my printer wont print text it seems. Got the latest driver, did all their cleaning steps, when we run the tests on the ink cartridges it prints the black box like its supposed to, but when it prints the test page, it doesnt print the text
help?
I'm not even sure what to say on that one.
I think your best bet would be to contact the manufacturer and figure out what's wrong with it. All printers should have a 1 year warranty.

Its a good idea to get the printer made by the same company as your computer. And your dad is correct, canon printers have problems. Make sure you got an updated printer, because the old ones are just outdated and sucks.

Umm printer same brand as computer. The biggest printer manufacturers are Epson, Canon and Lexmark I've never seen a computer by any of those three. Granted you can get a Dell, Compaq or HP printer, but those are usually just rebranded versions of Epson, Canon and Lexmark.

when i run the color cleaning stuff, it will print the blocks of color and black, like its supposed to, but when i run the test page, it prints the little windows icon in the corner of the page, and thats it.

The only computer company that I know of that makes printers is HP, and HP is total crap. :p

I cant disagree with that, hp does suck. I own a hp myself, and a hp printer, and the printer works fine. I had a canon before and like somebody stated earlier, the ink cartridges suck, i had brand new ink and colored ink cartridges, and the canon was still going bonkers.
