A member of ev.it [Karmacode] got an advance copy of the Lithium EP and mentioned something about Ecotone, here it goes:
I got the Lithium EP from my friend in the UK who gets advanced copies of stuff from Wind-up (that's how I saw the video first). Anyway... it's awesome. The video looks fantastic. There's also two videos of acoustic performances (Lithium & ATILF) I don't know where they're recorded but it has a dark forest backdrop. It shows the making of Lithium which is always cool to watch and it has performances from an award show that I've never seen.
The audio CD comes with 4 tracks, one is the regular Lithium, the 2nd is the radio edit of Lithium- which is shorter but you can hear the strings & piano more. The 3rd track is Last Song I'm Wasting on You and the 4th is of course, my favorite, Ecotone. I don't think this is the Narnia track because it's probably Evanescence's heaviest song, Amy also does a scream in this song similar to tourniquet. It doesn't match The Open Door very well so I can see why it's a b-Side.
All in all, awesome DVD/CD.
Oh, it plays on my XBOX 360 and my XBOX is from the US...
Hmmmmm....

O.O
I want.....
I know it's probably not, but I really want it to be something relating to the story of Echo and Narcissus. That would just be awesome.
Ev's heaviest song? Sounds interesting. I wonder exactly what the scream is like, as we don't hear many of those from Amy.
As for it being the Narnia song, if it's really that heavy, then I don't think it'd be something she would've written for that movie. But, she also said they didn't want to use it because it was too dark [or something in that context], so, who knows.

I didn't know what the word meant, so I looked it up
a transition area between two distinct, but adjoining, communities
more specifically between plant communities...I wonder if this has anything to do with the song...?

didn't Amy say that the song she wrote for Narnia was about a transition also? Since the kids where going from an environment where war was all around them to somewhere quiet but away from family she wanted to put that into the song. It was also cut because they said it was too dark. But I haven't heard it yet so I can't judge on the sound.

Hearing that it's a heavy song has definitely peaked my interest. I can't wait until it gets up on YouTube or something. Part of the reason I wasn't as fond of this album is because it's not very heavy. :( I miss the heavy.

I'm sure the title has some meaning as far as the song goes. Maybe it's just an idea, like the ideas you can get based on the TOD album cover. For example, I said this before--but when you look at the album cover, Amy is looking back while she's turned into the direction of the door as though she's just about to go through it. She's passing from 'dark' to 'light.' Or from 'bad situations' into more 'hopeful ones.' So maybe the meaning of Ecotone, the transition from one area to another may have a similar idea going.
It would be great if Karmacode could tell us more about the lyrics so that we know what's going on with the title for sure.

Well I am so incredibly happy to hear that there is a CD/DVD release for lithium with 2 B-SIDES!
Sounds like the title of a 30 Seconds To Mars song... ooh, and it's supposed to be really heavy? Can't wait to hear it! :D

I agree that heavy doesn't really suit the Narnia song theory but the definition of ecotone fits it like a glove. Perhaps they redid the song to include the whole band or something.

Maybe after being rejected for Narnia they wrote a big F U song? That would be great. :P

Well, it could be the Narnia song. It was rejected for being too dark and epic, so maybe it was too heavy for Narnia too.
Yay new heavy song! Sweet Sacrifice is getting kinda old...

oh, sounds good  mostly i like the heavier songs more than the ballads, so i´m looking forward to hear it.
i guess we should wait for the lyrics before we start to discuss what ecotone is about, shouldn´t we?! ;)

and I just realized that I had to write a paper for my eco class a year ago that had something to do with Ecotone. No wonder that word was bothering me.

Here's the end of it...From Dhamma on EvThreads:
I received email confirmation from Amy last night that the Ecotone track is bogus. There never was and never will be a song called Ecotone by Evanescence.
