I think good on Merlin, His message was commendable and unselfish. What he did made him look like an idiot and he probably knew that himself, but it got the message across, look on the BB site, pictures and a review of what happened. So it was played on live TV and is now on the net and no doubt soon it will be on the news.

Although i toward's the end i was thinking he's an annoying little girl, i respect him more after going through with that.

I couldn't agree more :) Sure, it may have seemed embarassing for Gretel and the producers, but deep down inside they were most definitely doing little happy dances because Merlin's little stunt will get them more ratings. This series hasn't been rating well, and they are putting more money into this series then the previous ones (eg. the million dollar prize money.) So anything that will get more people watching will make them VERY happy. And even if Merlin did break his contractual obligations, in the end it will get Channel 10 more viewers because of both BB and Rove, so I doubt they will mind too much.

I was going to come on last night after the show but I was too tired, but I'm here now and OMFG!

What an idiot! I appreciate that he wanted to make a statement, but he went about it the wrong way. And Gretel, she is even more of a legend now, she handled that so bloody well.

I don't think he's shy, I think it's more that he is incapable of dealing with big social situations, such as being in front of a live audience of millions. I have to admit (and it's hard to admit as well as I am head of the Merlin Sucks club :p ) that I did feel slightly sorry for him when he was sitting there. His knees were bouncing up and down, which is a telltale sign of nervousness. But even though he didn't speak, it still made an impact. It actually made the front page of the newspaper :eek: And he has got all the protest groups on his side.

Also, he has done an interview with the BB site. it's actually quite interesting. Doesn't stop Merlin from being a little bitch though ;)

i too, am not a fan of BB, or reality tv... or tv in general ;) but i heard what was going to happen, and decided to watch it for fun

but i say good on him, if he believes that strongly and passionately about it, which he obviously does, i don't see why he can't do that... and hey... look what it's done... people are still talking about it ;)

He said he was sorry for upsetting Gretel and the people in the audiance...some apology! I think Gretel handed the situation very professionally...good on her :) ...but Merlin didn't answer all the questions directly,(like when Gretal asked him what right he had to tell the Aust goverment what to do when he can't vote,and valued his European passport more than Australian one).He beat about the bush,even contradicting himself,saying a bit of paper meant nothing,then saying later he was going to get an Australian passport(I guess that means citizenship).

One thing that really pisses me off(apart from the fact he should have been disqualified) is that he is gonna recieve his prizes,keep the holiday,keep the watches and phones,but sell the car and give the proceeds to charity!!! Why doesn't he sell the lot and GIVE IT ALL TO CHARITY!

Are you taking war or poverty in to concideration? Do you honestly believe people in these situations can say "Hmmmm this is bad... i know! i'll go get a job like everyone else"? In my opinion, we are in no place to judge these people as it's unlikely that any of us actually know their reasons for doing what they did. It's much easier to judge than it is to respect someone's action's even if you don't understand the motives.
