, Evanescence and Amy Lee in my estimation rank well above ANYTHING I have ever heard in rock (and I've been listing to it for about 40 years). It is really in a league of its own, so far as I'm concerned -- the blend of darkness and beauty, the seamless blend of the rock and classical thematic and orchestration ideas into one inspired and deeply moving fabric.
Consider me a dedicated fan. From reading her interviews, I realize this has been a hectic and troubled year for the band, especially the sudden loss of Ben Moody. I wish them the best, and look forward to what the future holds for them.
My 20 something son and his 50 something dad (yours truly) just returned from the live Evanescence concert at the Woodlands Pavilion (just outside of Houston, TX).
My son assured me that if we arrived at 9:00 we would see all of Seether's act. Imagine my surprise and dismay as we approached the concert and heard "Broken" in the distance. Was my heart broken. -frown- Judging from what I heard (actually, the sound wasn't bad given we were well over 1000 feet away at the time), the performance sounded significantly better than the clip I saw from the Pepsi Smash.
Although I called ahead just before we left for the concert to check if my digital camera was okay, we were held up at the gate because of my camera. They first told me I had to check it, and then they changed their minds. So, if you are thinking about taking a camera, get a second or even third opinion or you may be checking your camera unexpectedly. Also, if your camera is video capable (like mine), don’t be surprised if a staff person pays you a visit if you point your camera at a performance for too long. ;-)
Being the nerd that I am (-grin-), I also had my sound pressure meter with me. I was going to use the meter to see if I needed to wear earplugs (my old ears don't tolerate extremely loud sound -frown-). Needless to say, no one had ever tried to bring in a SP meter before, and the people at the gate were totally freaked out over it. Although it was completely benign, I had to check it.
We asked a couple guys what was up with Seether being done with their act at 9:05 p.m. They said it lasted only 30 minutes. That sounded pretty short to my son and me. I don’t know if the 30 minute figure was accurate or not of course.
Our seats were (I'm guessing) about 50 feet from front center stage. There was a giant screen to my right about 15 feet away. I didn't need my SP meter to tell me I needed my earplugs. We were about 25 feet away from 8 very large, body-poundingly loud speakers. Maybe it was just my old ears, but the concert sounded better (!) with my earplugs in than out. The sound seemed pretty distorted when I didn't have them in.
Evanescence started with Haunted, and proceeded to do all of the songs from Fallen (not in order) except for Hello. They also did Farther Away and Breathe No More. The only cover was Korn's "Thoughtless", which I had never heard, but my son remarked he thought it was significantly better than the original. He played the original for me a few minutes ago, and I totally agree with him. Then again, I think having Amy Lee doing covers would probably improve 90%+ of most rock songs. She is such an incredible, singularly gifted rock vocalist.
When Ms. Lee first spoke to the audience, her voiced sound hoarse to me. This concert is towards the end of a long touring season, and I imagine fatigue is becoming a factor. Still, Amy Lee gave a 100% effort, and while not perfect, she did about as well as I have seen her do at most live performances. She did mention that she was going to do some numbers earlier rather than later before she "lost her voice". That seemed to confirm my suspicions about fatigue. The rest of the band seemed to be note perfect to me.
The Korn cover seemed to be a turning point in the concert which went from good to very good. After Thoughtless she did Farther Away, which I really got into. I think this live performance was much better than the studio version!!
I found myself singing along during Breathe No More, which I think is such a wonderful song. My son told me about half of the audience was singing along in spots during the concert. I was too focused on watching Amy Lee and the band that I didn’t notice. BTW, the pavilion was packed. It was a very good turnout I think.
The introduction to Bring Me to Life was significantly longer and different than the studio version. That was interesting, and pretty cool I think. Also, I should mention that while I think Amy Lee has always been a good piano player, her keyboards skills seem to have improved since I last saw her play live (Letterman Show just after the Grammy Awards).
My son is the rock fan in the family. I'm the classical music guy (with certain exceptions, the most notable is Evanescence which I think is something uniquely special in the history of rock music which I have been following on and off since 1964). He said that Evanescence is a great group. He doesn't dish out praise easily.
I enjoyed this concert and am completely glad I went; although, I think Evanescence's forte is in the studio, where they can get the right mix of chorus, strings, etc. I'm glad they will be ending this tour soon and can focus on their next release.
Sorry for the rambling. It has been a long week and I'm tired, but happy and satisfied, too. I haven’t been to a rock concert since I saw Heart in the 1980’s (I used to be a big fan of Ann and Nancy Wilson), and in fact haven’t been to that many rock concerts in my lifetime. The only other ones that I can remember off hand are Steely Dan and Gentle Giant (the Gentle Giant concert truly incredible). It was fun being part of a large live crowd cheering a talent who is already huge at age 22, and will most likely go on to many, many years of amazing writing and performance.
Best regards,
George

Holy crap... That show was incredible. I saw them last summer and they blew themselves away this time. Wow. And they definately did not play Zero. Which was wierd because I met the band before the show, at the meet and great... I was wearing my Zero shirt. Amy actually made a comment to me about being a pumpkins fan, and said not to worry they'd be covering them tonight. So obviously they where planning on it but they never did. But it was freaking awsome. The energy the band has on stage is amazing, especially for a band that hasn't had much of a break from touring in over a year! That was the first time I had herd evanescence cover thoughtless, and wow that is one awsome rendition of that song. Anyone have a copy of it or know where I could download it? But anyway that concert was definately an 11 out of 10.

my 2 cents:
Breaking Benjamin: would have been great..if they had been mixed properly. I bought their cd for 9 bucks...I would expect to see this band headlining in the not too distant future.
3 days grace: Not a fan of their music so I cant give a real objective review, so I wont, except to say they were true to the cd, didnt really change anything up.
seether: very good. pat had his appendix removed so they had the guitarist come in for him, and Will also played on a song..dont remember which one..2 days have passed cant remember it all. I swear shaun must be taking singing lessons, he sounded better to me than on the record. Lots of energy and lots of fun to watch and listen.
evanescence: Im really really impressed with which they can keep up with 2 years of touring the way they can. First time I had seen a real piano used. Impressive piano work from Amy. Highlight of the night for me was breathe no more with amy playing piano and john playing guitar. Cool little piano intro into BMTL as well. Very impressed with the way Amy can still sing as well, if not better than the last time I saw them. Also loved how HEAVY THEY WERE! Loved that aspect too. Makes me very curious about their future.
Only thing I was bummed about was the merchandise. I really really wanted one of those cool Seether tee's with the phrases on them, but didnt have any.
But all in all the best concert Ive been to. Had a blast.

What a weekend that I will never forget.
First I asked for the day off from work. Then my friend came over at 12:30 to get ready for the concert. We left at 1:30 to pick up the tickets from the radio station. It took us three hours to get to there because there were two accidents and the exit was closed, we had to go around it. Even worst, I wrote down the wrong address for the radio station. We finally got the tickets and made it to the Woodlands at 5:00. We stopped by Circuit City so my friend could buy the Evanescence cd (I got her hooked). When we got to the Cynthia Woodland Mitchell Pavillion, the gates weren't opened yet. They finally let us in 30 minutes later. We got pretty good reserve seats. But we did not sit down at all. The first band, Breaking Benjamin was good. My friend wants to get their cd next. Next was 3 days grace. They were not that good. Then Seether, they sounded great live. And Amy came out to sing Broken with them. It took about 20 minutes to prepare the stage for Evanescence., but it was worth it. There were people of all ages, from middle school to grandmothers. I thought the grandparents brought their grandchildren but the grandmother was dancing to Bring Me To Life. The concert ended at 11:00 pm. I can't believe the merchandise was so expensive. $50 for a band tshirt? Outside the gate, there were bootleg tshirts for $10. After the concert, we went to get something to eat. Then we went to a blue/jazz club to meet some friends. However there was no parking left in front, I ended up parking at Starbuck's and walked over. Bad idea, because as we were walking out, a tow truck was leaving the parking lot with my car. Both of us started chasing the tow truck but he wouldn't stop. We wanted to know where he was taking my car, so we had to call the number on the 'No Parking' sign to find out where it was. Luckily our friends took us to find the tow lot. It took us an hour to find it. And cost $160 to get my car out of the impound. Finally got home at 3:30 am .What a unforgettable night.

You're lucky you got to go. I wanted to but who stopped me? My mom. I loved the BMTL rap included on the dvd from Houston/the Woodlands. I still wish I could have gone. And they had a meet and great!? *grumbles* Parents can be so mean sometimes...... Maybe during the next tour if Ev. comes back here to Houston, I can buy the ticket myself and drive there. i'm really sorry for the people who didn't get to go. i concider myself really lucky for being able to go. i just have a quick question for the people who went. was 3 days grace drunk and/or high? was it just me or did they keep on saying that they were 2 days grace? i don't know, i just started think about that the other day.

I live in Houston, Texas and that's where Shaun and Beth did the whole BMTL thing backstage where it sounded....interesting....lol. (I could tell AMy didn't like it too much, but it was funny) No problem. Maybe next tour I'll get a chance to go. I hope you had tons of fun. :)
