My dentist told me that your wisdom teeth usually come in when you're 18.
I'm 16 and one of mine is already growing. Stupid wisdom teeth.
Is it normal for your gum to "split open"..to let the wisdom tooth in?
It's like..hanging.. but not exactly "cut" off.
I'm sorry. Stupid thread.. ehhh

yes, they push through your gum, and yes, it hurts like a bitch.
IF they haven't fully come through yet, try chewing on that side to help the gum recede.
If they do not come out, they are called "impacted" and your dentist will have to remove them. I've had all 4 of mine removed on separate occasions. The tops usually come in first, and they are also easier to remove.
Oh...maybe I've had mine come through already then...because I had bits of gum hanging and stuff, it felt weird.
But there's still small gaps of gum, maybe there's a tooth under there? I don't know how much gum is supposed to be left in the end.

Yes, it is quite normal that gum splits. The annoying bit is when you have them pulled out. All 4 have been bulled out, and that was quite annoying.

The gum has to split. Otherwise, how will the tooth come through?
Coincidental that I saw this thread, as I saw the dentist for this same reason today.
It should be fine, but apparently you should make sure food doesn't get stuck in the broken skin, as it could get infected. So they say clean your teeth more, but they say that for whatever problem you have lol.
