One of the best things ever. If you don't know what it is, go here :D (http://www.ddrfreak.com/aboutddr.php)
I've just started out with ddr. I played it once at an arcade about 3 years ago and for christmas my friend, Valerie(and aparently a lot of people in my small little school) got it for christmas and I really sucked at it, but I love it and I returned a game I got and bought DDR Max for the ps2. I love it I have improved so freaking much(I have 3 AAs, which is really good compared to how i was before)
I can't wait for ddr with mario (http://www.gamesarefun.com/news.php?newsid=4137) as long as it doesn't really, really suck.
So who else loves this thing
edit: the title looks really messed up...

um well I've been playing DDR for ALMOST 3 years (march will be three) and I'm not all that good really I've AAed all the NON-10-foot songs on Extreme, I play on reverse (and usually solo) and I have 4 arcade AAA's (Nori Nori Nori, Happy Wedding, SIlent Hill (3rd Christmas mix) and Last Message. All on heavy).I play on reverse and I originally started on a 3rd mix, then went to a 5th and then an extreme (and I played max 2 a few times). and um you should join http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/index.php it's the biggest (I'm pretty sure) DDR forum on the net (I post as ~Ang3lz~ there)

You can't search DDR, and Dance Revolution doesn't bring up a particular thread

dont take offense to this (since I am really into this game as are alot of people) but you arent that good at it. being good at DDR is when you can say you can AA something (usually something hard like Tsugaru, or Xenon)
Again please dont get mad.

hehe well in that case i suck but compared to my friends im pretty good. i dont do anything extreme with it but i wish i could. i just play for fun. i have ddr max and ddr max 2 for ps2. i wanted ddr extreme but didnt get it for christmas so ill probably wait until my birthday to get it.
its fun to play it in the arcade because most people where i live dont really play it and if they do they arent that great and i can beat them. makes me feel a little better about myself
i had a little ddr competiton with ray, a guy in my grade... let me just say i whopped his ass haha and i was plating on standard and some maniac and he was on basic hehe

Yeah, I'd say it's a workout, as long you use one of the harder dances. It's not a strenuous workout or anything, but it's still good for people who aren't major excersisers. My mom works in the health department of her school, and they're rallying to buy some DDR's for the school.
Also, I love this game, but I've never quite forgiven it for one time when I was doing really badly and it told me to "go to hell." :( lol, my friends and I still laugh about that.

I love this game and actually just found out about it this christmas...my roomate is getting the PS2 and DDR for her birthday and we actually plan on using it as a substitute workout when we are running short on time. I think it's tons of fun. Although everyone gets a good laugh when I play because I concentrate to hard and stick my butt out and trip over my feet. Oh well at least I provide some entertainment :p

Yeah I think it can be a good workout...to some extent. My husband got it for xmas and it is a good workout for him. It gets you heart rate up and stuff. I don't think that it is perfect for everyone but if you want a fun way to get your heart pumping...then I think it can be a good thing. Certainly better than coming home and sitting on the sofa all night! :)

that is awesome. i wish my school had a ddr club...although id doubt many people would join it ... hmm maybe i should start one. that would rock. not only would i be a part of a clu where we can play ddr but its just one more thing to add to me college resume... haha ::is off to try and start a ddr club::
oh and as far as the workout thing is concerned, i like to use it to get my hert pumping and just burn off some extra energy. its a better owrkout though if you play the harder levels on standard or maniac or if you do the challenge level songs.

I think it's fun. I haven't played it since summer, but I got pretty good at Max and Max 2. I can play most songs on standard and do okay.
My friend Sam is obsessed with it, but he's at college with his nice dance pads. So is my brother Matt. He started a DDR club at Ferris State University, so if anyone goes there...join it.
Anyway, I miss it and want to play it again. :( I think some of my friends just got it, though...so we'll see.

For the record then- the hardest song that I can do and pass with flying colors is Healing Vision [Angelix Mix] and get like an A. Or Era [Nostalmix] and get A or AA.
Healing Vision [A. Mix] on standard and Era [nostalmix] on heavy.

YAY A DDR thread!! I RULE at this game! On DDR Max 2, the song end of the century is amazing, I can do it perfect on light mode. But I'm on standard now. ::feels superior to people on light mode:: :) I play it with my friend so much that I'm losing weight, if thats possibile! The whistle song is so dirty if you listen to the lyrics, lmao. Blow my whistle baby ;)

On a related story.
2 years ago, I tried to get my middle school to get DDR for PE (i had charts, articles from other schools, contacts, etc. that can confirm DDR's efficiency for Phys. Ed. use), unfortunately, the machines cost $3K-8K. Phew. A little over budget- not to mention insurance and shipping. x_x I was close to getting one- but the only worry was insurance and maintenance (I was able to prove that the machine would pay for itself, should it live long enough, so upfront cost was not an issue, much).
So maybe one of you guys can shoot for it at your school.
fearlesst15
01-24-2005, 09:24 PM
haha lots of the songs have some dirty connotations to it. thats just one more reason why ddr is so freaking amazing. in fact after im done being an evboard addict, i do believe i am going to play tonight. my room is the basement and its freezing and ddr does wonders to warm me up :)
socharmed2002
01-24-2005, 09:42 PM
haha, I would love to have a room in the basement, i could do odd things down there and no one would ever know... lol jk.
The DDR club at my school has a lot of members actually, and my school isnt huge or anything, it would be a cool idea to start one if any of u guys wanted to... i sadly like watching other people play more than actually doing it myself, seeing as how i have *extroardinary* talents for DDR...

I just got two DDR mats yesterday for our XBOX. They're AWESOME!! Haha, I've played it so much that my mom forced me to take a break, lol. I have a friend who plays it constantly at the mall and I have another friend who has a mat at her house. I've seen them play and I've always wanted to learn myself so I finally got one. They're so much fun and at the same time they're a good exercise (awesome). It's like a two in one deal. But yea, I'm slowly getting better, although I'm still on the "light" level, haha. I also love how it actually has a workout game in it. You can enter your weight, set a goal (either calories, or time) and then it tells you how many calories (or your time) you burned after each song and it subtracts it from your goal. It's so cool, lol!

My friends tried to form one, but the school only allows 3 new clubs made a year.
They worked so hard, too. It was organized and very elaborate.
But does the school take the idea? Hell no! [/rant]

Shortly after DDR first came to the arcade in a nearby mall I was watching all the Hmong people in their dancing frenzy and I was like, I BET I CAN DO THAT. But I never wanted to do it without my cousin present, and him being the honkey he is, he didn't want to try it. So we never did it.
Recently I decided on a whim to buy DDR 2 (do I need to be more specific) after watching "The Biggest Loser" on NBC and being absolutely disgusted by how all these fat people on TV were exercising to the point of exhaustion + sweating profusely and I'm just LYING THERE on my couch. I was like *rolls off couch, becomes proactive*
That was like three weeks ago, AND I'VE PLAYED IT THREE TIMES. Haha. The first time my legs started cramping up and they were sore for like a week, it was really sad. It was a good thing I never did do it publicly b/c I would've embarrassed the hell out of myself with my bogus-ass clunky footing. *remembers struggling not to fall over + flailing about during first DDR experience* I'm getting better, but I still can't manage anything beyond "light." ;_;
My favorite songs are the Beethoven (or is it Mozart... WHATEVER SAME DIFFERENCE) fast-paced one and "Silence" with Sarah McLachlan.

As for DDR, i am one of those people who just sucks but keeps playing anyway. I play generally on light and occasionally on standard. Those half-beat-step thingys always screw me up, so i like light :P My favorites are rhythm and police (light), cartoon heroes (light) little bitch (light) and crash (standard). I don't have any home versions so i play at the arcade.

The one time I played DDR was at my cousin's house, and my then-11-year-old cousin beat my ass. I failed miserably LOL oh man did I suck (and I was actually surprised; I'm a fairly decent dancer). But it was a lot of fun, and if I was more into video games, I'd look into getting one for my brother's Gamecube (if they make it for that).

i should start playing again and start exercising. my ass has gotten lazy
i love playing the arcade, but it's a bit too expensive to do that all the time. the arcade is best for double mode because my matts will move a bit as i jump from one to the other.
anyone here ever memorize the arrows to a song and do crazy dance stuff while playing like some people do in videos on youtube?
i can't do that, but it's sick.

So I now have Ultramix 1 and 3. I need 2... Although all I ever play is the first one. I have like this routine I like to do where I go to workout mode, set it to heavy, and go through a list I've created (basically it's just the songs I like) as many times as I can. *is a weight freak now*
ive played there before. there are quite a few challenging songs on there. i prefer ddr though. as much fun as it is to give my fingers a workout, the cardio from ddr is preferred.

Anyway, my friend has this one, I don't know what its called b.cuz I've only seen it once, but its related to DDR I think only its a guitar. Its a cool concept.
At a youth center in my town they have hard mat instead of the soft one's.... I like the hard ones better.

Yea, you have to install properly and put all the folders in the right place. Its hard to do especially if you're moving all your files from a CD, because all the songs lose their encoding when you burn them to a disc. ^^; So, Basically all you have is a bunch of songs with graphics attached to them.

I played DDR for the first time two days ago! Well, actually, it was in an arcade and it was called 'In The Groove 2", but whatever it's the same concept :p It's pretty fun, but I totally suck at it...at first I had no idea what arrows to follow because their was a mat on the screen, and then there were the gray arrows you had to follow on top of it, but I followed the arrows when they reached the map :p
Does anyone know if DDR is on regular Playstation? I already have the original Playstation, and I don't want to have to buy a fucking PS2 to just play one game.
fearlesst15

there are older versions that were made for ps2 and the matts should work because the slot is the same though i dont know for sure.
if you can find the old games made for ps, then you can play on ps 1
but i must say, the newer ones are much better, they offer more and have better songs. that's just my opinion :)
