How many of you heard of this band???? Are they good or bad?

I've heard one song....as I vaguely remember, I liked it.

They have two CDs out: Sounding the Seventh Trumpet and Waking the fallen.

One of the songs from the new disc plays on the web page www.avengedsevenfold.com it's a good song. There's also songs from both CDs availiable for download.
:D

How many times now, have I seen a thread on this board, and gone "Hey! I know them from either Madden or NHL 200X" ? It's pretty cool.

In this case, I know "Chapter Four" because it's on Madden 2004. Great great song... whether I'll like other ones by them as much as it, I don't know... BUT, I for sure should check out a couple more songs by them.

Sounding the Seventh Trumpet is a great cd, however the new cd isnt quite as good. Overall they are a great band. Check them out. Especially the old stuff. Download "Second Heatbeat" and "Darkness Surrounding"

Bumping because I'm increasingly liking this band more and more... although I've only heard three songs (all from the new CD). I gotta check out some of the older stuff and then try to find a CD or two of theirs.

I never heard one of their songs, at least not to my knowledge, the name Avenged Sevenfold is pretty badass. It makes me think they're actual music will be a let down. It's not by any chance, kung-fu themed is it? It should be.

Heh, I totally missed this thread when I used the default search, which sucks.

Anyways, I picked up "Waking The Fallen" earlier today, and I must say it definately kicks ass. "Chapter Four" is definately my fav, though, all the songs are incredible. I'm seriously thinking about getting the first cd, if I can find it that is. I ended up going to three stores before I eventually found "Waking The Fallen", so something tells me the first one might be a bit harder to find. :(

By the way, also check out Atreyu. If you like Avenged Sevenfold, you might like them.

Do you have A&B Sound anywhere near there? I saw Sounding the Seventh Trumpet and Waking the Fallen there... I'll probably buy the former at some point in the semi-near future, once I have a bit more money to throw around.

That's actually where I got "Waking The Fallen" but oddly enough, I didn't see "Sounding The Seventh Trumpet". :? I'm thinking I'll probably wait until after Christmas, and go looking for it. Plus, I need to save some money, what since I've been buying cds like crazy....LOL. 8)

Awesome band, I saw them a little while ago in concert with Mushroomhead and I must say I was not disappointed at all. They put on a very good show and are very talented. I was actually about to post about this band but luckily I searched first.

Avenged Sevenfold are brilliant, I have their album Waking the Fallen. I actually love every song on the album they are great band, aparently Kerrang say that they will become a really popular and good band. I heard them November last year and have been a fan ever since.

Sounding The Seventh Trumpet is still my favourite album by them, but I should note that I haven't actually heard Chapter Four yet...

I just love Darkness Surrounding and Warmness on the Soul (because it's ultra cheezy like me) and it's got the saddest video ever, which of course makes it cool.

Anyone looking for some good ol metal here ya be. Gates is one hell of a lead guitarist and a pianist. Check out I won't See you Tonight parts 1 and 2(totally 14 mins ). The piano intro and then the rest of the band kicks in, I mean badass, the lead on this album is so damn incredible. as well as the rest of the band. Waking the Fallen is better than Sounding the Seventh Trumpet(sp?) but STST is still a good cd.

I love this band, not that you could tell from my avatar and sig... :p
Anyways, I first heard them about 6 months ago, which is quite early for a UK fan. I could not put one album before the other, as I always find something to balance out whatever argument I come up with for on eover the other! I actually only bought my 'Prophets ticket to see A7X, and I spent nearly all of the 'Prophets set talking to The Rev (Avenged drummer for those that don't know), so I had fun!
And for the person who asked on the first page, the name comes from the biblical story of Cain and Abel - "and he who kills Cain shall be avenged sevenfold" (something along those lines, I'm not a Christian), the story that "Chapter Four" is based on.
Please everyone, download the "unholy confessions" video off their official site, OFFICIAL SITE (http://www.avengedsevenfold.com), and show all of your friends!!
And yes, I am on the street team :p

I'm glad I'm not the only one that knows how they got the name, and you don't need to be christian, it's in the old testament so if you're jewish, you can also find it in Genesis 4.

Anyway, I love Avenged Sevenfold. My favorite song is probably Reminissions(sp?) and I need to save up money to buy STST. I really want that cd. I love Johnny Christ(the bassist) He's got a really nice bass line on I Won't See You Tonight Pt. 1.

Yes, I found someone that got into them through HBB!!! We've been on a search on the board for you!! Please, join the avenged sevenfold board, you'll get a warm welcome, i'll make sure of it!
And to lpfreek, STST is definitely worth the money. Just remember that it's a different bassist, and it's before Synyster Gates joined the band. They're all so young on that album....*gushes with pride*
I LOVE THIS BAND!!1

Rocker3829
05-09-2004, 03:23 PM
yea but Synester brought the band to another level, his skill and talent are incredible, one of the best lead guitarists out today and can play piano too, now that rates pretty high on my list because thats what i wanna accomplish someday and be good at both.

Syn definitely added something to the band. Plus, it's been four years since STST, and they've toured almost non-stop for those four years, so they've matured a lot. I love some of the old stuff as much as the new, but some of it I'm not as fond of.

Dude...bumping this because this band rocks and people need to hear their music. Think of Metallica style solos, heavy/dark metal/rock, growling vocals, awesome drumming (super duper heavy)...this is them. Big time progressive 80s metal influence...the drummer and lead guitarist are absolutely awesome.

I would recommend highly Waking the Fallen...there's a mix of fast heavy metal, and there are some piano ballad/rock songs on there too...Like "I Won't See You Tonight". Coming from a big fan of dark heavy music...this is by far the best band I have come across lately. Very catchy riffs...the darkness of drop-D tuning...go to the website they have. www.avengedsevenfold.com for more info....If you claim to love heavy dark music...you owe it to yourself to check them out!

OMG. I luv this band! It's right under Ev on my list of favs! I luv their new cd, Waking the Fallen. Funny, 2 of my most fav albums have the word "fallen" in it...anyway, i think they're pretty good. I find the guitarist Zacky, very hott! hehe. I luv playing their songs on guitar, it's really fun! Come to think of it, Fallen and Waking the Fallen are my 2 most fav cds in which I luv eVeRy song on it...It would be cool if A7X opened for Ev someday...

Wicket, 'darkness surrounds' is from their first album, "Sounding the seventh trumpet'. I love that CD to pieces, but WAking the fallen is ever so slightly better. The standard of the guitar on it is just that little bit better, that's what Syn brings to the band.
All of you, get your asses on the A7X board, just be warned, there's some people who don't like n00bs. I will, of course, stick up for any Ev fans that join....

A7X are my favourite band. Those guys are awesome and if you haven't heard them, you need to get your hands on "Turn The Other Way". It has the best drumming at the beginning, it's damn good! Both albums (Sounding the Seventh Trumpet and Waking The Fallen) are really good. Oh and penguin, it's "darkness surrounding". :) And yes awesome song.

personally i'm starting to believe that unholy is uber over rated. in fact, although the entire Waking the Fallen album is amazingly crafted and brilliantly put together, some of the songs do begin to lose their charm after a while. i absolutely love the band though. the street team meet and greet that i went to before the manchester show was amazing, me and zacky were talking about music for 20 minutes, and syn named my penguin teddy :D

Yeah, so I was just skimming through this thread, and I honestly thought I had posted my review about their performance at the Warped Tour.

Anyways, yeah, they definately kicked ass, and were the best band I thought at the Warped Tour. Atreyu was tied with them but if I had to pick one band, I'd go with Avenged Sevenfold. It was my first time seeing them live, and I wasn't disappointed at all. They opened with "The Beast & The Harlot", and they also played "Bat Country", "Chapter Four", "Unholy Confessions", and I'm pretty sure one more song. I thought they were so awesome, that I'm going to see them again on November 22nd.

As for the new cd, "City Of Evil", I honestly think I like it a bit more than "Waking The Fallen". My fav songs are "Bat Country", "The Beast & The Harlot", "Burn It Down", "The Wicked End", "Trashed & Scattered", and "Betrayed". It's one kick ass cd, and I definately recommened checking it out if you haven't yet. I can't wait until November 22nd now.

So I saw Avenged Sevenfold last night for the second time, and they definately kicked ass! I was in the front, on the left hand side of the stage and surprisingly, I wasn't getting pushed up against the barricade too much. I took quite a few pictures of them, so I'm hoping they all turn out. Here's the setlist that I can remember:

Second Heartbeat
Beast & The Harlot
Burn It Down
Chapter Four
The Wicked End
Eternal Rest
M.I.A.
Unholy Confessions
Bat Country

I'm pretty sure that's all they played, but I could have one or two songs in the wrong order, mainly "Second Heartbeat" and "Unholy Confessions". At any rate, it was awesome. Syn had a one minute guitar solo, which was totally awesome.

Apparently, Bat Country made it to #1 on TRL at the end of last week...that's quite the distinction for a metal band...considering Kelly Clarkson, Kanye, and Gwen Stefani practically own those kids' souls.

I haven't really listened to the new album but it's my understanding that that the lead singer does not scream at all on it. On the other 2 albums there is a lot of screamage. (it's awesome)

I have their new cd City of Evil. I love the song unholy confessions although it's on the Waking the fallen cd, and I don't own that cd. I really like this band, my 3rd favourite, I like their latest album City of Evil, they made it when they were only 21 and 22yrs old and already their making wicked songs like Beast and the Harlot and Bat Country, I also like Unholy Confessions from the 2003's Waking the fallen, I'm getting it this Saturday (that's if I can find the album), Good cover as well.

I know they'll stay on and make more headbanging albums, they better make lots of songs just for 1 album like 15-18 songs on it and make them long like they always do. Avenged Sevenfold better keep this up!!!!:D:D:D

The reason his voice sounds different in the new album is because he had some kind of throat sugary. That’s also why he can’t scream.
