Hi Everyone

I have recently read on the Wikipedia website that Amy encourages Evanescence fans to download their old music such as the Origin album, Evanescence EP and the Sound Asleep or Whisper EP. I was wandering if anyone could tell me if this is true that Amy said this and if so, what interview it was in. I really do want to hear Evanescence’s old songs but would never download them without Amy’s approval.

Yes, both her and Ben approved of it... I believe in a radio interview before Fallen came out...

I know for sure she approved it on Live at Much: Evanescence. A Fan asked about where she coudl get Origin and Amy replied with (PAraphrashing here) "Just go ahead and download it and burn it to a cd. IT'll cost you big bucks on ebay and junk."

And if anyone feels bad about downloading it, just remember that even if you were to buy it on eBay, it's not like the band would profit any from it. They've made their money from those and will never see anything from the eBay auction.

If you are just a perfectionist (like me :p ) then you shell out a couple grand so you can hear the songs in high quality and just so you can say that you own an original Evanescence EP or three...

Does this generosity extend to using their songs in short movies and such? That Depends. You'll have to read up on it at Wind Up's website. As Far as Copyright issues go, I think you can use them if you're not gaining profit from it. But Wind Up might have stricter guidelines.
