I was going through my metal and rock new articles today and found this. Knowing that Dev and Michelle kinda like Billy I thought I'd post this. :D
Even though you guys probably already knew about this I thought I'd post it for others to see as well.
After putting two bands on ice in the past four years, Billy Corgan will go it alone for his next album. The former Smashing Pumpkins and Zwan frontman has begun work on what will be his debut solo recording, though in a Web post he joked, "some would argue that it's not my first, and I wouldn't argue with you there."
"I am excited to work on this music," Corgan continued, "because for the first time in my life it will be my tunes with no compromises to anyone or anything. It's gonna be loud and beautiful and poetic and dumb. Just the way I like it."
Corgan disbanded Smashing Pumpkins in late 2000, taking drummer Jimmy Chamberlin along with him in Zwan, which he formed a year later. The group released one album, Mary Star of the Sea, before Corgan announced their breakup last fall, complaining that "band members viewed it as something they could decide to do or not to do."
Zwan guitarist David Pajo had been working with his project Papa M for several years before joining Zwan, and didn't seem inclined to dissolve it. Zwan bassist/vocalist Paz Lenchantin joined Pajo's troupe, which has an active 2004 planned including a February tour with Super Furry Animals, the next in its numerical singles series ("Six") due in March, and Hole of Burning Alms, a collection of singles from 1995 to 2000 due in February.
In addition to Corgan's solo debut, he's a week away from turning in a book of poetry for future publication.

I First heard Smashing Pumpkins on the "Singles" movie sountrack with the song "Drown"! I loved their sound. And Billy's voice... WOW...soo UNIQUE & like no one elses!
He's from my hometown....YEAH! :D
Did you catch him sing "Take me out to the ballgame" at one of the Cub's final games? It was cool! Probably the best ever! (Cub's eventually lost...OF COURSE!)
So sad :( when they broke up though!
But Billy rocks on!
A local rock radio station here, 94.7 the zone, still plays "Drown" and many other Pumpkins' songs.
Few top favs are "bullet with butterfly wings" & "tonight, tonight".
Fav. album: too hard to choose!

I never hear them played on the radio. Actually there was a "rock battle" between Silverchair and the Pumpkins on a radio station over here (australia). Basicly, they play a whole heap of the bands best songs and people ring up and vote for their fav, no reason at all really, kinda pointless. So anyway, Silverchair won cause they are the "local hero's" (YOU SUCK! YOU SUCK!) and I got pissed off...
But I scored me a ZERO single the other day for $5!!! Woo!!

Billy Corgan Eyes Spring Release For Solo Debut
September 29, 2004
Former Smashing Pumpkins/Zwan mastermind Billy Corgan says he is in the process of finishing off his first truly solo record. On his weblog, billycorgan.com, he says the album is "finished" and he will be mixing it for the next three weeks. Corgan expects the album to be released some time in the spring of 2005. He says, "I am very excited about the album as I feel I have created something relatively fresh and vibrant and exciting to my ears... I know that I like it, and that makes me smile."
Corgan's first book of poetry, Blinking With Fists, was recently released. He recently performed as part of a benefit concert in Chicago, and will be making a pair of speaking appearances to promote his poetry book in San Francisco and Seattle next month.

Cool beans. Thanks for the info. I really like the SP. "Eye" is one of my favorite songs EVER.
I wonder what this album will sound like?

Billy Corgan was great on Blindside's "Hooray, It's LA". I might actually be looking forward to this solo effort.

Before the evboard apocalypse there was a thread up about Billy Corgan's upcoming tour. Has anyone here bought tickets yet or heard's his new album?
I convinced one of my friend's who hasn't really even heard the Pumpkins to buy a ticket but I haven't layed the cash down yet. I need more convincing although not buying a ticket probably makes me a horrible friend. Someone please convince me

I had a listen to the album today and it's quite good. I think it'll grow on me. I'm not too keen on the cover of "You don't know what it's like", the Pumpkins never did covers.. (??) but yeah, I'll probably go to this concert if I can spare the cash.

I've listened to Billy's album some more and found 2 songs I like a lot. I'll be seeing him tomorrow night at the Tivoli. General Admission tickets were still available on Monday when I bought mine.

The Pumpkins did covers ALL the time. And I do mean ALL the time Mostly just live. But they have tons of B-sides that were covers. In fact one of their most well known songs is Fleetwood Mac's Cover of "Landslide" from the B-sides/Rarties album "Pisces Iscariot". Plus a bunch of their recorded covers were on "The Aeroplane Flies High" box set. And I must say, they do an incredible cover of "You're All I've Got Tonight" by the cars.

Thanks for the info, albeit exaggerated :) I really meant covers released on albums, as in their mainstream releases. I know there was at least 1 cover on the Friends and Enemies of Modern Music.
Have you developed a following for Billy's solo stuff or seen his concert?

I did go out and purchase TheFutureEmbrace the day it came out, since I was really excited about it. Once I finally gave it a spin though. I was rather disappointed. I wasn't really expecting The Pumpkins, or even Zwan, but something about this record just lacks something.
It has grown on me a bit after listening to it a bit more, but I still find something missing.
