This game has been metioned a few times in other threads, but not really discussed. So, any other fans of the game? It's more fun to me to be more than one character, because then if they die you don't feel so attached. Actually, I invented one character soully to be the one who takes all the hits, and I can just be stupid with. He just touched the evil alter this morning and got acid all over him. Poor poor Aramil.... But we did all get a lot of experience points for watching him die so grusomely.

Anyone else play this on a regular basis?

My friend's a DM and an 11 human artificer (I'm not quite sure what that means). He talks about D&D all the time and keeps trying to get me to play. The storyline is actually very fascinating.

My friends family is obsessed with the game, though the dragons and all the creatures, ect. are really cool. There are like so many books on it though and its so complicated, though i think its a cool game. Esp. how people can become dragons and such. And there was a movie on it, which was really cool! :)

WHAT?!

Dungeons and Dragons thread?!

NIIIIIIIIIIICE!! :D

Okay, I don't play DnD much BUT I do play lots of other tabletop RPGs. My favorite being Palladium Fantasy. I actually GMed (or dmed) an over 2 year long, epic fantasy game with about 10 people. They were all really, really into it and say that the game will be with them for life. They got really attached to their characters, and the whole campaign was a hell of an experiance.

I've played a few other systems, but have only GMed palladium. I might i say, I am one awesome, and talented Game Master.

So, to get this thread going, cause i luv tabletop RPGs, I make the following offer.

ANYONE WHO MAKES A THOUGHTFUL POST IN THIS THREAD
WILL GET REPPED AND ALSO GET 1000 POINTS.
(temporary offer)

Hope that helped, and that this thread gains some popularity.
I so wanna discuss, debate, and post whore all about TableTopRPGs here.

Hopefully it works.

I've never played much. The only time was when I was a young teenager and the DM was pretty clueless, and he moved away as well.
I've always been interested, but I've never met the right people...

See, I never have anyone around here to play with :( . I play quite a bit now, but not for that long. But when I first got it I was a level 2 player in like, an hour. I have two characters: Aramil, who's an Elf sorcerer (he was created on this one character sheet, but I just stuck with him. He's the character that touches everything, which I already mentioned) and Qwenith of Heroine, who's an Elf rogue. I have a LotR game which i just stole the Arwen miniature to use as Qwenith, just because I don't have any more than four miniatures yet. I thought that was what Christmas was for, to get more mini's! Oh well, i got the Monster Manual, part II.

Are we talking about the table top game or the video game?

I have always been intrigued by the table top game & it's elements but I have no idea of where to get it.

Try Barnes and Noble. That's where I got DnD and there's TONS more. Also, hobby shops have everything from adventure guides to thousands of miniatures.

They have a downloadable version of all the core rule books now. They went to an "open" d20 system a few years ago to integrate as many other games and genre and make them all playable in the system.

Not everything is available for download but the Player's Handbook, DM's Guide and Monster Manuals definitely are. Enough to get you started, plus much more I believe. Free. Look around, because I don't have the direct link available. But it's there.

This is the strangest game in history, i must say. i have some friends who are so into it, they talk about past games all the time, but i had never seen them play it before so when they set up a game i was real interested. so then they get out these character sheets and i just said i wanted to watch, but it took so looong to set up. and they had all these random scores and stuff, and then when they started playing! hhahaha, i found it hilarious. i walk into a bar. then it goes onto the next person. i walk into the bar too and get some ale. man it was weird, but then since theyd taken so long to set up they had to stop to go back up to auckland. so yes that is my complete experience of dungeons and dragons. oh and ive seen the movie too.

Funny story for the way I started. My friends in HS got me in to it, but we only played for like 2 months and had to stop since everyone had to go to college. Well then, during my psychology class I met a guy who plays D&D. I told him I liked to roleplay and he said "me too!" He asked me if I would like to be in a group with him as DM and I said yes!

Now I am a level 6/2 (Fighter/Sorsedic Guard which was made up by him). It's a wonderful game, and I hope to play for a long time!! :)

Nice, a D&D thread....

Another RPG was Rolemaster. That was awesome as well.

Here is a quick story. While in the military, We had a game that went from Friday at 4pm to Sunday midnight every weekend. That lasted for 2 years and we lost many players due to being trasferred so we made a rule that all character sheets stayed and when someone was shipped out, his character found a new person to take it. Anyway, we had this guy who always played a Nightblade, a theif/assassin, and one day he was arrested for stealing needles from the Pharmacy. He was a pharmacy tech and they found them in his apartment. Well, after he served his time on restriction, he joined the game again and continued stealing from the other players. Well, I caught him stealing some gold from my character and in real time, I looked at him and said, "You are nothing more than a comman little thief." He thought I was referring to his needle incident and he grabbed at me. Well, I grabbed him by the throat and and put him in a sleeper hold. The next day, I was visited by Security and they arrested me for hitting an NCO.

So D&D is bad, ummmmkay....

Actually, long live D&D......

Dungeons and Dragons is a role-playing game, or an RPG, which is very detailed and lots of fun. You make up your own character and the DM, or dugeon master, is basically the person who makes up where your playing (like he can make an island your traveling in or use one from a book, ect.), what your goal is, and what happens along the way...the DM is basically god in the game. Then your characters can grow into new levels where they gain new abilities. Basically it is a very complicated, yet interesting game. If you are interested go to a Barnes and Noble near you and there should be a section on it with guides and such. If i haven't answered your question you can always google it! Laters :)

The version I play is called Palladium Fantasy, and I GMed this huge game. There were 4 regular girls, and 4 regular guys. Also, around 4 others who would make it when they could and were in and out. It took place in a world of wondermant and magic that I called Marodus. These evil race of monsters called the scourge had come out of nowhere and started conquering nations. They also evolved extremely fast, and the same tactic couldn't be used on their forces twice. They claimed to be taking the world over in honor of a coming nameless evil. Some god that they worship, who would bring agonizing death to all, and they thought that if they had the planet ready for its arrival, that they themselves may be spared.

So the campaign was the party dealing with the spread of this army, warning kingdoms about them, figuring out where they came from, uncovering the mysteries of the coming dark god, and handling the selfish agendas of several world powers as the apocalypse approached.

It was a really memorable, and life changing experience. Now those friends and I have something interesting to talk about that's in, like, a secret language that confuses the hell out of anyone listening in, lol. Good times. Sometime soon I hope to start up another game, but lots of friends are off at college and stuff. Plus, I couldn't envision attempting another game as tremendous as the last one. But still, I'd just aim for it to be fun. Afterall, that's what I did the first time. :)
