I understand that concerts will bring out different opinions from different people but to say that Amy lacked passion, I will not stand for. Everything Amy does she does from the heart. That is just her. For someone to say that about her performance just shows that he doesn't know her as a performer or has taken time to understand her personality.

Sure the show wasn't like the first one but then again I give them credit for caring about those that buy their music and attend their concerts. I didn't want to see a cookie cutter show. If I want that, I will replay the DVD over and over when it comes out. And if you are going to say that Amy lacks passion then don't try and get all buddy buddy with the closing comment that they should take their time with the next album cause "we'll be here". Dude, once again you haven't a clue as to the dynamics of Amy and her abilities. She will not pump out garbage. She will not write something without thinking it through unlike some people, i.e. this review.

Kick ass Evanescence, we loved the show and the passion that you gave us and that we felt regardless if those who can't understand what happened on the 14th of August write reviews like this one. It was awesome.

From what I remember, the Boston show which was similar in prankage also got rather crappy reviews.

People who haven't been to a concert always hear that they are bad live.

I know firsthand that that is not true.

I'm all for being critical, but some of it is unwarranted.

Yeah, I remember that. The Roseland concert got mediocre reviews, too. No prankage there, but it still kicked ass.

I totally agree with you, Chris, even though I wasn't there. :)

Oddly enough, the reviews in newspapers around here (Alberta, Canada) often had the "Amy Lee was the only good part of the show" tone.

One of the "reviews" of the Edmonton show from a local newspaper honestly read like a 13-year old's journal entry (no offense to actual teens here :) ) I didn't save the actual text but I remember it was something along the lines of how great Amy's voice was followed by "She might actually have something if the music behind her wasn't the most synthetic (something)" but in far worse grammatical structure. They didn't bother to learn the rest of the band members' names, let alone how to write in the English language. (They might as well have credited the article to "Evboard n00b" :p )

Anyway, back to the point: the above was probably the most negative review I had seen from around my area, but to say Amy lacks passion? Now I'm not sure which bugs me more, but sometimes I think these so-called reviews were written before they even bothered to watch/listen to the show.

Personally, I prefer Ev's live sound over their studio recordings now, but that's another discussion I guess. I just agree (with tMR) that "professional" reviews should entail a little more research.

Both the Seattle shows got great reviews by local papers as I recall...

I think Critics are so useless because they only tell from the authors point of view.

I'd hope so. I went to Bumbershoot and it was fantastic. I can't believe anyone would say Amy or the band lack passion. Just look at them up there! I try to ignore bad reviews. They get more good reviews anyway, I think :)
