Okies I dont mean to send anyone into a mental breakdown trying to figure out what I'm asking... but however if you do breakdown and go mad and insane and have to be locked up in a padded cell with those happy guys in white coats... I'm honestly sorry
Now... I have a Windows 95 compaq computer that doesnt do jack shit with the internet or games or anything else... however it still has a good amount of memory that is free and it has a good running Windows word processor.
I also have and am using a windows 98 compaq computer that is working fine for the time being but doesnt have a lot of free memory due to all the songs and vidoes I have downloaded and it doesnt have a work word processor which isnt a good thing considering I need that to open edit and print my resumes.
Ive opened the 95 computer up to look at all the memory cards and wires and crap and it was a truely scary sight :( It kinda looked pretty and reminded me of that cartoon on CN the Reboot or whatever... yea that rocked :D
So now the question can I (with somebodys help of course) take the memory card out of the 95 computer and install it into the 98 computer...? Will it work ok...? how do I uninstall and reinstall a memory card..? What is a memory card and what does it look like ..?<<Can you tell I am not the smarted person when it comes to computers>>

There's 2 things you're talking about here that is totally different. First you talk about memory card, you probably mean the rams, but you also say that the 98 computer doesn't have enough space because of all the songs and video you have on it. Well you songs and videos are saved on the hard drive, not the ram. So we'll need more info to actually know what you need. Since you said that you don't have a work processor, I guess you can't install it on that hard drive since it's full? Can you check and make sure that the problem is really the space left on the hard drive. Then we'll be able to give you a good guide on how to do it. If you want to know how much space is left, go to My Computer, then right click on the hard drive(probably C: ) and choose properties. You should see a little diagram with Used Space and Free Space. Tell us how much free space is left and we'll know if that's really the problem or not.

all your songs and shit are stored on the hard drive, not the memory (correct me if im wrong) if you want more memory, try getting one of the hard drive sticks that plug into the USB port.. or just ask a local store about getting more space

I also have and am using a windows 98 compaq computer .... I'd recommend asking Santa Claus for a new computer that runs a modern operating system. Your (computing) life would benefit immensely from that. http://img35.exs.cx/img35/6663/grin.png

I agree with Dhamma, ask for a new CPU. But if you are still stuck:
Memory is green. You should have 2 memory sticks. Just because you have your ram all kinds of filled up on one cpu doesn't mean that the memory from the other one will help... they may have the same amounts of memory. (i.e. 95 may have 512 KB, as 98 may have 512 KB... although I doubt that as I have a DELL that has less....... Anyway, I would suggest you check the specs for each computer (under system information). If the one you want more memory in has less then the one you want to take the memory from, by all means, try it. Most memory are "plugged" in, meaning there are 2 little silverish latches you need to undo to get them out. There may also be screws, as it is an older computer.
Make sure you are EXTRA careful when taking them out, don't do it on the carpet, etc. If the system isn't how you want it, then reinstall the original memory. I would double check the specs on the computer you want to change, too, because the size of your harddrive will determine how much memory you can have. It's like a credit card, you can max it out.
All in all, I would suggest getting a new computer. Chances are you are at max memory, your harddrive is getting worn out, and a new system would be best. DELL (http://www1.us.dell.com/content/products/category.aspx/desktops?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs) has some great ones, as does HP (http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/compare_category.do?storeName=computer_store&category=desktops/hp_pavilion&catLevel=1) , who now owns Compaq (http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/compare_category.do?storeName=computer_store&category=desktops/compaq_presario&catLevel=1). But whatever you do, make sure you get a warranty! Or you may also be interested in an Apple (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/71502/wo/eI4HOLR7mQIy3sQmk9Z1VKX4JDW/0.0.11.1.0.6.21.1.2.1.0.0.0.1.0).

That must of been a really old 286 or 386. I really really doubt she has less then 4MB of ram to run windows 95. I'm pretty sure she means hard drive space anyways, but we'll have to wait and see.

That's so wrong. Your hard drive NEVER determines how much ram you can have. The motherboard limits the ram you can use. You could put 8 hard drive in a computer and only 1 stick of ram.

um. ok. I was just saying. Some computers aren't made to be upgraded, especially the older ones, and this one would be older.

Yes you can have any number of memory sticks in PCs from that era. The problem is that they could be PC66, PC100, or PC133, and the two motherboards could be different in that regard as well. This isn't just as simple as pulling them out of one and putting them in another, since you seem to want more ram in the newer computer. You really need someone who knows what they're doing in person, rather than relying on us on a message board. Some things we just have to have the correct technical details to, and it's pretty hard for someone inexperienced to give us that over the internet.
