Well what do you think of the new band aid song, i think it's alright, but dizzee rascal doesn't sound good rapping to a guitar.

i heard it this morning. meh. the rapping made it even worse... when the guitars started playing i thought 'woo maybe a decent bit' but it sounds like the darkness so.. hmm. it's not as good as the original. it'll get to #1 cause it's for charity but... meh. i wonder how much they care about what they're singing for? maybe that's why they don't seem to sing with much enthusiasm. meh. why's there no option for 'meh'? cause that's what it is. hehe.

i just heard it about an hour ago
and to be honest... i think it sucks
why would you want to re-do a song like that?
it was unique and beautifull the way it was with all those 80's rockstars
now they used the sugar babes, will young, jamelia....C'MON!
the only good band in it is Coldplay

I'm interested in hearing what Justin from 'The Darkness' does to Bono's original line.

But I'm also intrigued as to why they didn't write another song?

Blitzkrieg

They didnt write another song because then they wouldnt be able to try and ride of the success of the old one, good cause, crap song, crap idea.

I agree. he sucks lmao i saw him on GMTV yesterday and I just wanted to punch im he was so sarcastic about bonjo

Anyway i heard the song yesterday and im not too keen on it but its for charity so thats the main thing i hope it gets to #1 which im sure it will.

i think it's ok apart from the rap which is utter crap and the end bit is rubbish cause there's just too much going on. i love the guitars, well of course i do it's the darkness. he didnt do bonos line in the end but i wish he had. apparently he did it really well but then bono kicked up such a fuss about it that he insisted he had to do it. Child! i would have loved to hear justins version of that line and i think bonos partly shot himself in the foot by redoing the line cause its nowhere near as good as the original time he did it and thats all anyone's gonna think about. im probably gonna make a lot of enemys by doing this but i think bono's a bit of an arrogant arsehole. it's like he thinks he's the next jesus or somethin. dont get me wrong i like some of U2s songs but just not that man. and kickin up such a fuss over that line. its a bit 'ooooh im 5 years old.' anyway rant over. i think they should have let more 'real' bands on the single e.g. snow patrol, coldplay, travis, the darkness, razorlight, the libertines, damien rice, the killers (ok i know they're not english but it would have been fun) ash, oh why can i never think of things like this when i need to...but you get the point. anyways just my thoughts on it

I haven't heard the new one and to be honest i hope i never do (yeah thats likely) the original was shit and from what ive heard about there being rap parts as well it sounds lkike it will be even worse. As Blitzkrieg i think said good cause shit song. You've got to wonder of all the people who signed up to do it how many of them really care about the cause and how many just want to look good get a guaranteed number 1

i wasn't suprised when I heard this. Utter rubbish. Bad performances from many of the artists and trying to re-release that song was a ridiculous idea.

It will sell well because it's for charity and that's fine but I wish they had come up with something original, that song is actually quite patronising for the people it's talking about.

well this thread seems to be full of negative comments, but i think its actually not that bad, fair enough tho, its never gonna live up to the original, it pales in comparision to it really...
im glad bono kept his line, but what is with the dizzee rascal bit? so bad its funny! lol. it probably cos they wanted a wide range of artists to reflect the change in music over the years, so they thought they'd stick dizee on there- big mistake!
i agree with BlackShuck, i think Damien Rice would've been such a great adition to the line up.

I heard it today and was pleasantly surprised!! I hated Dizzee Rascals rap and im soooo happy that Bono sang his line and not Justin!! I dont think its as good as the original but I like it!! I hope it does well *which it no doubt will*
Like many of you, I would have prefered if they had all done something original, like a new song - remakes of classics are hard...and good luck to them :)

I heard it this morning and I don't think it is to bad. I do not like the rap in it as I think it ruins the song but its still a good version.

I heard it yesterday.

:(

I'd rather give my money straight to charity than buy that song. It is for a good cause but dear lord, what a terrible remake.

I heard something written about it that they picked only popular people to sing the main parts, and no the people who could sing it.
Bob geldof said they should leave there ego at the door, well that didn't happen. (robbie williams, justin hawkins)

I think that is actually a good thing, that they did that, I mean if this reacord is gonna help people it needs to sell. To sell to the market it needs a popular image, and alot more people will buy with somthing like Robbie williams on it as apposed to somone who is less popular but can actually sing, bruce dickinson for example.

on mtv news, they were telling that singer of coldplay, (can't remember his name right now) is ashamed now of being part of it, because it's so overdone

I think that it wouldve been better to re release the original as the new version is just bland and meaningless whereas the old one got the point. And i agree that the rapping bit just spoiled it, it couldve been slightly better if there was more effort and feeling put into it, and also I reckon the song doesnt do any justice to the people singing on it because in my opinion they all sound out of tune, sorry!!

i think it suck so badly. it does my head in every time i hear it and i have to change channels. the only good thing about this song is that it's for charity.

Even people i know who like pop music say they don't like this new song but it was still the biggest selling single of last year apparently. Meh at least its for charity and ive avoided hearing it too much so its all good

Yep you really have to question the motives of some of the singers like that x factor winner suddenly donated his singles profits to the tsunami victims and he got to number 1. Maybe i'm doing him an injustice but meh

No you're completely right there i am not disrespecting the good cause at all but some artists are going the wrong way about getting themselves well known

If they wanted to raise money they may as well have just rereleased the original it would have probably raised a lot more money with it being more popular
