i know we have a Danica thread, but i thought we could start one to talk about racing in general.

well, i started on Nascar about 8 years ago, but i follow other sports too. i'm a big Jeff Gordon fan and i'm a bit depressed today cuz he finished 25th. i follow the IRL, some F1, a little drag racing. i know everyone has been introduced to Danica, but there is another female by the name of Katherine Legge. she is getting a lot of attention because unlike Danica she has won two races. her most recent one in the last day or so. it's in a lower series, but the same one that Danica once raced in.

I've been watching Nascar ever since I was a little girl. Hell I could take that back to watching Nascar in the womb :) Before I just chanted for who my family rooted for. Which was Ricky Rudd. But I would say for the past 3 or so years my driver would be Dale Jr. All the way!!

The race this past Sunday, my heart went out to Jeff Gordon. I am not a big fan of his but no one deserves the kinda race streak he has been going through. My jaw dropped when I saw his last pit stop. Then with what 10 or so laps to go his brakes went. BUT on another note. It looks like my boy is starting to realize 'hey we need to do something.' A top 10 is ok in my book. :)

Congrads to Tony Stewart too. I was excited to see him win.

i know, you guys have done great the last couple of weeks. i'm heart broken over yesterday. the good thing though is he at least ran well, last week he ran like crap and then got punted by Bliss

did you hear what Biffle said on Nascar Victory Lane about jeff and suicide watch?

I love auto racing not only do I race as a amateur but also watch it on TV. I really don't care for Nascar and circle tracking, but F1, ALMS, CART, Grand Am, Speed World challenge, Ect.. Usually always tape or watch live or go to the races. Most people probably wouldn't recognize those series since they are road race cars

Kathrine legge is a great race car driver but because she hasn't sold her self as a sex symbol could hurt her chances getting a good ride. When Danica was in the same series there were only about 6 cars and really no competition with many of the other competitors having older cars, she of course had the top of line equipment. She barely made it in that series and here we have Legge with bigger fields better competition and not the best equipment but then again not the worst equipment. She is the type of person that would be respected in a paddock.

i don't watch too much road racing. i don't watch too much CART since they lost a lot of the drivers to IRL. one driver though that i haven't heard from too much from lately, but that i've always liked is Jimmy Vasser.

No I didn't get a chance to watch Nascar Victory Lane.
What did he say?!?!

I could never get into nascar but I do like CART and IRL. I sometimes watch F-1 when it's on but I don't go out of my way to see their races. My favorite CART driver is A.J. Allmendinger. As for IRL, I usually root (sp?) for Danica Patrick. I really like to see her do well.

I love nascar I think it's so much fun to watch even though all you watch is guys turning left and going in circles but anyways I've been watching it since I could remember which is probably when I was little. I was always the biggest Dale Earnhardt fan before he died. Now, I'm a Dale JR. fan along with Elliot Sadler. Those are my two favorite racers. I try to watch the race every Sunday but sometimes I don't get around to it. Not to long ago they were in Joliet. I'm not sure how long ago it was. I wanted to go but I couldn't. I've always wanted to go to the race but I never have gotten the chance to go yet. Someday I will.

What did he say?!?!

well he was saying in a few interviews how he felt so bad for Jeff, which i think he was sincere, he just said something like he should be on suicide watch after his run. kind of an odd comment. i just think he was trying to describe how down jeff has to be over sunday and the last 2 or so months.

offtopic here, but do you watch Inside Nextel Cup on the Speed channel? i watch it and they're getting rid of host Alan Bestwick. it doesn't make sense at all. he's been on there for so long.

He is on the Cart PKV racing team, he has been very low key ever since he left Ganassai and was overshadowed by Montoya and Zarnardi. I think he is a great driver but wonder how much fight he has left in him.

BTW A.J. is probably the next best US driver close second to Scott Speed who will race in F1 next year. I think 3rd would come Tony Stewart the best drivers are those who can jump into any car and be competitive.

Speed performance in the GP2 Championship has been great his in 3rd only a matter time before he gets his first win. Not to mention his championship last year in the formula Renualt. Seeing that he has tested and became the 3rd test driver for Team red bull its only a matter of time, it might be possible this year depending on Kliens performance.

I don't think F1 will ever be back on the map. Nascar is on top for a reason because its the WWE of racing. Its pure entertainment with a dash of racing every now and then. Its a marketing machine. American going to F1 is nice but as it stand right now most people haven't heard of him or know how good of a race car driver he is. I think it benfits the true fans who would love to hear the American Anthem on the podium ceremonies.

i just got home and heard the Katherine won her 3rd race this season. that's amazing. i'll admit, i don't follow Toyota Altantics too much, but its crazy how well she has been doing. i know Cart is just dying to bring her up.

so, Rubens is out at the end of the year and Felipe Massa is in Rubens ride for 06. its interesting, some think that Massa may be holding the seat for someone else like maybe Kimi Raikonnen. i'd like to see Kimi in the seat.

For the past couple years they have been talking about how great Massa is and how he is the next Shumacher, and I don't see it happen. He has a team that is built around him. Rubens is a better driver and i hope he gets the BAR ride. I don't know what Kimi is going to do. More importantly what is Button going to do? Williams doesn't have a engine as of yet

i know there's only about 3 people who read this thread, and what i'm going to post about is nascar related, but it's interesting. everyone knows Jimmie Johnson is leading the points and Jeff Gordon is 15th. today in qualifying, Jimmie failed inspection, couldn't qualify the car while Jeff qualified 7th. only those interested in nascar may see the fishyness...

So, is anybody watching the chase? My husband is a huge Jimmie Johnson fan so at this point we are just keeping our fingers crossed that he will hold on to the lead. I have really tried to despise Nascar but it is slowly sucking me in.

I absolutely LOVE watching auto racing!!!!
Its one of the biggest thrills, and what a freaking rush!!!!
I have been to three live shows, and it just totally blew me
away, it almost feels like your on the track, if you really think
about it. :p
I would love to go see another one, if it would only come to Edmonton!
The three I saw, was not here, but OMFG, I had the time of my life!!
There is nothing better then that!!!!

Anybody else here watching the chase? My boy Jimmie is 183 points in the lead with 3 races to go. I am hoping we can clinch things in Texas tomorrow. Just one step closer to a back-to-back 3 year win of the championship.
