I saw her in concert last night (yes I'm a fan) and it was good. She did (for the first time in front of an audiance) her Metallica song, which is Fuel. I thought it wasn't bad! I love that song and they did a pretty decent job w/ it.
Also, I was kind of wondering how she was going to sound live cuz I have heard a few people say she sounds bad, but I think she sounded good!
Ok, that's all for now =)

I don't like Avril Lavigne for many reasons. She got her ticket to the top because she danced and sang in bunny slippers on a home movie and sounded "horribly real." She hates being classified by voiced herself as a punk every chance she gets. She hates "phonies" like Brittney and Christina, yet she has someone co-write all her songs and doesn't really play the guitar. But most of all... because she wants to be a role model, yet she dropped out of high school for a chance at maybe making it in pop music.

But for all my words, this site (http://www.recroommagazine.com/articles/avril.htm) sums up all of my thoughts perfectly.

Glad you had a good time, though.

My god her nose is pointy...

But she does have talent - except when she's trying to rock out while singing and she does this little thing with her arms up to her chest that makes her look a little retarted. But she's cool.

hehe ^^ I go see Avril next weekend and most people say she's really good. Did they let you take pictures at the show?

Just to note alex, most of the reasons you dislike her are not necessarily the truths now.

Just to note alex, most of the reasons you dislike her are not necessarily the truths now.

Not the truth now, meaning she changed herself yet again, adding to her false image.

Charity
05-01-2003, 10:15 PM
Well mostly the things she did before was immature, so she's maturing. I don't see how a person maturing adds to a false image, people change their ideas and views all the time. Especially at 18.. its a crucial age for finalizing your views on the world. Not to mention she's a celeb, so once she said it once it was all over the place.

I really like Avril as well. I got the CD for xmas and I really like it. I listened to it for about 2 weeks straight, and used it as sleep music, until I found Eva. My friends say that she is good, but they don't like her cause she is Canadian. I think that Canadian has nothing to do with it. I have been to Canada and found it quite pleasent and the people were really nice too. Isn't Avril supposed to be playing at the Metallica thing on MTV?

i have her cd.. i like some.. don't like some..
i relate to a few of her songs.. and that's the important thing about the music you like. i was once told by someone never to be ashamed of the music you enjoy.. and i took that to heart.

you may hate the artist.. but i've said it before, and i'm sure i'll say it again.. music is what you make it. it's what you want, and how you feel.

Haha! I know exactly what you mean. I thought she also looked like a little T-rex jumping across the stage.

I don't mind Avril. Some of her songs are good fun songs. She's an ok singer too. So I like her musical side. I just can't stand her personality. She tries too hard to act like a badass and be "punk" but in reality she grew up listening to country music. I read an article once when she said that she like to listen to hard bands like the Googoo Dolls and Matchbox 20. And that her band mates tried to introduce her to heavier music. If she needs people to educate her about music then how "punk" is she really? I also read somewhere that she said she's the Sid Vicious of our generation. Oh please

I'm not afraid to admit that I bought Avril's CD. She's a decent singer, her songs are catchy, and she lookes like a very pretty Pokemon.
Btw, Petrucchic (if you even read this age-old thread again), was the show you went to before or after that Metallica Icon event? I noticed the guitarist was having quite some trouble playing that solo when they did it on MTVIcon.

I guess cause someone was making one but a mod told them about this one.

Anyway about I Avril I love her music. I don't care what her image is. I don't listen to band's cause they have that Goth look or Punk look thats just all bullshit in my opinion.

I read the article and it seemed pretty good. But I just have one thing to say about that writer. She really does have panties in a bunch doesn't she?

Agreed! I had no idea people were so obsessed with the businesses of celebrities till January when I became a big Avril fan. And I never stereotype, so it just amazed me at how many people talked about how Avril wasn't punk and therefore sucked. I was like geez, I just got her CD and fell in love with it... what's everyone's problem?

Anyway, I am still a big Avril fan. She's my favorite singer. I have the video of her Fuel performance. I hate that song... I hate heavy metal. But it was still fun to watch. :P

I'm just bumping to respond to this post. I'm an Avril fan myself, and I thought that article was a whole waste of time. All she could have said was "her company made her say all that crap." And it's true, they did, they wanted her to get noticed, and she did. Hell I would do it to get my music recognized. But that still doesn't mean she's not a qualified artist. She was pretty good live last time I saw her, her CD is great too, and she's also a lot less fake then she used to be.

Not that anyone cares, I just felt like sharing my thoughts.

"MTV: How does it feel to write songs on your own terms?

Lavigne: I've always been able to write songs on my own. Did any of them go on my first record? No. I had about 30 songs recorded for my first record and picked the best ones for that album. I actually never recorded any of the songs that I've written on my own. But this time around I will. And that's gonna probably be one of the most amazing feelings. I will be very proud of myself.

The [new songs are] very me and so I'm looking forward to the next record and touring off of it. I wonder how people are gonna take it. I don't think it'll be as poppy as Let Go. But it'll be more rock. And like more intimate lyrics, like more my kind of lyrics. Personal, really deep or whatever. "

I can't wait for her next album...

I haved mixed feelings about avril. Sometimes I like the music, other times it bores me. If I want something more along the lines of something to chill to, then avril is pretty good. Otherwise I tend not to listen.

There are two new songs that have been slowly filtering through the internet that will probably make an appearance on her new album. . . They are called Daydream and Don't Tell Me. Daydream is the better of the two, but they're both fucking awesome.

I defend Avril. She's Canadian, and Ben is working with her, so more power to her.

I love that Dylan cover she did... Knockin' On Heaven's Door. My brother got that CD/DVD for Christmas, and I watched the video of that. Great cover, and I'd have to say Avril's best work. Other stuff I like is I'm With You, Why, and Two Rivers. It's some great stuff.

Uh, Metallica asked her to perform the song, and they actually liked it, so there.

And she doesn't have to announce "Oh I'm not in that punk phase anymore," she's already long grown out of it, WAAAAAY back last year in fact.

However, if there is one song that I've heard other than Sk8r Boi that I can't stand is the cover that she did of Chop Suey :x

This is not flaming, this is a simple opinion. The opinion is that whether fooling around or not, it was bad.

People always bring up that Chop Suey cover, even though it really was never meant to be a cover at all. . . she was just playing around with her band. It's not like she was seriously covering it.

That's me. I liked her way before Let Go was released and she got big. I took my boys to London Astoria to see her in Sept 2002 and it was great - then again in Birmingham in March 2003 - great again. I can testify she performs very well live - the music doesn't overpower her voice, and she's pretty much in key. She has fun, the musics good and everyone has a good time - what more is there to it, really?

Her new single is called "Don't Tell Me" and is likely to be in the top 40 of the country in a couple of days.

There were two songs that were leaked before the single was released, one of them an early version of Don't Tell Me and another song called Daydream.

She depends on the catchy hook/choruses rather than the rest of the song. That's actually what's made her so popular.

According to an MTV article, Ben Moody has only one song on Avril's new album "Under My Skin" called "Nobody's Here".

But the collaborator with the most star power was former Evanescence guitarist Ben Moody (see "So Where's Evanescence's Ben Moody? Ask Avril Lavigne").

The pair penned several songs together, though only "Nobody's Here" made the cut for the album. Another tune not directly inspired by personal events, "Nobody's Here" is about a girl plagued with problems who just wants things to return to normal. A collaboration with the guitarist behind the toothy riffs of songs like "Going Under" and "Bring Me to Life" might suggest "Nobody's Here" will sound like an Evanescence song with Avril, not Amy Lee, on vocals. To that, Lavigne has a simple response.

"Uhhh ... no.

"It's actually an acoustic song with strings," she added.

I think it also helps that she is not a great vocalist. I know this sounds crazy but think about it. She is not so bad that it is painful to listen to, but not so good that you feel intimidated by singing along. You feel like you have the right to sing along with the song, then the damn thing gets caught in your head, then you go buy the friggin' album.

Good to know I am not alone in that thinking. I was afraid someone would jump me for saying such, but I am not really dissing her. She was good enough to "make it" so good for her, but I think Simon Cowell would send her packing if she were on "The Idol."

Great point. I never thought of comparing her to Britney, but now that I think of it, they are exactly the same. They just have different selling points. Britney apeals to adolecent males and old perv men, whereas Avril appeals to people who want to maintain a "Punk" exterior, whilest being very bubble-gummy at heart.

You know who I would like to see on "The Idol?" Ashanti.
Simon: That was just horrible! Saying "Oh Baby" 976 times does not constitute singing well. You would be better served to use your voice on a phone sex hotline.

Oh if that twer, twood be...twerrific.

I wanted to repost this information for those intersted in the Ben/Avril collab.

I don't think anyone was really "on" her. The point that was being made was her marketability. It was said that she was not a great vocalist, which is not really a flame. I mean Bob Dillon was an awful vocalist, but he sure seems to have done well for himself, because he has awesome lyrics. There is a difference between pointing out someone's weakness and "dissing" them. I think her strengths were also pointed out, in that she exudes her image, and sells it well. There is something to be said for that. Again, no one "dissed" her, it was a discussion of marketing.

There are more songs out now than just 'Daydream' and 'Don't Tell Me' which are 'poppy'. If you listen to 'Take Me Away' it has more of a rock edge. Then there is the song she wrote with Ben, 'Nobody's Home' which is a sad and beautiful song. Then there is also 'He Wasn't' and 'My Happy Ending' which are also good in their right. You can go to avrilbandaids.com to find all these songs in audio. The last three are live and I know its been said that Avril can't sing live, but I don't think her vocals are that bad in the recordings. With these songs she seems to have grown as a lyricist, guitar player, and singer. I don't know. Make you own decision.

Just had to post the lyrics to 'Nobody's Home'. That song and 'Take Me Away' are my new favs. But anyway:

Nobody's Home

You've been rejected, and now you can't find what you left behind.
Be strong, be strong now.
Too many, too many problems.
For where she belongs, where she belongs.
She wants to go home, but nobody's home.
It's where she lies, broken inside.
With no place to go, no place to go to dry her eyes.
Broken inside.

Her feelings she hides.
Her dreams she can't find.
She's losing her mind.
She's fallen behind.
She can't find her place.
She's losing her *idk*
She's fallen from grace.
She's all over the place.

She wants to go home, and nobody's home.
Where she lies, broken inside.
There's no place to go, no place to go to dry her eyes.
Broken inside.

She's locked inside, locked inside...oh oh.
She's locked inside, locked inside...oh oh yeah.

On first listen Daydream and Take Me Away sounded like they'd be Ben Moody songs, but there's only one :( and neither of those are his. If I had to put the first 3 songs that I've listened to on this new album against the first three songs I heard on Avril's, I'd pick the new one. It definitely sounds better...and a HELL of a lot better than Sk8r Boi.

Not much of an Avril fan, but I just heard "My Happy Ending" in some e-card, and I think it's a pretty good song, actually. I like Avril. Her music isn't earth shattering, but it's better than 99% of the crap on the radio nowadays. I first saw the video for "Complicated" a looong time ago, before there was even an album credit on the title card. I believe she could grow into a truly talented artist if she is given time and proper support from her label. I think the reason she receives so much flak is simply because it makes you "cool" to dislike her. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing her collaborations with Ben Moody, if they're picked up for her new disc.

Plus, she's really cute :o

On her being Rock, it would depend on your definition of what Rock is. I've been sad as hell lately. My favorite Rock station, went the way of the dodo bird and changed into a easy listening station. A lot of Rock stations are going the way of the dodo here where I live in favor of the Rap/Pop stuff. I can tell you how rare it is to hear a female rock artist on a rock station, so I cheered when I heard Poe, Garbage, or Evy. It was just amazing, when they're the rare gals amongst a whole lot of male artists.
Do I like Avril? No, and I won't flame her. I don't necessarily like her additude, or quite get the fan following, but if she can really become a rock artist(don't take this the wrong way, but I don't consider her Rock, and yes, I have heard her first album) instead of the pop genre she's usually put in, good for her.

Avril has indeed grown so much, She is just soo pretty to me too! :p

She sings very well although her Canadian accent slips through alot, but that's not a bad thing. ;)

I don't see where all this "poser" non-sense comes from, I mean she helps write her music, plays her instrument, and sings really good. Where's the poser in that? I mean if she's called that because she dresses "punk" yet her music is pop/rock, Then people who base their view of artist's music talent on what they where, need a serious head check. She get's hit with alot of unnecessary hate from the public.

Go Avril, keep rockin!

Whatever you may think of Avril Lavigne, one thing is certain: She has captured some catchy songs on her sophomore set. The Canadian artist co-wrote the album's 12 tunes, revealing a somewhat darker and more mature sound. If her 2002 debut, "Let Go," was for day, consider "Under My Skin" for night. Lending a hand this time around are producers Butch Walker of the Marvelous 3, Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace and Don Gilmore (Linkin Park, Pearl Jam). The end result is a one-two punch of radio-ready, rock-tinged riffs and Lavigne's signature defiant yet introspective vocals. Now 19, the singer's lyrics reflect the universal chaos of being a teenager. Known for her tomboyish "girls kick ass" sensibility, Lavigne appears to be following in the footsteps of Alanis Morissette. Except there is no rug involved, only skin.—KK

Under My Skin (Arista/RCA) [three stars]

What do you do when your debut album, released when you were just 17, changes the face of pop music?

You ditch your collaborators, of course. Canadian sensation Avril Lavigne is working with songwriting team the Matrix no more, preferring instead a range of collaborators from Ben Moody (ex-Evanescence) to singer/songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk. It’s a move which sees the more “mature” Avril (there’s no Skater Bois here) sounding exactly that: more mature.

There’s a depth here (Avril Lavigne? Depth?) that was missing on her 2002 debut, Let Go. She’s still a punk brat (see He Wasn’t), but she’s calming down as she discusses loving and losing for the first time.

The least interesting excursions here are the Evanescence-lite of Take Me Away and Together – and Amy Lee she is not. But when she enters the more contemplative, less hard pop/rock tracks (Don’t Tell Me, My Happy Ending), Avril is making a bid for longevity.

Article from Canoe JamMusic!:

"UNDER MY SKIN
Avril Lavigne
(Arista/BMG)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kids. They grow up so fast -- even rock-star kids.

Last time we heard from Avril Lavigne, she was a teen tomboy, jumping around in ties and tanks while singing crunchy bubblegum rock about sk8er bois, complicated posers and junior high crushes. But now, that's all, like, so yesterday.

Avril was barely old enough to drive when she wrote her first album, Let Go, which sold a whopping 14 million copies. Today she's almost 20. And while she may not be a woman yet, she's no little girl anymore. She's been around the block. She's had her heart broken. She's figured out a few things. And like anyone her age, it's all made her a little smarter, a little sadder, a little more mature and independent.

That subtle but significant growth is clearly visible on her sophomore album Under My Skin, in stores Tuesday. Granted, on the surface, there isn't a radical difference between her first CD and these dozen cuts, most of which were co-penned with Winnipeg singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk or her hubby, Our Lady Peace frontman Raine Maida.

Avril still specializes in radio-ready pop-rockers and girl-power ballads. She still juices her pop hooks and melodies with metallic guitars and arena-rock rhythms. And she still writes about boys she wants who don't want her any more, or vice versa.

But as reflected in Avril's vaguely gothy new look, these tunes are a shade darker and starker. Chantal's influence is easy to hear in the rich keyboards, moody melodies and contemplative grooves that underpin cuts like Together, Forgotten and the poignant Slipped Away, about the death of Avril's grandfather.

Lyrically, Lavigne's viewpoint is more cynical, if tempered by the contradictions of teenage personality. Sometimes -- like on the romantic rock of Fall to Pieces -- she's the girl who just wants to "cry in front of you." And sometimes -- like on the boys-suck pop-punk of He Wasn't -- she's the ticked-off chick who spends the weekend sitting "on the bed alone / staring at the phone."

But more often -- like on the anthemic Don't Tell Me -- she's the young woman who knows she's "better off alone anyway" than giving it up to a jerk who just wants to get in her pants.

Parents ought to love that. And why not? In today's submissive prosti-tot pop world, a teen role model who keeps her clothes on -- or even bothers to wear any in the first place -- is a refreshing change.

So sure, Avril may be growing up. And she still has a long way to go. But it Under My Skin is any indication, she'll probably be OK.

Haha, those two sound nothing like Evanescence in the least. It's funny they'd even start comparing the two, aside from the obvious Ben influences. Crazy reviewers.

I got Under My Skin for Christmas and I must say I like many parts of it. She's better than I gave her credit for. I especially like "Nobody's Home" and "Take Me Away." And a lot of Canadian musicians rock. However, IMHO, Rush > all Canadian rock bands, lol.

I have a friend who LOVES Avril..... I was in Claires at the mall the other day and saw the vid for "My Happy Ending" on the TV that plays music videos.... (I saw the MI vid there a while ago....) Aaaaanyway, this friend of mine thinks I'm a terrible singer, and I was singing along and thinking, "She'd strangle me if she knew I was singing along to Avril...." Ah well, she wasn't there.

A lot of people dont like her and call her a poser, but I still like her. She actually admitted it on tv one time that she was a "poser", i dont remember what exactly it was, it was something on mtv I think. She said she just likes to wear that kind of clothes. I dont think shes that good of a singer, but I like the overall way her songs sound.

LMAO.. I burned the Under My Skin CD from a friend to another friend so I had the songs on my computer. Neither one of those sound anything like Ev.

Avril Lavigne will be releasing a Dual-Disc of Under My Skin on February 8th.

I'm assuming that February 8th is going to be coined as "Dual-Disc Day" because other artists releasing Dual-Discs will include:

AC/DC, Destiny's Child, Five for Fighting, Incubus, Los Lonely Boys, John Mayer, Switchfoot, Train, Usher, and Velvet Revolver.

Ggrrr..I hate when artists re-release CDs with extras. I've had the mp3s from Under My Skin from my friend's copy for a while and just recently bought the CD (still packaged)...Depending on what's included, maybe I'll return this one and wait for the dual-disc. hmm

What exactly is a dual-disc? I'm kind of lost on that one.

Dual Disc is a new technology that features audio on one side and video on the other.

This re-release will likely feature a DVD on one side which will likely feature music videos, perhaps live performances and behind the scenes footage while having the CD on the other.

Simple Plan used this technology for "Still Not Getting Any..." and Nine Inch Nails used it for the rerelease of "Downward Spiral"

I like Avril, and sometimes I can't understand why people don't like her but I read more and more reasons why they don't and I still like her. She has a nice voice and I'm glad that she told her fans not to dress like her because even though it is flattering it's better to be yourself and not try to be like other people sometimes

So Avril is now engaged to the Sum 41 frontman.
Yeah, I was about to post this.

Avril's Fiance Boi

Avril Lavigne could be getting her happy ending after all.

The pop-punk princess is engaged to her longtime boyfriend and fellow rocker, Deryck Whibley of Sum 41, her Website confirmed Tuesday.

"Avril and Deryck are very excited and they want to thank all of their fans for their best wishes," said a posting on the site.

Whibley, 25, popped the question to Lavigne, 20, over the weekend while in Europe, according to Us Weekly, which first reported the engagement.

No word yet on when they plan to tie the knot. It will be the first marriage for both.

The betrothed musicians hail from the Canadian province of Ontario; they were friends before they began dating in early 2004 (when, coincidentally, Lavigne was no longer a minor).

In a May interview with Us Weekly, Lavigne said, "I hope to make a few more records, get married and have a couple of kids."

Although she and Whibley recently bought a house together in Los Angeles' tony Bel-Air neighborhood, she told the magazine she would prefer to raise her children in Canada. The "My Happy Endings" singer also has a home in Toronto.

Lavigne, who previously dated former bandmate Jessie Colburn, is preparing to launch a North American tour in support of her seven-times-platinum RCA release, Under My Skin. The amphitheater jaunt begins July 12 in Hamilton, Ontario.

Whibley, who has previously been romantically linked with Paris Hilton, and his multiplatinum-selling punk band are currently on the road in Europe in support of their latest, Chuck.

Has she recorded any albums after 'Under My Skin'?

I don't like her first album at all though I like her second album. Even though she stated in the past that she wrote the songs on her first album, I highly doubt it. I'm pretty sure that the label hired people to write the songs and Avril gave a little bit of input and then the label told her to claim they were her songs for the publicty. I think that after her success, her album felt they could let her do her own thing and her fans would still remain and that's why the second album reflects her more accurately than the first. I could be wrong, though.

I am SUCH a huge Avril fan. I've seen her live twice and she does an AMAZING live show...as anyone who's seen her will tell you, I'm sure. I think she sounds better live than on the CD. I love her music, but I have so much respect for her as a person as well: she doesn't care what others think of her, she does her own thing, she doesn't dress or dance around like a whore, she actually SINGS and never lyp-synches. As a singer, she's one of my role models (as well as Amy, of course.) I've always related a lot to her, and when UMS came out, every song echoed what I was going through at the time so closely it's scary. Her lyrics are so wonderful and emotional. She's an excellent artist.

That's awesome. I would like seriously faint if I saw any of my music idols. Avril is in that list.
offtopic* once I met Karl Malone of the Utah Jazz (now Lakers) when I was a HUGE basketball nut and I seriously almost fainted. Its like that one time in Little Rock when I saw someone who looked almost like Amy. Except when she took off the sunglasses it wasn't her. But my stomache turned upside down, because I was like OMG!

I do like *some* Avril songs...And yes, I have both of her cds :o

However, I do NOT like Avril as a person. She tries to be hardcore as in she's rude to her fans. She needs to remember that her fans are the ones who got her to where she is now. Bitching at her fans about not dressing like her was really childish to do. I mean, she's a pop star. Of course people are gonna dress like her! And getting mad because her fans giver her ties!?! WTF!?! She should be happy they actually like her. Geez, if I were Avril, I'd be thanking my fans all the time. *sigh* But she's another performer who's got the pop attitude.

And I've been noticing this, and maybe I'm the only one...But it seems like she tries to dress like Amy Lee just without the tie. You know, the arm warmers and such. Maybe I'm just looking way too much into it, I don't know. I've asked my husband what he thought about it, and he agrees that she looks like an Amy wannabe. Sorry Avril, but you ain't no Amy Lee :D
And in the words of Evanescence "Never was and never will be"...Heh, sorry I couldn't resist. ;)

A lot of news at once:

Lavigne to shoot movie with Gere

By KAREN BLISS -- For JAM! Music

Avril Lavigne will be in New Mexico at the end of the week to begin shooting a small role for her first foray into the acting world, a crime drama called "The Flock," starring Richard Gere and Claire Danes.

"I want to do this for a bit of a change," says Lavigne, now 21, and based in Los Angeles. "I want to start off small, see how I like it and make sure I'm comfortable."

She hasn't got an acting coach. "I'm just reading the script and acting out how I think it should be," she says.

In the independent film, Gere plays a federal agent investigating a paroled sex offender's connection to a missing girl. Lavigne will appear in scenes with the award-winning actor, who interestingly is also an accomplished pianist and composer.

"(Richard) plays a cop who is going to go interview this guy who is my boyfriend and he's asking me some questions about him," says the Napanee, ON native of her part.

The pretty blonde is also getting a makeover for the character. "I have a chipped tooth and glasses and all that stuff, so I had to get a mold of my mouth so they could fit a (fake) chipped tooth," she laughs.

Lavigne will still be recognizable in "The Flock," however, there's another role in which she won't -- unless you listen carefully.

Prior to the upcoming shoot, the multi-platinum-selling singer eased into the film world with a voiceover in the animated feature "Over The Hedge," due out May 19. In this Dreamworks adventure about some forest creatures, Lavigne plays Heather, a possum.

"William Shatner plays my dad in it and Bruce Willis and Gary Shandling are in it, so it's a cool cast," she says. "These animals are hibernating and they wake up and there's a hedge and we dare to cross it. We get over it and see the real world and it's really scary for us (laughs).

"My part's pretty small so it was easy enough, but it was my first ever film," she says. "It was easier because it was just voiceover so I didn't have to be on camera and it was fun. It's my voice and I'm just supposed to be young and my dad (Shatner, as Ozzie, the senior possum) embarrasses me a lot."

Lavigne has already seen the finished product and says it was "cool" and "weird" to hear her voice coming out of the cartoon critter.

She has another film lined up, which she can't yet discuss, and will also begin work on her third album. "I have songs. I'm probably going to go record some before Christmas, but next year is when I'm really going to start it."

Meanwhile, she has recorded a faithful rendition of John Lennon's "Imagine" for an Amnesty International campaign. "I just did a mellow version with piano," Lavigne says. "I just asked Chantal (Kreviazuk) to come play piano because I needed someone to play piano in it, and she's really good and I had Butch (Walker) produce it."

Well, I think she has one or two good songs, but generally I don't find her all that genuine. Her style seems a bit fabricated to me. But I also think that she has really grown as an artist since she began.

oh buddy, shes gonna be in a movie? well then lol.

yah i like some of her songs very much but not her, never have since day one, theres just something about her that rubs me the wrong way. i think one thing that recently bugged me was when her new album came out and (i dunno if some of you noticed it much) but she was really starting to rip off amy's style, i mean: playing piano, dressing darker and saying her music was more darker, did not impress me one bit, but hey thats just me speaking here.

but i did grow up with her drummer, great guy. and my friend and guitarist in my band has talked to jesse colburn before who i hear is also a kick ass person. its all just cause of the area i grew up in really, ahhh good old ajax/whitby/oshawa

Avril's cool. I have both of her CDs and think they're both good (but I think 'Let Go' is better than her latest one). I know I just read that article on her doing an independent film w/ Richard Gere and Claire Daines, but is there also any news on a follow-up album to 'Under My Skin'? Just wondering.

Well, that's all very cool. Avril and Claire Danes in the same movie?! Yey! That excites me for some reason. o_O I just hope she doesn't get too caught up in the acting thing and become another all-around entertainer. I mean if that's what she wants and she can pull it off, great. Just as long as the music doesn't get put off to the side. And speaking of the music, I'd say we can expect the new album somewhere around the middle of next year? I hope so. ^_^

I don't like Avril Lavigne music. But maybe i could like her work in the cinema.
But i can uderstand some directors. Sometimes exist good actors and they can't do any film, but Avril is beauty and popular and yes she cand be an actress. I don't have nothing to say about her.. clearly...!

Avril Lavigne is working on a couple of movies and has covered John Lennon's "Imagine" to raise funds for Amnesty International.

Like so many other singers these days, Avril Lavigne is venturing into acting. But, thankfully, she's slowly easing into it instead of taking some cheesy starring role.

After recently finishing her world tour, Lavigne is taking a break from music to take a role in Richard Gere and Claire Danes' upcoming flick, The Flock. She's currently in New Mexico filming her few scenes. A management representative told MTV.com that the 21-year-old is running through her lines and "testing the waters" for the independent crime drama after successfully passing her audition.

The pop-punk princess' voice is also being used for a possum named Heather in the DreamWorks animated film, Over The Hedge. The movie, due out in May, will also feature the voices of William Shatner, Bruce Willis and Gary Shandling.

Lavigne has started writing songs for her third album, but isn't likely to start recording until at least midway through next year. She's also expected to make select live appearances throughout 2006.

Another article on Avril's movie career. Nothing really new but I thought it was worth a mention :)

I hope "Imagine" won't be flat. I might just like it.

I heard she actually auditioned for the part in "The Flock", and got it that way... That's kinda neat, how she wasn't just given the role because she had fame from before, Jessica Simpson.

It's gonna be fun to see if she sucks or not.

I think "Fall to Pieces" was the last single.

"Fall to Pieces" was her most recent single, but there was no video for it. And it was released way too long after "Nobody's Home" dropped off the charts, so it got very little radio airplay. Too bad - it's one of my faves from "Under My Skin". :(

"He Wasn't" was the last single released from her album -- at least in Canada.

I remember hearing about that.... the US never got He Wasn't as a single. Instead, we got Fall to Pieces. I'm not sure what song was released internationally, either.

Sorry - didn't mean to confuse anyone!
