Yeah, I heard about Halle Berry playing the role of Catwoman on Access Hollywood befo...
Heard the costume was differnet or something? Forgot...I saw it a few months ago. It was when she broke her forearm for some horror movie. Anyway, I doubt I'll see it, but had to say:
Yeah, the mask does bite...especially when it's a red X
Okay, it's not an X anymore...I looked at the actual site from the picture...that's one really weird costume.......

Good, I was starting to think I was the only one that didn't like the costume. I really don't think there's going to be anything good about this movie. It's basicaly come down to being Catwoman in title only.
And that thing with Fred Durst, as far as I know he has nothing to do with this movie, Limp Bizkit has a song on the Gothika soundtrack and she's in the video for it.

michelle pfieiffer said that the only way she would do it is if the original director(forgetting his name off hand) of the first two batmans was doing the movie with her. She liked his direction he would take the movie. I agree with her.
The main problem with this is that catwoman would not go out like that. She is a theif. A damn good theif. One good enough to know that barring skin like that can possibly result in leaving behind dna evidence that can connect her to the crimes. Something she would not want to do. That and it doesn't provide adequate protection. You would also think showing too much skin can make it easier to figure out who is underneath the mask(being able to see the body gives you confirmation of the body type and whatnot).
I like Halle Berry, but Ashley Judd I think could have pulled this off better. Of course, when is the last time you saw a descent movie based on a DC character? They are turning all their movies into kid movies that are made similiar to their cartoons. They have this belief that just cause the cartoons are doing well that the movies will too if they are made in the same way. What they don't seem to realize though is that the cartoons are on television stations that are on cable which the kids parents already have. They didn't purchase the cable just for the cartoons, they were just part of the package. However, the parents aren't as likely to just dish out the money for the movies. They need to target people old enough to work, which means getting back to movies such as the first Supermans or first Batmans.
They are doing this to such a level that they recently even changed a very important aspect of Superman's origin from what it is supposed to be in the comics to what it is in the show Smallville, all cause they figured more people would relate to the Smallville origin. People did notice though.
Anyways, enough rant about how much I am hating DC

Just another example of Hollyweird's lack of original thought and reliance on boomer culture to insure a film's monetary viability. I liked Michelle Pfeffer's version, she seems to capture the edge of sanity the character required very well.
Heres a few CatWimmen:
http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v132/conner/catwoman.jpg
I look at all the 'Cat Wimmen,' and Halle just doesn't seem to fit (and NO not because the other girls are noticeably white--skin color doesn't bother me and besides I am sure there are quite a few white girls living at tanning beds these days to give a true woman of color a run for her money--but yeah back on topic). You're right DMW, the ears are too high and are also too long. Cats have short ears...these ears look more like a Jack Russel's.
For some reason, this one is quite captivating...is she from the old Batman tv series?
Fighting crime in...open-toed shoes...jesus.
That's the part I don't get the most.
THE TRUTH BEHIND THE MASK: even an evil supervillian likes to be pampered once in a while - *insert girlie magazine* interviewed the cat's ME-yOW herself on clothes, fashion, and what she does in her spare time (adores pedicures and having her nails painted red)
Her toenails are....*squints* red...why red? Her entire outfit is BLACK, and then there's her bright red toenails...I don't get it
Oh yeah: I might have missed it, but does anyone know what the movie's storyline is?
Elric
05-11-2004, 04:34 PM
Yes, Thats Julie Newmar from the 60's TV show. There were 3 different actresses in the series. She was the first and the best I think. She also guest-starred on the original Star Trek.
http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v132/conner/CatwomanJN.jpg
Then came Eartha Kitt. She was ok but didn't have the same chemistry with Batman I think. She had the voice down puRRRfect however.
http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v132/conner/cateartha.jpg
And finally Lee Merriweather played the role in the original moive based on the TV show.
http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v132/conner/catlee.jpg
I just hope the new flick isn't too politically correct. I won't judge it until I see it.

I saw the preview to it while I was watching Spidey and about had to vomit.
I'm sorry, but why can't DC and Marvel perhaps have a meeting about how DC movies have gone to SUCK!(well ok, there's been some movies by Marvel that haven't been up to par, but...) Oh yeah, that's because Warner Brothers has a hand in what they did to the Bats, just like they've ruined practically everything that I've liked when they took it to the big screen, except Harry Potter.
I have been a fan of Bats ever since I was a little girl-that Chick isn't anything like the catwoman's I've seen, and I probably have seen at one point every episode of the Original Series. I was pleased with what Tim Burton did with the character. And I've seen every eppy of the 90s Batman cartoons..I mean, I never read a comic book of Bat's but otherwise I am a big big fan. Even was a fan of that Birds of Prey show, even though that was a bit out there.
It's like what Joel Schumacher did to Bats, and it's bad enough that he's directing the Phantom of the Opera musical moive........*sends flaming bags of poo his way*
I mean.....it's just made for the men anyway, this movie. *shrugs*

I heard from someone that they made the costume try to fit the image of a real cat... the way you see their bodies move. I still think the costume looks horrible. And yes, Brian the ears are alarmingly too big. I like her character in X-Men, but I'm not too impressed with the previews for this one. Michelle and Sharon were the best catwomen. (Nothing against Halley) She's a good actress, but I agree that this role doesn't fit her.

The only thing that makes Halle's Catwoman seem to even be anywhere close is A: she has a whip, B: she's called Catwoman C: she has a costume. Now here's a list of What makes her NOT ANYWHERE CLOSE to being the real Catwoman. A: Catwoman's real name is (and to my knowledge has always been) Selina Kyle (Halle's character is name Patience Price) B: Catwoman lives and works out of Gotham City and has many run ins and has even had a continuing love affair with Batman/Bruce Wayne (Patience price does not live in Gotham, matter of fact i doubt there IS a gotham city OR a Batman as far as this movie's concerned.) C: Selina Kyle's Catwoman is a cat Burglar (patience is a girl who gets killed and brought back to life to reap revenge on those who killed her.) Now some people will even go so far as to say well. . .Halle's Catwoman is black and Selina Kyle is white. . .i aint going there, to me that is a non issue. Also Patience has super powers given to her by the cat or god or catgod or whatever the hell it is that resurrects her (Selina is just a very fit and accomplished cat burglar.) Now I know they took some liberties with the Catwoman character in Batman Returns, but at least they kept the majority of it true to the character. Halle's Catwoman is "Catwoman In NAME Only" This movie looks like it's gonna be dreadful. . .I'll pass.

for those not in the know:
Catwoman is not a supervillian. She is not a superhero either. In fact, she is not a super anything. I am not sure if the current origin of the Catwoman is the same as the original(that being from 1940), but the one I read was in the mini series that came out before the ongoing series.
She was a prostitue that was mistreated by men and, in particular, her pimp. He beat her, and while in the hospital a cop gave her a card with a number on it. She called it and the guy she met taught her how to fight. Then how to use a wip. She was given the cat costume by her pimp to wear while with a customer that wanted her to wear it. She then would put it on and feel impowered and she finally fought back. She protected the other prostitutes that couldn't protect themselves and such. She was not a hero though, in that she did not try to save the pimp when he was falling(he kidnapped her sister a nun). Batman had an apperance. Ever since she first was in the batman books(Batman #1, also first joker and robin), she was a thief that Batman had a thing for(even recently he revealed his identity as Bruce Wayne to her and they had a short relationship).
She, last time I read any of the catwoman books, was a vigilante in her neighborhood, but her identity is not that great kept of a secret. The police know who she is, Batman does, as well as a lot of other people.
If you want to categorize her she is in the same area as The Punisher, she does good, but also bad.
That said, the Halle Catwoman is not the one from the books. The one from the books is Selina Kyle, not Patience Price. I wish that the rumors of Ashley Judd possibly playing the role would have turned out true. Michelle Pfiefer said she would do Catwoman, but only if Tim Burton was attached as director.
The two good things I see coming out of this horror of a movie is maybe it will teach Halle some humility and get her to realize that she is better off playing the role of Storm and being a team player, and also that the people currently making the Batman movie will have more inspiration to listen to comic readers and keep the movie true to the comic and not make it campy like the last two batman movies.
I feel sad that I actually went to watch Hellboy yet won't watch this(at least not anytime soon). Hellboy sucked, as did League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
Ultimately Catwoman is a b-list comic character, not a-list like Superman, Batman, Spiderman and such. What got her enough of a following to warrant a movie was the comic fans, so when a movie was made that ignored their input that cannot result in anything good. The problem is that the producer, in an interview I read, just didn't seem to care what the comic book readers thought. She had a movie she wanted to make and a message she wanted to get out there. So they alienated the fans that made the movie possible, smart hollywood. They did the 1980's thing of believing that showing skin is a good substitute for a quality script.
