Do you think the Egyptians, the Romans, the Chinese, the Persians, the Greeks...do you think they sailed to America? Here is a site:

In the Americas? (http://www.seapyramid.net/articles/ancient_egypt_trade.htm)

It's convincing, and it is not the first time I've heard those claims, and I think it is possible, because if they had the technology to sail across the rough Med. Sea, so they should have been able to handle the Atlantic. But, I will certainly do more research on it, because there are interesting finds (The Bay of Jars in Brazil?), who knows?

Other sites:

The Mystery of the Cocaine Mummys (http://www.uiowa.edu/~anthro/webcourse/lost/coctrans.htm)
Roman Bust in Mexico? (http://www.andrewcollins.com/page/articles/romanbust.htm)

America, a Phoenician colony? (http://www.askwhy.co.uk/analogiesandconjectures/Americaphoen01.html)

Possible, but unless we can go back in time, we won't know anything for sure.

It sure sounds interesting, I love these kinda things but it's really hard to tell, like Sexeh Panda said, unless someone figures out a way to back in time. Neil Gaiman talked about this in American Gods, don't know if he believes in it though. That site in question seemed kinda shaky to me, it talked about Atlantis and that seems kind of, well, flaky...

Is it possible that tobacco once grew in Africa as well? I mean, Africa and South America were once (albeit a very very long ago) the same continent before they split up, they share other things as well that seem really mystical until you know they used to be joined... I don't know, I'm no scientist but this is interesting.

That site stretches things with talk of Atlantis, but one of their claims--that of cocaine in egyptian mummies--is more interesting (http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~wayfarer/anomaly/archaeology/cocaine_trans.htm).

It could be possible, but unless we have archaeological evidence or mention of it in historically relevant texts we cannot know. The Vikings did sail to the americas though, before it was "discovered" by Columbus. That we do have evidence of.

There is alot of evidence that the chinese emporer Zu Dhi comissioned voyages all over the world after the Mongol over lord Kublah Kahn had been thrown out by him and his father, and it is thought that the Mongols themselves went to the Americas (hence the origin of the "native" americans) before coloumbus was ever born.

Point of interest, colombus didnt actually belive where he went was america and maintained to his dieing day that he'd been to Japan.

Yea, I have known about the Chinese being suspected of sailing to the Americas, and I wouldn't be suprised if they did. And I know we don't have evidence to support that the Egyptians or Romans did, other then those Cocaine/Nicotine mummies.
