Ooh good band. I like them a lot. Also they are from around my area and that's always cool (unless they really suck, which this band doesn't). Everyone should check them out.

I got their cd a few years ago when Polyamourous first came out. The album was rather disappointing, or maybe it just wasn't as good as I expected it to be.

I always thought the lead singer looks like a younger Teemu Selanne [[ hockey player ]]

I first found out about BB when I heard they were going to be touring with Evanescence. I then went to their website to check them out and listened to So Close and Follow and loved them. So, I pre-ordered their new album which comes out on June 29th and I just bought their old album, Saturate, a few days ago...I absolutely love it. As Roxanne said, the site has streaming clips up for both albums, so I definitely recommend checking them out. The short clips don't really do the songs justice, but eh it's something. I can't wait to see them open for Ev :)

I met them April 19th of last year....i thought they were "so cool" and stuff...they were doing an interview for the radio station and so my friends and i went up to get their autograph...they didn't say anything to me, they rolled their eyes, scribbled down their names, and rudly handed me the peice of paper. How nice.

Billy Corgan, Evanescence Help Breaking Benjamin Break Big

by Jon Wiederhorn

In the video for Breaking Benjamin's single "So Cold," a convict is sentenced to have his arms chained to a slab of stone that he must carry through the woods and into a deep river. But he's not the only one who suffered.

"There were ticks and leeches all over the place," frontman Ben Burnley said of the daylong shoot directed by Smith n' Borin in April. "Fortunately, I was standing on the land, but [guitarist] Aaron [Fink] and [bassist] Markus [James] were in the bog, and I really thought they'd come out with leeches all over their legs because that water was disgusting."

OK, so the sacrifice wasn't exactly huge, but it illustrates the extent to which Breaking Benjamin are willing to go for their career. Two weeks before their sophomore disc, We Are Not Alone, came out, they began a tour to generate prerelease buzz, which may have helped them to debut at #20 on the Billboard albums chart.

"Playing live is so important," said Burnley, whose band hit the road with Evanescence on Tuesday. "It doesn't matter how good your record is, people, they want to see a band live, and if you win them over in concert, they'll love you even more and tell even more people about you."

When Breaking Benjamin break into "So Cold" at shows, fans sing along and cheer so loudly you can hardly hear the band. Even more thrilling for Burnley is that two months after its release, he can still play the tune every night without growing weary of it. "It's a really strong song, and I think that comes from everybody in the band writing it together," he said. "A lot of times I'll write the whole thing, but that one was split pretty evenly."

As much of a unifying force as "So Cold" has been for the band's fans, to Burnley the song is bleak and apocalyptic. "I always picture it as an end-of-the-world kind of thing," he said. "It's not about that, but I picture that because there's a line that goes, 'If you find your family/ Don't you cry,' and it makes me think it's because they're dead when you find them — like in the movie '28 Days Later.' I love that movie."

While "So Cold" was created completely by Breaking Benjamin, three songs on We Are Not Alone were co-written by ex-Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan: "Rain," "Follow" and "Forget It." The band hooked up with Corgan after finding out he had been working with other bands including Blindside and Taproot. The collaboration took place over six days in December and was one of the highlights of Burnley's career, he said.

"At first, I was so nervous," he admitted. "When I met him I was like, 'Oh sh--, that's Billy Corgan.' But after a while I got more comfortable, and then he just became Billy. I'd come in every day, we'd order soup, eat and then we'd get to work. It was great."

Despite such opportunities, not to mention their recent chart success, Burnley and his bandmates are still as humble as they were before they got signed. They see every act of good fortune as a gift, and they remain thankful to their fans for everything.

"We've actually seen a few fans with Breaking Benjamin tattoos, and that just blows us away," Burnley said. "That sh--'s permanent, which is such a compliment. I mean, I have no expectations for anything, and I know we're still nobodies. We're still a baby band, and we have a lot of work to do."

Breaking Benjamin was great live. Sure, they didn't get much in the way of fanfare or a big ass set, but that's ok.

Water, in my opinion, was the best song they performed in the set apart from So Cold.

It reminded me of Disturbed a bit. I love that song though. I was banging my head all crazy like haha.

From Billboard.com

Rock act Breaking Benjamin is providing 11 tracks from its first two albums to Buena Vista Games' "TRON 2.0: Killer App" videogame. "TRON 2.0" is due this fall exclusively for Xbox Live.

Rob Souriall, VP of marketing at Hollywood, explains that "the in-game play features only instrumental tracks to stay true to the 'TRON' franchise." But cross-promotional marketing efforts will feature tracks, including lyrics.

Hollywood Records is planning a pre-sell and/or gift-with-purchase program for a bonus CD-ROM that contains all 11 music tracks and several videos from Breaking Benjamin. Featured are the band's first radio hit, "Polyamorous," and two other tracks from its 2002 debut album, "Saturate." The other eight tracks, including the single "So Cold," are from new album "We Are Not Alone," which debuted last month at No. 20 on The Billboard 200.

From krockradio.com

Breaking Benjamin fans will want to pick up “Amp’d: A Father’s Backstage Pass.” The book tells the story of the first four years of the group, as told and witnessed by Gary Fincke, the father of Breaking Benjamin guitarist Aaron Fincke. The book is shipping now, so place your orders.

I have to say that they rocked at the Ev concert in Minneapolis. My brother had Saturate, so I listened to it a few times and bought We Are Not Alone before the concert. I'd definitely go see them again. I think I like Saturate better so far, actually.

The one thing I didn't like at the concert was that Ben yelled, while getting everyone pumped up for the other bands, "And, of course, GODDAMN EVANESCENCE!" STFU. God loves Ev, because I love Ev. heehee

BB rock solid for sure, one of my fave bands... mind you, on a long list of fave bands, but nonetheless, their on there.

Anywho, heres a piece of good news that may or may not have been posted already. BB has made it on two recent video game soundtracks. Firefly is on WWE Day of Reckoning which is a brand new wrestling game, and also theres another game called Tron2 that came out that has two of their songs on it.

This is good news for them, i guess, hopefully the exposure does them good.

This story is from AllAccess.com

BREAKING BENJAMIN - The Pennsylvania-based quartet is in the Top Five and climbing on the Alternative chart with "So Cold."
Singer/guitarist Ben Burnley, the band's namesake, gave USA Today (http://www.usatoday.com) writer Edna Gundersen some insight on why their sophomore CD, "We Are Not Alone," and current hit are garnering so much success.

"Right now, a lot of bands sound a lot alike," says Burnley, 26, "We're kind of in that category. I hear from a lot of fans who say we have a unique sound, and I'm like, 'Really?' It's hard to do something totally different, because everything you do in rock now is going to sound like something that came earlier. The key is to use those influences well."

Burnley says he's come a long way since his days of playing acoustic sets at open-mike nights for $50 and working his day job at Pizza Hut. But he told USA Today that he's careful not to take himself or the success of the band too seriously.

"This is a job, and as long as I'm not living in a cardboard box, I don't mind not being the biggest band in the world," Ben explains. "We'll keep making music. We'll keep touring until we stop selling records and the label says, 'Go home.' I'd like a little nest egg, but I don't have to be a rock star. If I could make a couple million bucks, I'd be happy to give music away on the Internet."'

Ben says the real trick to surviving a rock and roll career is to know when to call it quits and how to keep your sense of humor. "They should get rich and get out," Burnley says. "Look at Scott Stapp [former Creed singer]. He just won't go away. Same with Fred Durst [Limp Bizkit]. OK, man, you made your millions. Nobody wants you around anymore, so move over and make room."

Breaking Benjamin is on the road playing shows in Lancaster, PA 9/17, Pittsburgh, PA 9/18, Dayton, OH 9/19, Lexington, KY 9/21, Hungtington, WV 9/22, Huntsville, AL 9/24, Myrtle Beach, SC 9/25, Greenville, NC 9/26, Atlanta, GA 9/28, Tampa, FL 9/29, Jackson, MS 10/1, Mobile, AL 10/2, Little Rock, AR 10/3, Salt Lake City, UT 10/5, Portland, OR 10/7, Seattle, WA 10/8, Sparks, NV 10/11, Sacramento, CA 10/12, San Francisco, CA 10/13, Las Vegas, NV 10/15, Los Angeles, CA 10/16, San Diego, CA 10/17, Phoenix, AZ 10/19, Tucson, AZ 10/20, Dallas, TX 10/24, Selma, TX 10/28, and The Woodlands, TX 10/29.

Breaking From Benjamin

Breaking Benjamin is moving forward without drummer Jeremy Hummel. The former skinbeater announced his departure via fansite www.shallowbay.com. Jeremy, who just became a father to son Julian Raymond Hummel September 2nd, said in his posting that he was informed his services were no longer needed. “I cannot tell you exactly why this has happened,” said the drummer. “There was no definitive reason. What I can tell you and assure you is that I have done nothing to warrant this decision. My actions nor my words have determined this fate.” Hummel said he was “extremely proud of the band’s current success” and that he felt the group made “some fantastic music” during his tenure with Breaking Benjamin.

I just saw that commercial like 10 minutes ago..while watching 7th Heaven. *Yes I'm a dork..haha* And I kinda think the movie doesn't look half bad. Plus with a promo featuring Breaking Benjamin...I might give it a chance...lol.

7th Heaven pwns. The thing I'm concerned about is the fact that Breaking Benjamin is advertising an ABC family movie...when the last original movie I remember was the one produced by Britney Spears. And it was pretty awful.

But hey, how wrong can you go with Breaking Benjamin in a horror flick?

Ahh I know which movie you mean. It was SO lame. Gah! The best was when the Britney songs would like give her the strength to persevere...I dunno why but that just made me laugh..

I think I prefer Saturate over We Are Not Alone...I had Saturate on constant rotation when I first got it. We Are Not Alone is a decent album too and I do like the tracks, but I favor Saturate as a whole, personally.

I'll be at their show on Friday at The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. Anyone else going to that one as well?

I have to agree. At first I liked WANA better..but now I am all about Saturate being better. The songs are just..I dunnot there's something extra about them that the tracks on WANA don't have.

You know, both of the albums are really good, and have their high points, but I think I like Saturate better. Maybe because Polyamorous is my favorite song of theirs.

But I put WENA on tape, so I listen to it more (no CD player in my car) (well, minivan...go ahead and laugh.)

Exactly. I can't quite put my finger on it, but WANA, as a whole, is just kinda bleh compared to Saturate. So Cold and Away are really the only ones that stick out for me.

As far as I know, they only released Polyamorous from Saturate. So Cold is the only single from WANA thus far.

I think they released Polyamorous and Skin. I don't think they had a video for Skin, but it was indeed a single. If I find out, I'll post their next single here. So Cold can't be the single forever. It's been around since June.

I'm going to second you on this. I'm almost certain Skin was a single *I remember hearing it on the radio a LOT here and I still hear it..then again BB is somewhat of a local band..but still* but there wasn't a video. at least I didn't see one nor can I find one..so yeah. And as for the second single off WANA..I'm guessing it'll be "Follow"---but you never know.

Follow was my guess as well since it was the only other song that was promoted on their website with So Cold before WANA was released. But, I've been hearing things about Breakdown...and now with them performing it on ABC Family, that might be a clue to it being the next single. *shrug*

Breaking Benjamin came to little rock a few weeks ago.. I went on their tour bus and they had the video from the little rock show- so i got to watch all the pranks and stuff again!! i missed a lot of the B.B pranks at the show, so i finally got to see what everyone was talking about! I wasn't fortunate enough to see breaking benjamin in concert while they were touring with Ev, but I do like some of their stuff. I was under the impression that they were emo because of the name "breaking benjamin" - it sounds like "saving tuesday" and "bringing back september" and all those emo names with days of the week and months etc. I saw the music video for "so cold" and i was impressed - a rock band with a semi-complex video...they can't be half bad. So i checked them out and I'm happy to say that I would like to get their cd... good band

I'd so love to relive that. I was able to get a load of pictures, but that's nothing like watch a video of it all...good times, good times. I wonder if they'll include some of it on perhaps a future video project or if it's just for personal use and enjoyment for the band...probably the latter.

Just got back a little while ago from their concert. They definitely know how to put on a rockin show. Much better than seeing them as an opening act, probably cause they were in their own element and not performing for many who may not have heard of them or care.

Ben really hearted the audience's enthusiasm and in the middle of the set, he put his guitar down and jumped into the little pit area where security and photographers are and proceeded to climb up on the barricades to touch and shake/slap people's hands...quite awesome of him to do. People were grabbing at him from all angles which was pretty humorous and kinda painful with being pushed against the barricade heh. I feel too weird to try and touch someone and don't get the whole "omg I touched so-and-so," but I just kinda slapped his hand when he came near since he extended the gesture first.

I managed to catch a setlist so here it is for those interested:
Home
I Wish I May
Away
Polyamorous
Water
Lithium (cover)
Breakdown
Medicate
Break My Fall
Firefly
Simple Design
So Cold
Encore: Shallow Bay

Also at one point in the set, don't remember exactly when, Ben played/sang a bit of Chevelle's Closure...don't know if he does that often or if he just felt like it then.

I like them even though they are not my usual indie and extremely hardcore bands that I love. Their video for "So Cold" is amazing, so well done. Question: who is that girl who strays from the group in the video, a picks a red rose and smiles sadly at the sky? I recognize her and I can't place her, it's driving me fucking crazy! Is he on an HBO show? Sopranos maybe? Grrrr...ruff....

Yeah, I looked at the lyrics for "Blow Me Away". Pretty describing of what goes on in Halo. That EP has some live songs, and "Lady Bug", which was originally on the Japan edition of We Are Not Alone. "Ordinary Man", which was also on the Japan CD, won't be on the EP, according to the Shallow Bay board. So I heard.

Don't confuse "Cold" with "So Cold".

"Cold" is Crossfade
"What I really meant to say, is I'm sorry for the way I am.
I never meant to be so cold. Never meant to be so cold."

"So Cold" is Breaking Benjamin
"Crowded streets all cleared away one by one. Hollow heroes separate as they run.
You're so cold keep your hand in mine. Wise men wonder while strong men die..."

Yeah. I was taking to Lacey Mosley's (Flyleaf) stylist today and she told me that. BB wants to finish in PA and Flyleaf will play with them.

It was a great show. I didn't really get into Halogen that much, but the other three were pretty good.

Breaking Benjamin was great. First non-Ev show I've ever been to and they did not disappoint.

So they are going to start their new tour March 1st supposedly in Washington D.D. They are headlining with openers such as The Exies and Theory of A Deadman. This should be at least through March and April.

I see them doing either Madison or Milwaukee if they come to Wisconsin. That's what they did last time they were here.
EDIT:
Now that i'm thinking about it, they need to remake the Ohio date, so I'd say that a Wisconsin or Minnesota date would be very likely.

My mom wouldn't let me go. I dragged the topic out as far is it would go. And, didn't leave it intill i had a deal that I got one concert that she could not pass judgment on, she would have to say yes. (which along with many deals has come to haunt her :p )

I really only care if my knee get's anymore hurt then it is... If I break an arm, i will loose about 2 or more months of swim training (which is about what i've lost in the past two weeks, from the break) and, that's really my only fear. If my knee get's more hurt, it's serious damage. A lot of the time I can't walk as it is. So, you could imagine.

If i cared about getting hurt, I would of quit swimming long ago. ;)

Hopefully they'll come somewhere close to here again... They where opening so, i guess it wasn't that much of a loss.

Okay, so concert review time. BB kicked ass as usal. I LOVE Chad with his longer bleached hair. It makes him look so much younger. Mark and Aaron were both rocking out as usual. Ben seemed like he was tired though. And he would cough right before he'd sing...EVERYTIME. I think he should give up smoking, but what are you gonna do. Setlist as follows:
So Cold
Polyamorous
Breakdown
Away
Break My Fall
Home
Sooner or Later
Simple Design

No encore, obviously, but what shocked me more was that they didn't play Rain. I thought that was a for sure performance song.

BB will be recording their album in January for a summer 2006 release. David Bendeth (We Are Not Alone producer) has signed on to produce the project. A converted Church in New Jersey will be home during the sessions, beginning January pre-production.

Also, So Cold has been nominated for a Radio Music Award which is being aired on 12/19.

Hmm, since Ben has mentioned that he's worked in the town where I live in NJ at one point, I wonder if any of the recently converted church around the block from my house might be the one they're talking about...hmmmm.

there is also a DVD that will be coming out. no projected release date yet but it has been confirmed that the band, Freddie, and crew have been filming for it.

Breaking Benjamin has been nominated for 'Rock Artist of the Year' for the Billboard Awards which airs Tuesday, December 6th at 7 CST on Fox.

BREAKING BENJAMIN

TO RELEASE NEW CD ‘PHOBIA’ AUGUST 8;

FIRST SINGLE ‘THE DIARY OF JANE’ ARRIVES AT RADIO JUNE 6;

BAND TO SHOOT VIDEO IN NEW YORK CITY AND HEAD OUT ON THE ROAD THIS SUMMER

Everyone has a phobia—and BREAKING BENJAMIN will share theirs August 8 when they release PHOBIA on Hollywood Records. It’s the much-anticipated follow-up to their explosive platinum 2004 album WE ARE NOT ALONE, which produced a pair of compelling #1 rock hits, “So Cold” and “Sooner Or Later.”

PHOBIA will be launched June 6 at radio with the single “The Diary Of Jane,” a song that impressively builds on BREAKING BENJAMIN’s mix of hard-charging rock, sharp hooks and soaring vocals. The band–BEN BURNLEY, vocals/guitar; AARON FINK, guitar; MARKUS JAMES, bass; CHAD SZELIGA, drums–will shoot the video May 25 in New York City and will head out on the road in late July on a major tour (details TBA).

For PHOBIA, BREAKING BENJAMIN rejoined forces with producer David Bendeth, who did the same honors for We Are Not Alone. “The goal was to make a solid, mature and cohesive record, not just a few singles and filler,” says bassist MARKUS JAMES. “We had some time to live with the songs and as a result the album is much more thought-out. I’ve never felt this strong about any album. This was our second time working with David so everything was a lot smoother this time around. We’ve all gotten a lot better at our craft and we knew we needed to take it to a higher level.”

The 1st of a series of video podcasts is available now at www.breakingbenjamin.com

I dunno if there's any other BB fans here, but I am a HUGE fan. I'm really excited for this CD. My boyfriend likes this band a lot...he went to their concert, and I had heard of them, but didn't hear much of their music. But now that I've heard it, I've started to listen to their songs a lot, and I really love them. The Diary of Jane is awesome...I can't wait to see what the other new songs will sound like!

Has anyone seen the video? It was supposed to premiere last week, but then they changed it to tommorrow, and I guess they put it up early... I like the concept of it; It's pretty awesome.

It's on the Launch music page, as posted above. :)

Rumor has it that BB and Crossfade are touring with each other over the summer.
Didn't Crossfade (more specifically, Ed Sloan) say they were gonna take a break from touring to work on a new album? So much for that.

Unless I'm just talking out my ass and they already finished it or something. >.>

Btw...FUCK YES!! They're coming to Starland Ballroom with Dropping Daylight. I always thought BB was cool but it isn't until recently that I realized how good WANA actually is. I can't wait to see them again.
